As Feng Jin had said, after washing her face with this facial cleanser, her skin felt incredibly smooth and there was a faint fragrance. This stuff was truly amazing.
She couldn't wait to share it with Feng Jin. When she reached the bedside, she discovered Feng Jin had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Just how exhausted must she have been to fall asleep the moment she touched the bed? Ling Mohan didn't waste any more time. He lifted one side of the quilt and lay down beside Feng Jin. With a sweep of his large hand, he drew the woman's soft body into his embrace.
The sleeping young woman seemed to sense something and turned over, burying her head in Ling Mohan's chest and nuzzling against him. Finally, finding a comfortable position, her steady breathing soon filled the air.
Ling Mohan suddenly felt like a free pillow. He couldn't move, forced to allow Feng Jin to hold him like this.
In the end, he relented. He reached out and tightly held Feng Jin in return, resting his chin on the woman's forehead. He closed his eyes with contentment, and soon afterward, he too fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, warm sunlight spilled onto the bed. Feng Jin stirred slightly, the sunlight making her eyes uncomfortable. She casually grabbed the quilt, intending to pull it over her head.
Ling Mohan, who had long since woken up, took in all of Feng Jin's small actions. He couldn't help but chuckle softly. He reached out and pulled the quilt away from Feng Jin's head, his deep voice echoing, "The sun is already high in the sky. How long do you plan to sleep?"
The man's clear voice reached Feng Jin's ears. Reluctantly, she opened her still-sleepy eyelids. Feng Jin stared blankly at the man before her, and after a moment of recovery, she quietly said, "Why are you still here?"
Was he not attending court today? What time was it, and why was Ling Mohan still lying here so leisurely?
As soon as she spoke, Feng Jin yawned. The sleepiness immediately returned, her eyelids fighting to stay open. Feng Jin simply couldn't resist and rolled over again, pulling the quilt over her head.
"What time is it? You should get up. You need to eat."
Ling Mohan said helplessly, reaching out to pull the quilt away from Feng Jin's head once more.
Feng Jin forced her hazy eyelids open and yawned sleepily. Even her sleep was not peaceful. She just wanted Ling Mohan to leave quickly.
"Aren't you attending court today?"
"I am."
"Then why are you still here?"
The two exchanged words back and forth, devoid of any emotion. The atmosphere in the room became tinged with a hint of awkwardness.
"I just returned." Ling Mohan explained helplessly. He had already returned from court, yet Feng Jin was still lazily sleeping in bed. He figured if he returned any later, Feng Jin would genuinely sleep until noon.
Feng Jin was slightly surprised by this answer. He had already returned from court, and she was still sleeping in. In comparison, she did feel a bit embarrassed.
She coughed lightly, masking her awkwardness, "Well, let's go eat first... eat..."
With that, Feng Jin stood up somewhat nervously. She casually tied her long hair back, securing it with a simple pearl hairpin. A few playful strands of hair fell around her forehead, adding a touch of gentleness.
Ling Mohan sat to the side, silently observing Feng Jin's every move. His gaze eventually landed on Feng Jin's fair and delicate neck. His Adam's apple involuntarily bobbed, and a strange emotion clouded his eyes.
Feng Jin, however, didn't notice the man's unusual behavior at all. As usual, she walked up to Ling Mohan, "Let's go. Why are you just sitting there foolishly?"
Long after she spoke, Ling Mohan didn't respond as he usually would. Instead, his eyes remained fixed on Feng Jin, scrutinizing her.
This strange gaze made Feng Jin feel uncomfortable. She nervously drew her neck back, looked down, and examined herself. She touched her face; there was nothing amiss. Why was Ling Mohan staring at her like this today?
"Is there something on me... mmm... mmm..."
Before Feng Jin could finish speaking, her lips were sealed by a peculiar action. Feng Jin's eyes widened as she stared at the man before her, her gaze filled with disbelief.
The moment her body fell heavily onto the bed, Feng Jin suddenly realized the situation was taking a bad turn. She quickly pushed against the man pressing down on her.
"What are you doing? It's broad daylight! Are you crazy!"
"Don't move, be good..."
The man's deep, hoarse, and magnetic voice resonated in Feng Jin's ears. His warm breath on her neck sent shivers down her spine, making her feel as if her entire body was tingling, like an electric shock. Even the strength in her arms, pushing the man away, began to weaken. For a moment, she forgot to resist, allowing the man to have his way.
...
"I'm so hungry..." Da Bao slumped onto the table, weakly groaning. He touched his hollow stomach. He was truly starving. Why hadn't his father and mother arrived yet? He was about to starve to death.
Er Bao, usually calm, was also quite hungry. However, he kept his back straight and maintained his posture. His rumbling stomach, however, completely betrayed his true condition.
"Young masters, perhaps you should eat first. We don't know when the Young General and Madam will arrive."
Cai Qing looked at the two little ones, who were ravenously hungry, and couldn't bear to see them suffer any longer. Besides, she didn't know when the Young General and Young Madam would arrive, and they couldn't just starve the whole time.
She scooped some food from the plates and placed it in front of the two children. Cai Qing then covered the remaining dishes and placed them on the stove to keep warm.
"You're saying Father and Mother... went... there?"
Da Bao, while eating, couldn't stay still. At this hour, his father and mother still hadn't arrived. Where could they have gone? He was terribly curious.
Er Bao glanced at his meddling brother. Didn't he know about curiosity killing the cat? Why did he have to worry about these things? The most important thing right now was to fill his stomach.
His father and mother hadn't arrived yet, so they must have been delayed by something. They would naturally appear once they were done. Their worrying here was useless.
Er Bao continued to eat quietly, ignoring Da Bao and filtering out his brother's incessant chatter.
Da Bao, feeling ignored, immediately drooped his shoulders. It seemed like he wasn't being taken seriously at all.
