Chapter 144 Attack on Titan Arc Thirty-Seven

The rumbling, after operating for a day and a night, finally caused all the colossal Titans to depart from Paradis. The people on the island were no longer subjected to the tremors, and everyone cheered for Eldia's victory. Armin and the others also ventured into the streets, ready to fill their stomachs.

Connie couldn't help but question Armin, asking if Annie could truly be resurrected.

Armin responded that since all hardening had been lifted, Annie's crystal casing had likely already been dissolved.

However, in the very next second, both of them suddenly noticed a familiar blonde-haired woman sitting nearby. It was none other than Annie herself.

Seeing the four of them astonished, Annie decided to swallow the food in her mouth first. Her gaze then fell upon Connie, who was surprised to see Annie eating ravenously. He thought her eating manner was quite disgusting and unsightly.

Witnessing this, Armin quickly covered for Annie, stating that she hadn't eaten in four years.

By the time Onyankopon returned, Annie had already disappeared. On the empty table, only an envelope lay, weighed down by a cup. The envelope clearly bore Annie's handwriting: "To Onyankopon, I happened to meet Armin and Connie, so I've decided to travel with them. I'm leaving ahead of you. Sorry for the trouble. Thank you for talking to me all these years. Goodbye, gloomy roommate." Onyankopon looked at the apple pie he had just bought, muttering that there was no way he could eat so much by himself.

Meanwhile, at this very moment, Floch was fervently spewing his words in front of all the Jaegerists. Floch then commanded those preparing to execute Yelena and Onyankopon.

Floch loudly recounted their crimes to everyone present. First, he targeted Yelena, stating that her true purpose in resisting Marley's support for Eldia was to have Zeke steal the Founding Titan's power and implement the euthanasia plan, thereby annihilating all Eldians. Although Eren ultimately defeated Zeke and thwarted the euthanasia plan, Yelena was Zeke's most loyal subordinate. Floch finally asked Yelena for her last words. Yelena, however, coldly taunted him, "Why aren't you shooting yet?"

The second sinner was Onyankopon. Although Onyankopon was unaware of the euthanasia plan, she was unwilling to associate with the Jaegerists. Onyankopon laughingly declared, "I aided Eldia to save my homeland from Marley's invasion, but my assistance resulted in my homeland being indiscriminately flattened and massacred." Onyankopon angrily stated that she would rather die than be complicit with such inconsequential xenophobic scum. Onyankopon loudly questioned Jean, asking why he remained silent. In response, Jean fired four shots, but missed every single one. Jean simply claimed it was a slip of his hand. Floch looked at him with confusion. Then, a Jaw Titan suddenly appeared behind them and lunged to bite them. Jean quickly pushed Floch away, and was then swallowed into the Titan's maw along with Yelena and Onyankopon.

Seeing this, Floch urgently shouted for Pieck to engage, but Pieck was nowhere to be seen. Floch immediately felt a sense of foreboding. At the same time, hearing the gunshots, Pieck and the others immediately drove a horse-drawn carriage loaded with food and weapons out of the city. However, before they had gone far, Annie, who was on the carriage, noticed someone watching them from atop a building. But there was no turning back now; they could only continue forward.

On the other side, Yelena and Onyankopon were trapped in a ditch by the Cart Titan. Jean declared that he never wanted to be inside a Titan's mouth again, calling it terribly smelly. Hanji, standing nearby, exclaimed in surprise, "Doesn't Pieck brush her teeth?" Onyankopon questioned Jean's actions, pointing out that by staying with the Jaegerists, she would have held a high position. Jean replied that if he had done so, his conscience would never have allowed it. Yelena did not understand why she was also saved. Hanji explained that capturing Yelena was a condition for the Cart Titan's assistance, a demand from Commander Magath.

Meanwhile, the innocent Reiner was roughly kicked awake. Dazed, Reiner didn't immediately realize what had happened, but to his surprise, he was seeing Annie again. Looking at Annie, Reiner's face was filled with guilt. But in the next moment, this guilt turned into fear, because standing beside Annie were their other former comrades. Connie gloomily stated, "There's no time. We need to hurry." Reiner, confused, asked Connie what he meant and where they were going. "Do I need to ask? We're going to save the world!"
