"Feng Jin, elder sister, hurry up and tell me, what's going on? Don't keep me in suspense!"
Lin Yuwei was extremely anxious, her hand grasping Feng Jin's as she hurriedly asked. Her words trailed off, making one's heart race.
Without further ado, Feng Jin said directly, "It's nothing much, just a slight deficiency in kidney qi. You need to avoid staying up late, drinking alcohol, and pay more attention to rest."
Chu Chenyi breathed a sigh of complete relief upon hearing Feng Jin's words. It was a close call, but thankfully nothing serious. He knew his body was healthy, how could there be a problem?
"Since there's nothing wrong, I have important matters to attend to. You two can continue talking here."
He had a mountain of memorials to read, but he was forcefully dragged out by Lin Yuwei. Now that the matter was settled, he had to hurry back and attend to his work. He didn't have any extra time to waste with them.
After Chu Chenyi left, Lin Yuwei, unwilling to give up, pestered Feng Jin. "Elder Sister Feng Jin, now that he's gone, tell me the truth. Does Chu Chenyi's body have any problems?"
She was sure Feng Jin couldn't speak frankly with Chu Chenyi present. Now that he was gone, she had to get to the bottom of it. If he was truly ill, they needed to find a way to cure him quickly.
"Didn't I just tell you? Prince Jing's body has no problems whatsoever, and certainly no issues in that regard. You can rest assured and have children."
"Really?"
Lin Yuwei's voice was filled with surprise. Could it be that Elder Sister Feng Jin was telling her the truth just now? She still found it hard to believe.
Feng Jin nodded solemnly and patiently explained again, "Prince Jing's body is indeed perfectly fine, and he is certainly capable of having children."
After confirming again, Lin Yuwei finally felt a little reassured, but she was still filled with doubt. "Then, if there's no problem, why... why haven't we... had any children?"
The matter of offspring had always been a great concern for her. Since she had put aside her pride to ask today, she was determined to get a clear answer.
Feng Jin's brow furrowed slightly. It seemed she was destined to play the role of a maternal counselor today. She beckoned Lin Yuwei to sit opposite her, preparing to impart some basic knowledge on reproductive biology.
She searched her mind for all the knowledge she had on fertility and explained it carefully to Lin Yuwei, point by point.
After listening to Feng Jin's lengthy explanation, Lin Yuwei nodded, understanding some but not all. She paused for a moment and then asked again, "Then... then how can we have children as soon as possible?"
Feng Jin sighed helplessly. It seemed she wouldn't be let off the hook until she came up with a method for Lin Yuwei to conceive quickly.
After a moment's hesitation, she picked up a pen and wrote down a prescription. She handed the prescription to Lin Yuwei. "Grind this medicine and drink it for ten days. I will also write a prescription for Prince Jing for you both to drink. After finishing one dose, wait three days before consummating."
Lin Yuwei blushed and shyly took the prescription, quickly tucking it into her sleeve. Fortunately, there were no maids around, or she would have been utterly embarrassed.
However, drinking the medicine herself was a simple matter. The challenge was how to get Chu Chenyi to willingly drink his medicine.
Her heart filled with conflict, Lin Yuwei couldn't help but ask, "Elder Sister Feng Jin, can I drink this medicine alone? Can't Chu Chenyi drink it with me? I'm worried he won't agree to it."
"No!" Feng Jin immediately dismissed the idea without a second thought. "Having children is a shared responsibility between a man and a woman. This prescription is formulated to regulate both of your constitutions. Even if you drink more than ten or twenty doses of medicine alone, it will be useless. If you want to conceive, you both must drink it together."
"Alright then, I'll find a way to make him drink it."
To have a child and no longer be pressured, she had to go all out. She had already decided that if Chu Chenyi refused to drink it, she would force his mouth open and pour it down his throat.
As she was leaving, Feng Jin gave a few more words of caution before stepping out.
Chu Qing, who was waiting outside, was already anxious. She couldn't go in, so she could only peek inside from time to time, looking for Feng Jin. When she saw Feng Jin emerge, she hurried over.
"Madam, you're finally out! Didn't you say you were just fetching something and would be right back? Why did it take so long? I was waiting outside and couldn't get in."
Lin Yuwei was worried that others might find out about this matter and spread rumors, so she had dismissed everyone, even Chu Qing, who had to wait outside for Feng Jin.
"We had a chat, which took some time. You must have been waiting impatiently?"
She was so entangled by Lin Yuwei that it was difficult to get away. If she hadn't left her with a solution, Lin Yuwei might not have let her leave so soon.
"No, I wasn't. I was just worried that if Madam was out for so long and I wasn't by your side, something might happen."
Even though this was Prince Jing's manor, her heart couldn't rest easy until she personally confirmed that Madam was safe.
"It's getting dark. Let's hurry back to the manor. The child is waiting at home; don't make him wait too long."
When they entered the manor earlier, it was still light. Now, so much time had passed, and it was already dark. Thinking of the child waiting at home, Feng Jin urged the coachman to drive back faster.
Upon arriving at the Ling Manor, Feng Jin quickly alighted from the carriage and headed towards the East Courtyard. Just as she reached the entrance, she heard bursts of laughter and chatter from within the room. Pushing the door open, Feng Jin saw Ling Wan playing joyfully with two children.
"Elder Sister-in-law, you're back." Ling Wan looked up upon hearing the sound and saw Feng Jin standing at the doorway. She quickly got up and said.
"Sister-in-law, why did it take so long? Didn't you say you'd be back soon?"
Ling Wan had returned to the manor early to look after the two children. When Elder Sister-in-law went to Prince Jing's manor, she had only said she would be back in half an hour. This trip back and forth took over an hour.
"Some other matters delayed me. By the way, has your elder brother returned to the manor?"
"Elder brother just returned. He glanced at the children and then went to his study. Sister-in-law, don't worry, I told him you were busy in the kitchen. He didn't ask much and left."
Feng Jin breathed a slight sigh of relief. It seemed it was the right decision to have Ling Wan return to the manor first. At least she helped cover for her for a while, preventing Ling Mo Han from knowing she hadn't returned so late.
"Ling Wan, it's so late. You should go back and rest. You've had a tiring day."
