Chapter 11 Saving Someone by the Road

"My goodness, is this old man having a fit? He looks so scary!"

"Quick, get away from him. He just suddenly collapsed. What if he has some strange illness?"

"Who will go call a doctor? My master has a heart condition, we can't delay. Hurry and call a doctor!"

...

Anxious voices rang out from the crowd. Li Yueshu, who was about to leave, suddenly stopped.

She frowned slightly, turned, and walked quickly towards the commotion, "Excuse me, please let me through. I'm a medi... I'm a doctor!"

The crowd immediately parted, and Li Yueshu saw the condition of the ailing elder.

The old man looked quite aged. He was currently lying on the ground, pale-faced, clutching his chest and breathing rapidly. A young man, appearing to be his attendant, looked panicked and flustered.

Seeing someone step forward claiming to be a doctor, the attendant seemed to grasp at a life-saving straw, no longer caring about her strange appearance covered in bloodstains.

"Madam, please save my master!"

Li Yueshu had no time to say more. She immediately knelt on the ground to examine him and found that the old man was indeed suffering from a heart attack.

Without a second thought, she used her sleeve as a cover and took out a bottle of fast-acting heart-relief pills from her spatial dimension.

As a medical researcher, her laboratory naturally contained many medicines, including these fast-acting heart-relief pills.

Li Yueshu's movements were extremely swift. She pinched the elder's jaw and directly threw the pill into his mouth.

Shen Tingwen watched her practiced movements, a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

Was this woman truly the wicked stepmother they knew?

Then, he noticed the appearance of the old man on the ground, and his pupils constricted sharply.

Shen Tingyi also saw him and moved closer to Shen Tingwen. "Second Brother, he is..."

Shen Tingwen shushed her and, while no one was paying attention, pulled Shen Tingyi behind the crowd.

"What did you give my master!"

The distraught attendant suddenly reacted, glaring angrily at Li Yueshu. "Do you know who my master is! To casually give my master something to eat, if anything happens, you wouldn't have enough lives to compensate!"

After ensuring the old man had swallowed the medicine, Li Yueshu finally looked up coldly. "Didn't you just ask me to save your master?"

Tears still on his face, the attendant glared with wide eyes. "But I didn't tell you to give my master random things to eat! You..."

"Changsong, don't be rude!"

A weak but authoritative voice rang out, silencing the attendant instantly.

The old man, who had been semiconscious, had opened his eyes. Apart from his face still being somewhat pale, there seemed to be no other issues.

Changsong's eyes widened in surprise. "Master, you're alright? That's wonderful!"

With Changsong's help, the old man stood up. Despite his hunched and aged body, he exuded an undeniable aura of dignity.

"Changsong, apologize to this madam."

Changsong finally remembered his foolishness from earlier and his cheeks flushed.

"Madam, I apologize. I misunderstood you." He bowed deeply to Li Yueshu. "Thank you, madam, for saving my master's life."

Seeing his respectful attitude and sincere apology, the slight displeasure in Li Yueshu's heart dissipated. "It's alright. You were just worried."

She handed him the thumb-sized gourd bottle. "In the future, if this happens again, take one pill. Remember to eat less greasy food and exercise appropriately, but avoid strenuous activity."

Changsong quickly took the bottle and expressed his thanks again.

The old man looked at the disheveled woman before him with some surprise. "May I know where the young lady resides? This old man must properly repay your life-saving kindness."

Li Yueshu shook her head. "As a healer, this is what I should do."

Just as the old man was about to say more, a loud voice suddenly echoed from not far away. "Doctor Chen is here! Everyone, please make way, make way! Doctor Chen is here!"

Everyone's gaze was instantly drawn away. They saw an elder doctor rushing from a distance, out of breath, followed by an apprentice carrying a medicine chest.

"Where is he? Who fell ill?" Doctor Chen asked anxiously, still catching his breath.

The old man smiled at him. "Doctor Chen, don't worry. It's me. I'm alright now."

Doctor Chen, panting, looked surprised. "Elder Xu, what are you doing here?"

Unsure what he was thinking, a fleeting light flashed in the old man's eyes, but it quickly disappeared.

"I was just passing through the vicinity and wanted to see you. I didn't expect to fall ill halfway. Fortunately, this young madam here came to my rescue..."

Elder Xu was about to introduce Li Yueshu, who had saved him, but when he turned around, she was nowhere to be seen.

It turned out that while everyone's attention was on the arriving Doctor Chen, Li Yueshu had found the dragon and phoenix twins behind the crowd and, with them, had quietly left.

Doctor Chen looked at Elder Xu, who was anxiously searching the crowd. "Elder Xu, you said the person who saved you was a young madam."

Elder Xu nodded. "That young madam had an extraordinary demeanor. Even her bloodstains couldn't hide her elegance. One might think she was a young lady from a prominent family."

Hearing him say this, Doctor Chen suddenly thought of the woman who had visited the clinic that day to inquire about medicine.

"Is the Elder Xu referring to a woman with a shoulder injury, covered in blood, and accompanied by a man who looked rather dull and a child?"

Elder Xu paused.

His attention had been entirely on the young madam, he hadn't noticed anyone else.

However, Changsong had noticed. "She was indeed accompanied by a man and a child."

He then recounted everything that had happened, even showing the small gourd bottle. "This is the medicine the madam left behind. She said if such a situation arises in the future, it can be taken directly."

Doctor Chen, shocked, poured out a pill and sniffed it carefully. His eyes were filled with astonishment. "Elder Xu, would you be willing to give me one? I would like to study it carefully."

This pill was small and exquisite. He wasn't sure of its exact ingredients, but to be able to help someone suffering from a heart condition with just a single pill, without resorting to acupuncture, was something unheard of in the world!

Elder Xu knew that Chen valued medicine more than his own life, so he generously gave him two pills.

Seeing the look on Doctor Chen's face, he became even more curious about that madam.

Li Yueshu, unaware of any of this, took Shen Wei and Shen Tingwen directly to a clothing store.

Buying fabric and making clothes herself would be much cheaper, but she had no sewing skills at all, so buying ready-made items was the most convenient.

Seeing the three of them dressed in worn-out clothes and covered in blood, the shopkeeper initially thought they were beggars and was about to chase them away.

Li Yueshu quickly spoke up. "Shopkeeper, our family encountered some unforeseen circumstances, which left us in this disheveled state. Please get me a set of clothes for each of us according to our measurements, and then get a set of women's clothing for this child's size, a set for a seven-year-old boy, and a set for a three-year-old child."

Hearing that she wanted six sets of clothes at once, the shopkeeper thought he had misheard and took a moment to recover.

After some negotiation, and with the help of the clever Shen Tingwen, they ended up buying six sets of clothes made of linen cloth and two bolts of better quality fabric for two taels and eighty wen.

Li Yueshu planned to ask Aunt Liu to help make undergarments for them with this fabric.

Shen Tingwen's money was almost gone, and coupled with the person he had seen earlier, his mood instantly soured.

Shen Wei had not spoken a word from beginning to end, diligently acting as a porter.

Just then, a figure brushed past Shen Wei.

The man walked a few steps, then suddenly remembered something, his pupils contracting, and he stopped abruptly.

He quickly turned his head, only to see a somewhat familiar figure faintly appearing in the crowd.

He didn't have time to think and hurried to follow, but with people coming and going on the street, he lost sight of his target in the blink of an eye.
