Chapter 454 Xavier's Sadness

"Dad, Mommy!" Little Harvey ran over, happily grabbing Xavier and Lu Wanqing's hands.

Lu Wanqing chuckled, "So happy?"

"Mhm, we had sports class this afternoon. Mommy, we played basketball, and the teacher said basketball was an activity from ancient Earth times. You guys, wuwuwu..."

Little Harvey's words were cut short as Lu Wanqing covered his mouth. Some things couldn't be said.

Little Harvey had been too happy and blurted everything out. But with his mommy's hand over his mouth, he suddenly realized he had almost exposed her identity.

"Let's go home," Lu Wanqing said.

"Mhm!" Little Harvey nodded happily.

The family of three got into the hovercar and drove home.

The hovercar was fast, and they arrived home shortly. Little Harvey was overjoyed. School was more fun than he had imagined, and he had made many new friends. They had added each other on their optical computers.

Little Harvey was a child who couldn't keep things to himself. Once they were home, he started chattering away, recounting every little thing that happened at school to Lu Wanqing.

Little Harvey didn't just talk to Lu Wanqing; he talked to Xavier and Uncle Wu as well. Almost everyone's ears were "tortured" by him.

By the time Little Harvey had told his story to everyone, Lu Wanqing was speechless.

The good news was that the kitchen tools she had bought online had arrived. Lu Wanqing eagerly unpacked them and took them to the kitchen, ready to test them out.

If she wanted to livestream, she definitely needed to test these tools beforehand. If there were any issues with the tools, it could lead to a livestream disaster.

"Mommy, are you going to cook?" Little Harvey's eyes lit up when he saw Lu Wanqing fiddling with the kitchenware, and he asked happily.

Lu Wanqing nodded. "Yes."

"What are you going to make?" Little Harvey buzzed around Lu Wanqing like a curious little bee, asking questions incessantly.

Lu Wanqing looked up and sighed deeply. She was starting to understand why Xavier couldn't catch a single fish back then.

However, she didn't say anything. Little Harvey's personality was partly due to growing up with the space pirate crew. The pirates were generally bold and carefree, so it was normal for Little Harvey to grow up with them and be more daring and lively. Secondly, the little fellow had only interacted with the members of the Undying Pirate Crew, and mostly adults, since he was young. He didn't have friends his own age.

Adults, when facing children, often placated them. Few adults could truly understand what a child was saying and share their world like a child would.

This was also why Lu Wanqing wanted Little Harvey to go to school. Children had their own world, and that sense of novelty, curiosity, and exploration towards the world was something only people their age could understand.

Lu Wanqing took out the ingredients and systematically began to cook the rice, simmer the soup, and stir-fry the dishes.

It took her an hour and a half to prepare one soup and four dishes.

"It smells so good!" Little Harvey's mouth watered at the sight of the dishes. Mommy's cooking was truly delicious.

Lu Wanqing grabbed the little fellow's hand as he reached out to grab a dish and reminded him again, "You can't use your hands to grab food, and you need to wash your hands before eating."

"Okay," Little Harvey agreed.

The little fellow quickly went to wash his hands and returned not long after.

The simple dishes on the dining table felt exceptionally warm.

"Eat," Lu Wanqing said with a smile.

Xavier glanced at the seemingly weak-willed Harvey, then picked up his chopsticks and took a bite.

Xavier hadn't eaten such delicious food in a long time. After leaving Imperial Capital Star, his life had been very rough...

Often, just being able to eat enough was satisfying. He never dared to indulge in food like he did in the Imperial Capital.

As Xavier ate, he suddenly felt he couldn't continue. It wasn't that the food was bad, but he was suddenly reminded of past events...

After a few bites, Xavier stood up and said, "I'm full."

Lu Wanqing: "???"

Was her cooking not good?

Why did he only eat a few bites and leave?

Little Harvey was also confused, looking at his father strangely. Mommy's cooking was clearly delicious, and he loved it. Why did Daddy only eat a few bites and then stop?

Uncle Wu was also taken aback, but after a moment, he seemed to understand and quickly looked at everyone, saying, "Miss Wanwan's cooking is truly delicious."

Lu Wanqing gave Uncle Wu a strange look and continued eating.

They ate their fill, and then asked the household robot to clear the table.

Lu Wanqing couldn't help but go upstairs to find Xavier.

Upstairs, Xavier was already back in his study, working.

Lu Wanqing hesitated, then raised her hand and gently knocked on the door.

Xavier looked up at her.

"Something wrong?" he asked.

Lu Wanqing hesitated, then said, "Are you unhappy?"

Xavier understood instantly, his expression returning to its cold indifference. "No."

Lu Wanqing didn't know what else to say. After a moment of hesitation, she turned and left.

Why was Xavier unhappy? Lu Wanqing didn't know.

What was Xavier's biggest predicament? She was also powerless to help.

Xavier's identity was too sensitive; he was wanted by the entire Federation, a notorious space pirate. Even with her special status and connections with many influential people in the Federation, she couldn't make the Federation's laws blind.

She couldn't change Xavier's identity. She couldn't make it so that everything that had happened was as if it never occurred, allowing him to return to the empire and live a normal life.

Perhaps this was the first time Lu Wanqing had felt powerless since awakening in the interstellar era.

She was unable to help Xavier in his situation.

However, Lu Wanqing thought that it wasn't entirely hopeless. As long as she was rich enough, she could build her own planet.

A planet was so vast; hiding one or two people and giving them a stable home should not be a problem, right?

It's just...

Building a planet was incredibly expensive, extremely money-consuming.

So, she still had to work hard to earn money. No matter the era, having money in hand was the decisive factor!

Thinking this, Lu Wanqing returned to her room. She took out paper and pen and tried to write down all the ancient Earth delicacies she remembered, to see if she could cook them on her livestream.

If she could cook many ancient Earth dishes, it should be enough to make an account popular, right?

Livestreaming was very profitable. It was like that even in ancient Earth times, let alone in the interstellar era.

So, all of this required her hard work. As long as she looked forward and focused on making money, any problem could be solved, or at least, there would be a way to change things.
