Chapter 87: A Man With Weapons And Armor Has Nothing To Fear! (Part Two)
Soon, Chen Chuan walked in.
Guan Yuming observed him with a sharp gaze.
“Tell me. Why did you stay when the others left? Don’t tell me that it’s because of the mission. The Department of Administrative Affairs has declared the mission over for you.”
Chen Chuan did not offer much of an explanation; he just said, “My uncle is Nian Fuli. I’m related to a constable.”
Guan Yuming was stunned, then slowly straightened up. The assistant looked at Chen Chuan as well. They had been wondering why he had stayed, but once they learned that he was related to a constable, no more questions remained.
“I just knew it, Sir! Only the constables and our relatives are reliable during crucial moments!” the assistant cried out emotionally.
Despite what he said, deep down, Chen Chuan did not stay for the Constabulary or because of the mission, but because those people had to die.
Guan Yuming took a look at the long saber in Chen Chuan’s hands and said to his assistant, “Bring my protective suit!”
“Roger!”
Guan Yuming turned to Chen Chuan and said, “I received a call just now saying that Black Orchid’s security team will soon come to take over. We have less than forty minutes. Are you confident you can do it?”
“Forty minutes is enough,” Chen Chuan said while looking up.
Soon, the assistant came back with a light-colored protective suit. Chen Chuan removed his jacket and put it on.
The protective suit covered his neck, torso, and limbs, but it did not make Chen Chuan feel suffocated. After some moving around, the suit fit his body like a glove. When he took a closer look at the suit, he found some intricate and indiscernible patterns on it.
“Headquarters gave me this protective suit from Central City. It can even shield you against sniper shots,” Guan Yuming said.
“I’ll be going now,” Chen Chuan declared.
Guan Yuming walked over and patted Chen Chuan’s shoulder. He said grimly, “If the obstacles are too great and you can’t make it in, it’s okay. You have a bright future ahead of you. Understand that sometimes retreating is the first step to true progress. You don’t have to risk it all here.” He then turned to his assistant. “Send him over with my car.”
“All right.”
Chen Chuan gave Guan Yuming a hand-and-fist salute and left the command center.
“The rest of our guys should give full support to him,” Guan Yuming said to the messenger.
The messenger saluted. On his way out, he suddenly stopped and turned around. “Sir, even without the order, our guys would still do it!”
Guan Yuming hummed and checked his watch. He wondered, A little over half an hour left. Can he make it?

After Chen Chuan left the outpost, he saw the villagers. Guan Xiaohui was among them. The moment their gazes met, Guan Xiaohui shouted, “Wait! Chen Chuan, where are you going?!”
Chen Chuan stopped and went over to her. “I’m going to do what needs to be done. Do you need anything?”
Guan Xiaohui hesitated for a bit before saying, “I don’t know whether this information is useful to you or not, but there’s a secret tunnel under the guard post. It’s just that only one person can go through it at a time. You could sneak in through there.”
Chen Chuan did not know why she did not tell the Constabulary about this. Was it because she did not trust them? Still, he nodded. “Thank you.”
Just then, he saw a certain person walking to him, and he was quite surprised. He took a closer look and gasped. “Senior Wu? Didn’t you leave?”
Senior Wu went up to him and started cursing up a storm. “I just can’t stomach this! Damn it! Even if I die, I have to take revenge for Liu Xin! Chen Chuan, you’re going to attack the guard post, aren’t you? I’ll do it with you!”
Chen Chuan stared at him for a bit and accepted his offer without hesitation. “Alright! Then, please do something for me.”
“Sure! I’ll listen to you. I trust that you can do it. I’ll put my life in your hands today.”
Chen Chuan gave him a few instructions. Senior Wu nodded and patted his chest. “Don’t worry. Leave it to me!”
The assistant drove a car over, and Chen Chuan went over. He opened the car door and hopped inside.
The assistant immediately sped off. On the way, he shared the general plan and told all the information they had gathered so far. They were certain that six among Fang Dawei’s gang had implants. The others only had protective gear. So, Chen Chuan had to be careful of those six.
The assistant sent Chen Chuan to the base of the highland where the guard outpost was. The constables had dug out trenches and built simple earth ramparts around the area.
Wei Laohu was in charge of this particular spot. He had received a call about the new plan, so he was aware that Chen Chuan was coming. Once they arrived, he walked over and took a look at Chen Chuan. “You must be Xiao Chuan. We’ve met before. Do you remember me?”
“I do. Changan always talks about you,” Chen Chuan said.
“That brat must have been badmouthing me.” Wei Laohu then looked straight into his eyes. “Are you confident, Xiao Chuan?”
“Don’t worry, Uncle Wei. I’m confident,” Chen Chuan assured him.
“Good, then! Changan says you’re really good, so I’ll trust you!”
“Don’t trust me alone, Uncle Wei.” Chen Chuan looked around. “There are so many constables here. We’re in control. Why should we be scared?”
“Well said, Xiao Chuan!”
“You’re exactly right, Chen Chuan!”
“Damn it! That really hit home!”
The constables standing around got fired up because of his words. There was no way they could embarrass themselves before someone younger than they were.
Chen Chuan turned to the guard post and saw a winding path leading up to it. There was only one door leading into the guard post, but it had not been maintained for years. There were numerous holes in it.
He had never considered taking the secret tunnel. He was going to break in from the front.
He tightened his hold over the saber hilt. While Wei Laohu, the assistant, and a little over six hundred constables watched him, he walked to the start of the winding, sloping path.
Chen Chuan looked at the sun above, then at the guard post on the highland. He shoved the Frost King Saber’s sheath into the ground until half of it was buried and slowly drew the saber out. The sound of the blade scratching against the sheath rang through the air. With a ring, a snow-white light flashed off the blade.
Chen Chuan slowly adjusted his breathing and sensed the saber’s excitement. The protective suit seemed to be expanding and contracting along with his diaphragm. At that moment, he could not help but remember something Wei Changan had told him before.
“A man with weapons and armor has nothing to fear!”
Chen Chuan stared at the guard post up ahead and tightened his grip over the blade’s hilt. Then, he leaned forward and took a step forward. The moment his foot landed, his second self overlapped with him. With a bang, smoke and dust exploded where he stood, and he charged forward.
