"Are you guys ganging up on me?" Harvey, not one to take things lying down, blurted out his thoughts.
Lu Wanqing couldn't help but chuckle. She led the little guy to the room and quietly explained things to him.
Little Harvey, initially confused, widened his eyes in shock as he listened.
"Does Harvey understand?" Lu Wanqing asked, smiling, after a long explanation.
Little Harvey nodded vigorously, "Mhm, mhm, mhm."
Lu Wanqing smiled, ruffled the little guy's hair, and said, "It's getting late. Go take a bath and go to bed. You have school tomorrow."
"School?" Little Harvey exclaimed.
Lu Wanqing nodded. "Yes, your father has enrolled you in school. Starting tomorrow, you can go to school like other children your age."
Little Harvey was speechless.
Lu Wanqing urged the little guy to take his bath, and then she went to take hers.
While the virtual arena didn't physically harm individuals, the mental impact was significant. Soaking in the interstellar era's intelligent bathtub, Lu Wanqing couldn't help but recall everything she had experienced in the virtual arena.
At that moment, scenes from the previous battles flashed through her mind, every detail seemingly crystal clear.
Lu Wanqing even raised her hand, unconsciously analyzing how to counter each move.
Perhaps lost in thought, Lu Wanqing's bath took quite some time, so long that Harvey called out to her from outside.
"Mommy, are you done yet?"
"You've been in there for so long!"
Little Harvey's voice was always lively and boisterous.
Lu Wanqing snapped back to reality and quickly got out of the bathtub. She put on her clothes and emerged from the bathroom.
Upon seeing her, Little Harvey's eyes lit up, and he immediately ran over, happily exclaiming, "Mommy, you haven't told me a bedtime story today!"
It was almost time for bed, and he was very sleepy, but he hadn't heard his mommy's bedtime story yet. He didn't want to sleep.
"Okay, Mommy will tell you one," Lu Wanqing said with a smile.
Lu Wanqing accompanied Little Harvey back to his room and gently told him a bedtime story in a soft voice.
Although lively, Little Harvey was still a child. He had fought so many rounds in the underground arena today and was already exhausted. He had been holding on with sheer willpower to hear his mommy's story. Now that his mommy was telling him a story, he finally relaxed, and as he listened, he drifted off to sleep before his mommy could finish.
Lu Wanqing's gaze softened, and she couldn't help but lower her head, gently planting a kiss on the child's forehead. In a very light and tender voice, she whispered, "Goodnight, Harvey~"
Harvey, as if hearing her in his sleep, his long eyelashes trembled slightly. He seemed to want to open his eyes but couldn't.
Lu Wanqing smiled, stood up, turned off the room light, and quietly left the room.
However, as she stepped out of the child's room, Lu Wanqing was immediately reminded of something else, and she froze.
Lu Wanqing hesitated for a long time, but finally, she approached the master bedroom door.
As the man and woman of the house, they were naturally supposed to sleep in the master bedroom.
Xavier, inside the room, heard the movement at the door and looked towards it.
"Come in," Xavier said.
Lu Wanqing entered. She glanced at the large bed, then looked at Xavier and asked cautiously, "Do you hit people when you sleep?"
Xavier was speechless.
"I think we can sleep a little further apart. I can sleep on the floor," Lu Wanqing suggested.
Sharing a bed, as long as nothing else happened, she felt she could tolerate. But Xavier's habit of hitting people was something she felt she couldn't endure.
Little Harvey was so small, and he was his own biological son, yet Xavier could still lay hands on him. Herself...
She dared not hope for any great kindness from Xavier towards her.
"No," Xavier refused.
Lu Wanqing was silent.
"As long as you don't roll around in your sleep and get on top of me, it'll be fine," Xavier said.
Lu Wanqing's mouth twitched slightly, and she couldn't help but say, "So, I should be thankful that I don't move around in my sleep?"
"You don't move around in your sleep?" Xavier's eyes lit up as he looked at her, clearly pleased.
"Even better. As long as you don't touch me, I won't hit anyone," Xavier declared.
"Then, if you hit me, can I hit you back?" Lu Wanqing couldn't help but ask again. She had a generally good temper, but being hit inexplicably was something she felt she couldn't tolerate. If she was hit, she had to hit back; otherwise, it wouldn't feel fair.
Xavier: "...Yes."
"Alright!" Lu Wanqing immediately brightened.
Xavier was left speechless.
Lu Wanqing happily got into bed, pulled the covers over herself, and closed her eyes to sleep.
Xavier was speechless for a moment, then walked to the other side and lay down, preparing to sleep.
That night, both Xavier and Lu Wanqing braced themselves for a potential fight in the middle of the night. However, when they opened their eyes and found it was already morning, they were both a little bewildered.
Last night was that peaceful? Lu Wanqing hadn't overstepped her boundaries at all, hadn't gotten close to him, and hadn't triggered his hitting reflex?
Lu Wanqing was also relieved. While she knew she was generally quiet in her sleep and didn't move around much, she had never slept with anyone before. If she had moved around and somehow provoked Xavier, getting inexplicably beaten would have been truly unfair.
"Dad, Mommy, are you awake!!!" At that moment, Little Harvey knocked on the door from outside.
Lu Wanqing's eyelids twitched slightly, and she quickly got up.
Xavier also got up quickly.
Lu Wanqing opened the door, and Little Harvey immediately squeezed in, looking around curiously.
Xavier raised his hand and tapped the little guy on the head, warning, "What's all the commotion outside the door so early in the morning?"
Little Harvey quickly replied, "I came to see Mommy!"
Xavier was exasperated. "Your mommy doesn't need you to see her!"
"That's not true!"
"Dad, you're so mean. You still hit people when you sleep at night. I came to see Mommy. If you dare to bully Mommy..."
Little Harvey was chattering away but suddenly got stuck at the end of his sentence.
Xavier chuckled, "What if I hit her?"
Little Harvey looked at his father's mischievous smile and felt a surge of annoyance. He grabbed his father's hand and pretended to bite, saying, "If you dare to bully Mommy, I'll bite you!!!"
Lu Wanqing was amused by Harvey's words but felt a warmth in her heart. She smiled and said, "Don't worry, your father didn't hit me."
Didn't hit her?
Now it was Little Harvey's turn to be shocked. He exclaimed in disbelief, "How is that possible? Dad hits people every night when he sleeps, he's super mean!"
Xavier scoffed, "Who do you think you are? Moving around restlessly in your sleep and crawling everywhere?"
