Falken's first transformation into the Pure Titan was not limited to the Beast Titan's features; he also possessed the Beast Titan's physique.
The newly transformed Falken immediately lost control, attacking indiscriminately. Pieck seized the opportunity to eliminate Floch, but Floch turned and fled, firing a thunder spear at the ship. His intention was to blow a hole in the hull, rendering their escape impossible.
Floch declared he would be the one to save Eldia. However, the very next moment, his arm was blown away. It turned out that "that person" had intervened again.
The Marleyan sniper casually fired a shot, piercing Floch's ambition and turning it to dust.
Hanji, witnessing this, loudly praised Gabi for her excellent work. The remaining Jaegerists, seeing Floch perish in the sea, began to flee.
Meanwhile, Onyankopon announced that the ship was cleared to depart. The relieved crew finally felt they had taken the first crucial step.
But in the next instant, the berserk Falken arrived, wreaking havoc. Hanji and the others were attacked. Seeing this, Pieck rushed forward to confront him. The enraged Falken turned and bit down, locking his jaws onto Pieck's neck.
Magath, standing nearby, ordered Pieck to restrain Falken while he quickly drew a blade and ran towards Falken's nape. With a cut to the nape, Magath successfully freed Falken.
Thus, everyone narrowly escaped danger, completing their mission under perilous circumstances. However, several Titan holders were severely injured. Magath entrusted Falken to Onyankopon and chose to stay behind to cover their retreat.
Under Magath's command, Onyankopon successfully piloted the ship into the distance. Gabi was relieved that Falken was out of danger, but then she noticed that Captain Magath was not on board. Pieck gently corrected her, stating that he was now the Commander.
Concurrently, Magath continued to intercept the Jaegerists at the port. The remaining Jaegerists immediately launched an attack on Magath, but in the next moment, a bald man appeared. With two swift strikes, he eliminated the soldiers and then landed steadily before Magath.
Magath immediately deduced that this bald man was the one who had helped them destroy the reinforcement train. This person was none other than Commander Shadis.
Shadis asked Magath why he hadn't boarded the ship. Magath then pointed towards a distant vessel, explaining it was a cruiser captured from the Marleyan army and that with his speed, he could quickly catch up to the enemy. Therefore, he had to go and destroy it.
Hearing this, Shadis immediately offered to lend Magath a hand. They then proceeded to the cruiser's ammunition depot, preparing to detonate it.
Magath stated that now was the time to jump into the sea if they wished to survive. Shadis, however, replied that it was unnecessary, as he was already contemplating how to sacrifice his old life.
Magath questioned why Shadis was helping them.
Shadis slowly explained that he had seen his former students heading south from the fortress in the inner west district, and they were escorting Annie Leonhart. At that moment, he understood their objective.
Shadis was pleased to see his students grow.
Magath thanked Shadis for destroying the Jaegerists' reinforcement train.
Magath continued with regret, "Even though I've had a change of heart, I still commanded those children to do things solely for my own benefit, ordering them to break down the walls."
"Now I finally realize how happy I would have been if those children could have lived normal lives."
Hearing this, Shadis comforted Magath, "Those children will surely be proud of you."
Magath felt a glimmer of joy upon hearing this.
Magath then asked the name of the person before him. "Keith Shadis. And you?" As the trigger of the gun was pulled, a massive mushroom cloud erupted into the sky.
People cannot control their birth, but they can choose how they die. The people on the distant ship could only watch this unfolding with heavy hearts.
