Xie Sui chuckled dryly, "Let's talk this through. Don't do anything rash!"
"Rash your ass!"
The gorilla-like inmate lunged forward with his arms flailing like fans. However, Xie Sui was quicker. He slashed the milk carton directly across the inmate's carotid artery, then ducked out from under his armpit. Without even seeing the result, he bolted.
The scene instantly fell silent. After a long pause, the thud of a heavy body hitting the ground was heard, followed by someone shouting, "Someone's dead."
The prison guards were finally alerted. Some restrained Xie Sui, while others carried the gorilla-like inmate to the medical room, and then to the hospital.
Xie Sui was thrown into solitary confinement, which was at least quieter. Bored, he recalled those inspirational gangster movies – train your body, become a prison boss, live an extraordinary life.
So, he started doing push-ups himself, exercising. Unfortunately, he couldn't last fifteen minutes before collapsing from exhaustion. This stuff really wasn't something anyone could just do.
The key problem was hunger. Without high-protein supplements, exercising was like courting death.
He decided it was better to focus on health and practice Tai Chi.
The guards watching him from outside chuckled. They didn't say anything, but their expressions were priceless. From gritting their teeth to a nonchalant demeanor, he looked like an old man practicing Tai Chi, and he was quite convincing.
Xie Sui was released after three days. Everyone's gaze towards him had changed. This guy really dared to kill.
Xie Sui, on the other hand, smiled innocently and greeted everyone, "I'm out. Did you miss me? Do you know me? My name is Xie Sui. Let's get along in the future."
Guard Zhang Hu, annoyed, smacked him on the back of the head. "Hurry up and leave, stop spouting nonsense!"
Xie Sui complied, collapsing to the ground, convulsing, rolling his eyes, and foaming at the mouth. Zhang Hu stared, dumbfounded, looking at his own hand. He hadn't used that much force!
The others glared at him, blaming him. Even if they had to discipline him, they shouldn't have gone for the kill.
He was quickly sent to the hospital. This time, Xie Sui stayed for three days, even flirting with the nurses, making their faces blush. The nurse was particularly rough when giving him his shot, and Xie Sui behaved himself.
He had initially wanted to stay in the hospital, but he was forcibly confined again.
Back in the familiar cell, Xie Sui burst into laughter, "I'm back."
Wu Xiong gave him a bear hug. "Thank you for helping me. From now on, you're the boss of this cell block. I'll gladly be your second-in-command."
"You still have the nerve to talk about how strong you are? You couldn't even beat the gorilla, and you almost got me killed."
Xie Sui hugged him back, but with less force, almost getting suffocated.
"By the way, did the gorilla die?"
"No, otherwise you wouldn't have gotten out. He received timely aid, and his windpipe wasn't cut. He's lucky."
Xie Sui shrugged, noncommittal.
Gan Hou came over to curry favor. "Brother Xie, are you really sick? How could you collapse from just a slap from Zhang Hu? You scared us to death."
Xie Sui grinned sheepishly. "If I can't beat him, can't I at least extort him?"
Everyone burst into laughter. It turned out he was faking.
"No, the foam from your mouth was so realistic, I totally believed it."
"Ah, it was his bad luck. I had some toothpaste with me."
This time, everyone was truly impressed. This guy was a real talent. He could turn anything into an opportunity.
Liu Ziqing also came to ingratiate himself, but Xie Sui didn't even glance at him. People could make mistakes, cheat, and swindle for survival.
But someone like Liu Ziqing was purely evil. Xie Sui despised scum who bullied women. He felt disgusted even talking to him.
As a result, Liu Ziqing took Xie Sui's place, lying on the bunk next to the toilet, too scared to resist.
In less than a week of Xie Sui's arrival, so many incidents had occurred. The director of the detention center, upon hearing the reports from his subordinates, was flustered. This person was a hot potato, difficult to handle.
The Li family had given instructions to kill him, while the Du and He families wanted to protect him. And this kid himself was a formidable character. The director, who had initially planned to curry favor with the Li family, now realized it was best to play dumb.
"Director, are we just letting it go? Zhang Hu was preparing a major move, determined to kill him."
The director was furious. "Is this detention center their family business? Does he want to kill whoever he wants? Without my orders, no one touches him."
The subordinate asked, "Yes. He has five million in his account, should we give it to him?"
The captain was envious. His monthly salary was only a thousand yuan, which was already enviable for ordinary people. Damn, he was rich.
"We can't keep it ourselves, can we? Better to earn more. This guy is an ancestor. We can't make a move against him, nor should we show him any favor. Let them fend for themselves."
The director gave his orders, and the subordinates followed, also warning Zhang Hu not to cause trouble, reminding him of his position.
Zhang Hu felt indignant but agreed verbally. In his heart, he hated Xie Sui. It wasn't about who could buy him off to deal with Xie Sui anymore; it was about him wanting to kill Xie Sui himself.
He dared to extort him and made him lose so much face. If he didn't kill him, who would respect him later?
Xie Sui's good days had arrived. With money in his account, he could buy whatever he wanted. While others bought things one by one stingily, he bought a whole carton.
Even in the mess hall, he could order dishes, living like a carefree lord. Wherever he went, he was met with envious compliments.
Wu Xiong and Gan Hou became his loyal henchmen, truly exuding an aura of leadership.
After a few days of comfortable living, the gorilla appeared. Upon seeing Xie Sui, his eyes immediately turned red, as if he wanted to tear him apart. His neck was still bandaged; he had almost died this time.
Xie Sui provoked him, "Not convinced? Come at me. You really think I'm afraid of you?"
"You're looking for death!"
The gorilla clenched his fists, about to strike, but then half of the inmates stood behind Xie Sui, and he immediately stopped.
Xie Sui sneered, "You think I'm like when I first came in? I'm the boss here now!"
"Based on what?"
"Based on my money."
The gorilla was speechless. No matter where you were, having money could indeed let you get away with anything.
"Listen, I don't care if you become my subordinate, but don't come bothering me. You can fight, but can you fight this many people? Remember? Don't provoke me. What I like most is making you kneel and call me 'Dad'."
The gorilla glared at him furiously, and Xie Sui equally disdained him. The two were at odds: one could fight, the other had money. Everyone wanted to see who would become the kingpin of this detention center.
The gorilla's eyes darted, and his aggressive posture softened. "How much money do you have?"
This question was quite unexpected. Xie Sui blurted out, "Hundreds of billions, perhaps?"
"Liar!"
"There's five million on the books, enough to spend without limit."
Honestly, no one believed him, and Xie Sui was helpless.
The gorilla said, "Give me a million, and I'll follow you from now on."
Xie Sui: "..."
Don't you have any pride? You'd surrender for a million?
Wu Xiong chuckled, "Old Black, are you serious?"
"Otherwise? I haven't eaten enough since I got here. Do you know what it's like to starve every day? My fists can't beat money, so why is there a problem with me following him for money?"
