Chapter 230 Ungrateful

Lin Wanwan’s face instantly turned pale. These few people were her nightmares, and she never expected to encounter them here.

After a brief moment of surprise, Xie Sui’s first thought was Lin Wanwan’s worry. He patted Gao Feng even harder, "That’s only right. Without me, would brothers like us have these good days now?"

Pushing him aside, Xie Sui’s expression turned serious. He looked directly at Hu Yaohui and asked, "Brother Hu, do you acknowledge this favor?"

Hu Yaohui nodded, "Of course. Young brother Xie, what brings you to Hong Kong City?"

"A business trip. I want to earn some foreign exchange. I’ve opened several food factories, and business is doing well. I’m here to scout the market."

"Oh, opening factories. A big boss. How much do you earn a year?" Gao Feng said with a wild, mocking laugh.

From the beginning, Xie Sui had disliked this person – arrogant, reckless, and utterly disrespectful. He had tolerated him before, but not anymore. He wouldn't be afraid of him just because they were in Hong Kong City.

"How much I earn, is that something I need to tell you? They say those who walk the path of righteousness value loyalty the most. Are you trying to be ungrateful, young brother Gao?"

Gao Feng was enraged. This pretty boy had such audacity to speak to him like that!

"What did you say?"

"I said, who do you think you are, to be asking about my affairs!"

Xie Sui didn't retreat; instead, he moved closer, glaring at him fearlessly. "You want to fight? Come on! I, Xie Sui, have always believed in treating others as they treat me. Don't think you can bully me just because this is Hong Kong City. With someone like you, you'll never be able to afford four dishes in your life. You don't look like you're doing very well, aside from your mouth, what else do you have?"

"You..."

Gao Feng was about to make a move when Xie Sui raised his hand and called a waiter in English. "Can you guarantee the personal safety of your customers in your establishment? If he attacks me, can I call the police?"

The waiter immediately stopped Gao Feng, "Don't fight here. This place is under the protection of the Du family." Anyone who could open a shop in Hong Kong City had a backer, someone in both the underworld and the legitimate circles.

Hu Yaohui looked at Xie Sui deeply. "My apologies, this is a personal matter between us. We don't intend to cause trouble. We're leaving."

Gao Feng wiped his nose, "You just wait for me."

Xie Sui's face darkened. He asked the waiter, "How much to buy his life?"

The waiter was stunned for a moment. Seeing that Xie Sui wasn't joking, and considering that Gao Feng and his companions were from the mainland and didn't look like they belonged to the upper class based on their attire, he knew that in Hong Kong City, money was power. So many people were thrown into the sea every day, and before the handover, it was an era of the wealthy's whims.

Gao Feng asked his companion, "What did he say?"

A kind customer translated for him, "He's asking how much it costs to buy your life."

Gao Feng: "He dares?"

Hu Yaohui cursed, "Shut up! If you say one more word, you're no longer my brother." Hu Yaohui was fed up with this brother causing so much trouble with his mouth. They had established themselves in Hong Kong City, but they hadn't gotten rich; they were barely surviving. He thought Xie Sui was easy to bully, but he didn't consider that someone who could open factories, do business in Hong Kong, and even speak English, was far superior to them, who could only fight.

Gao Feng had to hold back, but he harbored murderous intent towards Xie Sui.

The waiter said, "That's not within our scope of service..."

Xie Sui took out a stack of money. "I'm staying at the Royal Hotel. Anyone who can handle this, find me."

"Yes, sir. Rest assured, I will help you arrange it. Enjoy your meal."

Hu Yaohui's expression was grim, and he said in a low voice, "Young brother Xie..."

"Don't try to get chummy. We're not close. I'm not your younger brother. Waiter, someone is disturbing my meal." Xie Sui’s face turned cold. These ungrateful people, did they think they were still on the mainland where he was easy to bully? If it weren't for his wife and children being here, Xie Sui would have disabled him on the spot.

Hu Yaohui sighed, "Let's go."

As they left, Lin Wanwan felt a heavy heart, "We should go back as soon as possible." It was too dangerous here. Even the children showed fear. Xie Sui smiled, "It's my fault. Don't worry, I'll protect you."

Money made things easier. He asked the waiter to find bodyguards to escort them back to the hotel, in case Gao Feng tried to make a move. The meal hadn't been very pleasant because of them. After eating, the bodyguards arrived – two middle-aged men, without the laziness of thugs, wearing black suits, serious and diligent. They bowed to him, "Mr. Xie, hello. I am Ah Hua, and this is Ah Qiang. We are happy to serve you."

"Thank you for your trouble. My main concern is the protection of my wife and children. Price is not an issue. I want absolute safety, and I don't want my family to be frightened."

Ah Hua said, "If Mr. Xie has not offended any of the prominent families in Hong Kong City, we can fully protect you and your family's safety." If the enemy's background was significant, the price would be different.

Xie Sui said, "No, we're just here for a visit. We haven't had the chance to meet any of those big shots." Lin Wanwan felt a bit relieved and just wanted to get back to the hotel.

Hu Yaohui and his group walked out of the restaurant. Gao Feng was still defiant, vowing to cripple Xie Sui. He especially had his eyes on Lin Wanwan; she was so beautiful that selling her to a rich man could fetch a good price.

Hu Yaohui slapped him across the face, "My words don't matter anymore? Xie Sui is right. Those who walk the path of righteousness also value loyalty. If he hadn't helped us back then, we'd be dead. If you can't be grateful, you insist on crossing him. What are you thinking?"

Gao Feng couldn't explain, "I just don't like him, okay?"

Hu Yaohui was furious, "You dislike him, and he probably dislikes you too! There are many people you dislike, can you kill them all? Behave yourself and don't cause trouble."

Gao Feng was still displeased, feeling that Hu Yaohui was too cowardly. In Hong Kong City, who was Xie Sui? Many people came from the mainland for business, and many were robbed, kidnapped, or even lost their lives. Dealing with someone like Xie Sui should be a trivial matter.

While they were arguing, Xie Sui's family walked out, now accompanied by two bodyguards. Hu Yaohui’s gaze darkened. This young man was meticulous. He had already guarded against their revenge.

"Did you see that? With your little brain, you want to compete with him in brute force?" Gao Feng's eyes were grim. He was indeed afraid of death.

Back at the hotel, the children were already asleep. Xie Sui arranged rooms for the bodyguards, right next to theirs. Meeting Lin Wanwan’s worried gaze, he felt guilty. "This situation is a mess. How could we have run into them? Don't be afraid, I'll handle it."

How could Lin Wanwan not worry? She was just a simple woman who wanted a peaceful life. "Let's go back tomorrow."

"Alright. I wanted to take you on a nice trip, but I didn't consider things carefully." Lin Wanwan fell asleep very late. Xie Sui, however, opened his eyes after closing them. He got out of bed and looked at the flashing neon lights outside, a glint of ambition in his eyes.
