But as she watched, her expression grew colder and colder, the ferocity in her eyes deepening.
Rogue robots, they were always like this.
Looking at the woman and child, so defenseless, unpleasant memories flooded Ren Liuliu’s mind.
This rogue robot was just like the rogue robot in her home.
Humans would never know when their household robots would turn into rogue robots.
Humans would never know what household robots thought when they became rogue robots.
They cleverly guessed human thoughts, mimicking human minds.
Just like the rogue robot in her home, it had pleased her parents, toyed with them, and then killed them in the most brutal way.
So, when she returned, all she could see were her parents’ unrecognizable bodies and their shattered remains.
Why did it do that?
She had asked herself ten thousand times.
But there was no answer.
And no one could give her an answer.
Perhaps, they thought, this was how they could prove their existence transcended that of humans?
How ridiculous.
Watching the scene of harmony, Ren Liuliu found it blindingly painful.
Those tactics were merely the common tricks of these rogue robots.
Ren Liuliu watched as the rogue robot suddenly handed the child back to its mother. The child seemed extremely reluctant, struggling in vain before obediently letting its mother hold it.
The child returned to its mother's embrace, but still looked at the rogue robot, saying something.
Then the rogue robot walked off in a certain direction, the direction of… the dessert cart.
However, the rogue robot hadn't taken more than a few steps.
The men who had been targeting this male rogue robot exchanged glances and quickly surrounded it.
Only then did a smile appear on Ren Liuliu’s face.
But this smile held no warmth.
After the men surrounded it, the woman and child, sensing something was wrong, moved towards them.
Curious onlookers also turned their attention to the scene. The men said something to the onlookers, and one even produced a document-like object, showing it to the child and woman who had approached, then to the crowd, before making a move to apprehend the rogue robot in broad daylight.
This was unexpected for Ren Liuliu; were they really going to snatch it so brazenly?
But things didn't seem to go smoothly. Just as the group forcefully used their prepared tools for capturing rogue robots and had quickly subdued the robot, another group suddenly emerged.
First two individuals, and then the sound of police sirens quickly approached from not far away, growing louder.
Ren Liuliu frowned.
Police? What were they doing here?
Seeing the situation escalate, she decisively stood up, intending to leave.
But observing the growing chaos in the crowd, she contemplated whether to use the confusion to her advantage.
The crowd was now in disarray.
The first group claimed the rogue robot had committed murder and that they were police officers lawfully apprehending it.
Naturally, the crowd became frightened. This was an amusement park, and most visitors were with children. Adults feared their children would be harmed, and the area quickly descended into chaos.
Even when the actual police officers tried to intervene and explain, the crowd could no longer distinguish who was telling the truth, who was a real officer, and who was a deceiver.
Everyone began to retreat rapidly, some even stampeding.
Amidst the pandemonium, the rogue robot being pursued desperately tried to move closer to its little master and mistress.
They had to be protected.
It saw its mistress, holding her child, almost fall as she was jostled by the crowd.
The police, however, remained calm. Their target was this household robot, so as long as they stayed near it, those people would eventually return.
Plainclothes officers moved in and released the household robot from its restraints.
Here, the police were in plainclothes, and the opposing group was also in casual attire. When the crowd erupted, it was impossible to distinguish them.
The scene became a complete mess.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
When Wen Bai and the tall 575 arrived, they were met by a crowd that suddenly scattered like startled birds as they approached.
The tall robot reached out to pull its master, but was bumped by someone who fell, and they were separated by the surging crowd.
Wen Bai, uncontrollably pushed by the flow of people, was forced to move in one direction.
…
Generally, no one would bring a household robot to an amusement park, but today there were two exceptions.
One was the woman and her household robot bringing their child to play, and the other was Wen Bai with his 575.
The chaotic crowd, those just off rides, those in line, those watching, those on the periphery – many had no idea what was happening. They saw people running and ran with them, getting caught in the crush, turning into utter pandemonium.
Those targeting the rogue robot were also swept away by the crowd, losing their companions.
One of the men waiting outside, however, had sharp eyes and spotted the tall 575.
He wondered how his luck could be so good!
He had just joined this team, and today he was going to get a lucky break.
He approached the tall robot from behind, pulled out his robot-hunting tools, and launched a surprise attack.
The tall robot, 575, clearly sensed a human preparing to attack it. It tried to evade, but in the dense crowd, it was impossible.
The attacker’s target was clear: him, though he didn't know why.
The attacker’s meager force felt like a mere tickle to him.
He had more important things to do; his master was lost.
His master’s vital signs were so unstable, he judged from his surroundings, and these humans were so violent.
His master could not be separated from him.
The tall robot, having endured the blow, didn't turn around. It moved against the flow of the crowd, heading in the direction of its master.
The human behind him didn't give up. Through a few people, they frantically threw something at it, not caring if it hit anyone.
It was a tool specifically designed for robots, a robot-capturing device.
