Chapter 938: Chapter 938: Testing the Medicine (Part 1)

The living room on the first floor was pitch black; the lights were off.

It wasn’t until he came downstairs that a bit of light was seen in the direction of the kitchen.

Gu Annan stood in the shadows, a slight smile forming on his lips.

So, it turns out she was hungry and sneaked over to cook something.

He walked on the carpet in the living room, his steps silent, and he didn’t turn on the light.

As he passed by, he suddenly smelled something burnt and heard a crackling noise from the kitchen.

Lu Wanwan was sprawled over the bar counter, looking like she was sleeping soundly.

Entering the kitchen, he saw that the food had indeed overflowed; if he came any later, the alarm would have gone off.

Lu Wanwan groggily opened her eyes and smelled something strange.

"Oh no!"

She immediately jumped off the stool at the bar and hurriedly went into the kitchen.

"What’s ’oh no’?" Gu Annan came out of the kitchen, "You almost burned the kitchen down."

"What happened to what I was cooking?" Lu Wanwan was about to cry.

"Obviously, it’s inedible." He opened the refrigerator, "See if there’s something else you want to eat, or we can go out to eat."

Lu Wanwan leaned over to peer into the fridge, "What do you want to eat? But if we go out, do you have time?"

"I have time; it’s still early." He glanced at his watch.

It’s ten in the evening now, going out to grab a bite and coming back wouldn’t be too late.

"Have you decided what you want to eat?"

Lu Wanwan shrugged, "Of course, it depends on what you want to eat, I’m not hungry."

It’s just a pity after all the effort she put in.

She hadn’t slept all night, got up very early in the morning to make porridge for old Mr. Gu, and didn’t even sleep on the plane.

So, she just wanted to rest her head for a bit earlier, and she ended up falling asleep directly.

"Not hungry?" His eyes brightened slightly as he closed the fridge, a faint smile forming in his eyes, "You cooked for me?"

"Mm, it’s so late, seeing you busy, I wanted to make something for you." Lu Wanwan pouted regretfully, her head resting against the wall.

"If you wanted to see me, you could have just come in," Gu Annan teased with a curl of his lips, his beautiful eyes extremely deep, "Going through all this trouble and almost burning the kitchen is not necessary."

"I..." Her eyes widened immediately.

It was all for nothing.

The next day, Gu Annan still ignored the media manipulation done by the Shu Family and took Lu Wanwan to the Song Clinic early in the morning.

Once there, they went straight to Song Ning’s laboratory.

"Cousin You Chen!" As soon as Lu Wanwan entered, she saw Bai Youchen discussing something with Song Ning in front of the computer.

Hearing Lu Wanwan’s voice, he turned and smiled, walking over.

"By the way, I just heard from the nurse that things have been a bit uneasy recently?" Bai Youchen smiled, his gaze shifting from Lu Wanwan to Gu Annan, "What’s going on with Shuman?"

"Those tabloids are just writing nonsense." Lu Wanwan spoke first, "Don’t take it seriously."

"It’s a minor issue." Gu Annan replied indifferently, his eyes only looking towards Song Ning’s side, "Is this the antidote?"

At this mention, Bai Youchen’s expression turned a bit serious.

"Not quite sure." He took out a small vial from the fridge, "It’s this kind of drug."

"I don’t remember at all how they managed to drug me with this," Lu Wanwan said, looking at the vial that seemed meant for injection, "I just remember passing out at the time."

Bai Youchen nodded, "If you hadn’t passed out, you wouldn’t have known you were drugged at all."

Song Ning stood up, his brow tightly knit, "Indeed, this is the antidote; the safest way is to have someone else try it first."
