"Are you ready?"
"Of course, I can handle something like this."
This zoo was the largest and most luxurious in the city, occupying an entire mountain.
Here, different animals were assigned their own activity zones, complete with rest areas.
There were two ways to visit: one was by taking a sightseeing vehicle. These vehicles were equipped with bulletproof glass, so even if fierce beasts lunged and rammed them, the glass and the vehicle wouldn't shatter. The entire body of the car was wrapped with layers of anti-collision strips.
The other method was to visit the pavilions. Small, docile animals with no aggressive tendencies were separated by a small fence, and some could even be touched up close.
Fierce beasts were either in deep pits or enclosed in areas by iron bars or glass. These areas served as their resting places, allowing tourists to interact with them.
Her friend who was with her was particularly interested in the fierce beast area. Lin Shuangshuang, remembering her recent string of bad luck, decisively refused the former method of sightseeing, even though her friend was eager to try it.
The zoo's fierce beast enclosures were supervised by dedicated personnel. Each enclosure had at least one to two staff members present. These keepers interacted with the fierce beasts daily and, under normal circumstances, knew how to subdue and guide them, preventing sudden incidents.
Today, when Lin Shuangshuang and her friend entered this pavilion, a staff member was present.
Lin Shuangshuang watched the fierce beast, separated by glass bars, powerfully swinging its tail and pacing back and forth.
Eggled on by her friend, Lin Shuangshuang decided to take a photo.
She stood a distance away from the bars, her back to the beast, smiling charmingly at the camera.
Behind her, the beast lowered its body, crept closer, and cautiously tested the ground.
When her friend noticed this from the camera's perspective, she exclaimed "Wow!" and began clicking her phone rapidly, taking a series of photos.
At the same time, there was a dull thud from behind.
Lin Shuangshuang didn't understand.
She turned around and saw the agile cheetah lying on the glass.
Her friend handed her the phone. Looking at the photos, Lin Shuangshuang felt a chill run down her spine.
The cheetah had clearly intended to ambush her. Although domesticated for so long, the zoo's fierce beasts retained their primal instincts. Seeing prey before them, they instinctively sought to attack. httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět
Lin Shuangshuang quickly scrolled through the photos, seeing herself smiling obliviously at the camera, the cheetah behind her cautiously approaching step by step, then suddenly leaping forward, attacking in an instant. The direction of the attack was clearly aimed at her neck.
An indescribable feeling welled up within her. The sensation of being treated as prey made her hair stand on end.
She looked back again and saw the cheetah lying on the ground, pretending to lick its front paws. The predatory desire, filled with beastly instinct and primal urge to kill prey, was conveyed through its animalistic eyes.
"Let's go, we've seen enough here," she said to her friend with a forced smile.
Her friend, not noticing anything unusual, nodded.
This pavilion was connected to the outside. The interior was the animals' resting area, an indoor space, while the outside was where the fierce beasts roamed and played.
Lin Shuangshuang and her friend continued walking deeper into the pavilion. The cheetah, surprisingly, straightened up and stood. With its agile gait, it leaped onto a higher rock formation through the glass and proceeded to walk deeper, keeping pace with Lin Shuangshuang and her friend.
System 001 exclaimed, "Is this cheetah treating the host as its meal? No, even with the rules, something like this shouldn't happen to the host! It would be understandable for others, unless..."
Wen Bai stood in the distance, silently watching the scene, and asked, "Is Yu Yang nearby?"
After a few seconds of silence, System 001's voice sounded, "Indeed, the male lead is nearby! To create an intersection between the male and female leads, the world's rules are truly inescapable."
Wen Bai put his hands in his pockets and kicked a child's rolling ball at his feet, sending it back.
"It seems we won't have any good news today."
A child, just learning to walk, toddled over to pick up the ball. Halfway there, a woman picked him up; it was likely his mother. The woman smiled kindly at Wen Bai.
"Should we keep following?" System 001 asked.
"Of course. Since we're here, I want to see how the rules make them intersect."
Wen Bai followed.
Meanwhile, a few young girls behind them were still chattering, "Ah! We can't get enough!"
"Are we still following?"
"Naturally..."
"You want his contact information?" a magnetic voice inquired.
The young girls were startled and turned to see a handsome man wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
The girls screamed inwardly!
"He's mine, so I can't give you his contact information," the man said, then walked past them, leaving them with his retreating back.
The girls had no other thoughts, only feeling that their trip to the zoo today was incredibly rewarding! They took out their phones and captured the man's back.
"Hey! It likes you! It's been following us!" Even her friend noticed.
Lin Shuangshuang walked inside the pavilion, feeling an immense pressure from the cheetah behind the glass. Even though she knew there was a reinforced glass barrier, she still felt extremely uncomfortable.
As if sensing Lin Shuangshuang's unease, her friend said, "Then Shuangshuang, I'll explore here by myself. Why don't you go outside and rest for a bit? Or go see other areas? I'll call you when I'm done!"
Her friend was genuinely very interested in the place, so she had to agree to her friend's suggestion and leave first.
Wen Bai stood with his back to them, watching the cheetahs inside the glass. Several cheetahs were fighting over and pouncing on live chickens thrown in by the keeper. One chicken narrowly escaped the attacks of two cheetahs, but was eventually caught and its neck bitten by another cheetah.
Lin Shuangshuang walked outside, and only then did she feel like she could breathe again, no longer seeing the cheetah.
Before she could fully recover, she saw someone she had met before in the distance.
It was the man who had taken Wen Bai away the last time she was robbed at night and Yu Yang had helped her.
The man saw her, gave her a polite smile as a form of greeting, but showed no intention of striking up a conversation.
Lin Shuangshuang returned a polite smile and did not approach.
She was about to find a shady spot to sit when she realized she had forgotten her phone. She then remembered that her phone had run out of power earlier, and her friend had a power bank, so she had left her phone in her friend's bag to charge.
She turned to go back. She wasn't carrying a backpack today and had no money on her. She at least needed her phone. Otherwise, this pavilion was so large, and her friend wouldn't be out for a while, so she might want to find a place to rest and buy a cold drink.
She re-entered the pavilion, and the oppressive feeling that had disappeared immediately enveloped her again.
She instinctively looked inside the glass enclosure.
Lin Shuangshuang: "..."
The cheetah was indeed waiting there.
She no longer paid attention to the cheetah inside and quickened her pace inward.
It was nearing noon, and there were fewer and fewer people. She walked against the flow of people, brushing past others from time to time.
However, the further inside she went, the fewer people there were. When she reached the deepest part, she still couldn't see her friend.
But the cheetah inside was still eyeing her menacingly. By now, there was no one around her.
Of course, she didn't know that it wasn't just the cheetah inside who was watching her with predatory intent.
Less than a hundred meters away, Wen Bai stood in a hidden corner, closely monitoring her movements.
"Host, there's an exit at the end of the passageway."
"Open it," Wen Bai calmly commanded.
"Okay," System 001's voice was full of glee.
