Chapter 544 Cui Cui Was Very Sad

"Oh," Wei Xingzhou said coolly, indifferent.

"If there's nothing else, Cui Cui and I will be going out now," Wei Xingzhou said carelessly in the next moment.

Wei Liang: "..."

Seeing that he had fallen silent, Wei Xingzhou turned and said to his daughter, "Cui Cui, let's go."

"Mm," Cui Cui nodded immediately.

The reactions of this father and daughter were too calm; Wei Liang was completely bewildered. He had called Wei Xingzhou and Cui Cui back this time, fully prepared for a world-shattering scene. He had even considered what to do if Wei Xingzhou and Cui Cui didn't accept it. Yet, he had never imagined that his son would know about Cui Cui's background all along, and that they seemed utterly indifferent to the Wei family's assets?

It was one thing for them not to want to give certain things to outsiders, but when the other party genuinely didn't care, not even trying to contend for them, Wei Liang felt a pang of discomfort.

Both Wei Xingzhou and Cui Cui were people they watched grow up, like raising their own flesh and blood. In their eyes, were the Wei family's vast assets truly... nothing?

Wei Liang pondered, becoming more and more puzzled. He couldn't help but reflect, was the Wei family's industry truly so insignificant that it couldn't even stir the slightest interest in a struggle for it?

Were their efforts, which they had painstakingly managed for so long, truly so unsuccessful?

"Right!" Wei Liang remembered something and quickly rushed out.

Wei Liang caught up with Wei Xingzhou, couldn't help but glance downstairs, then lowered his voice and said, "Xingzhou, Sisi just returned. You shouldn't go out for now. Stay home and spend more time with Sisi."

Wei Xingzhou frowned, "Sisi?"

Wei Liang nodded.

Cui Cui didn't speak, but the hand at her side gently clenched.

Wei Xingzhou lowered his gaze to the girl sitting on the sofa downstairs.

Wei Liang said in a low voice, "No matter what, she is your biological daughter. According to the Federal Juvenile Protection Law, you have an obligation to care for and accompany her."

Wei Xingzhou frowned and looked down at Cui Cui. He keenly noticed that Cui Cui's complexion wasn't good. He quickly crouched down, hugged Cui Cui, and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Cui Cui's eyes widened, and she looked at Wei Xingzhou in disbelief, "You!!!"

Wei Xingzhou chuckled, "Hehe, what's wrong with Dad kissing you? Cui Cui, don't be angry!"

Cui Cui: "..."

"I can't be bothered with you!" Cui Cui rolled her eyes and turned her back, facing away from Wei Xingzhou.

"I'll be mindful," Wei Xingzhou said to Wei Liang.

Wei Liang nodded with relief.

Cui Cui's hand, resting by her side, involuntarily slipped into her pocket, clenching tightly, feeling distressed.

"Alright, let's go down together. You must be tired after coming all this way. Rest for a couple of days first," Wei Liang said with a smile.

Wei Xingzhou led Cui Cui downstairs.

Downstairs, Lu Wanqing saw them descend and quickly stood up, walking towards them.

Lu Wanqing noticed Cui Cui's pale face and her heart leaped into her throat, her gaze filled with concern as she wanted to inquire.

Wei Xingzhou spoke before Lu Wanqing could, "Come, Lu Wanqing, I'll take you to your room."

"You haven't seen Cui Cui's room at home yet, have you? It's very cute too. It was decorated when Cui Cui was very little!" Wei Xingzhou said with a smile.

Lu Wanqing keenly sensed that Wei Xingzhou was deliberately changing the subject.

However, she quickly understood. With so many people present, some matters might indeed be difficult to discuss in front of everyone.

"Okay," Lu Wanqing managed a smile and said.

They walked upstairs together. Lu Wanqing subtly stroked Cui Cui's head, offering silent comfort.

Cui Cui looked up at her mother, meeting her concerned gaze. She instantly felt her mother's care, and a faint warmth flowed into her cold heart.

They soon reached the second floor. Wei Xingzhou opened the innermost door and then turned to Lu Wanqing, saying, "It's this one. Go and see, isn't it super cute?"

"Dad!" Cui Cui said, exasperated and warning.

Wei Xingzhou grinned, "I'm not saying it's not true, it's very cute!"

Lu Wanqing also smiled. Looking at the pink and tender decorations inside, it was clear that this room had been thoughtfully prepared, like a little princess's room.

"It's very cute," Lu Wanqing said.

Wei Xingzhou smiled and said, "I heard that in ancient Earth times, very wealthy families liked to decorate their children's rooms in such pink and tender princess styles?"

Cui Cui froze at the words but couldn't help herself and looked up at her mother.

Lu Wanqing smiled and nodded, "Yes."

Lu Wanqing held Cui Cui's hand and smiled, "My room was like this when I was little too, all pink and tender. My parents and brothers all doted on me like a little princess."

Cui Cui's eyes lit up immediately, and she asked expectantly, "Really? Mom's room was like this when she was little too?"

"Mm," Lu Wanqing nodded with a smile.

"Cui Cui, can Mom come into your room to take a look?" Lu Wanqing crouched down, looking into Cui Cui's eyes, and asked earnestly.

It's worth noting that Cui Cui was eight years old now, so Lu Wanqing had to tilt her head slightly to meet Cui Cui's gaze.

Cui Cui immediately nodded, "Mm."

Lu Wanqing smiled, couldn't help but hug Cui Cui, kiss her cheek, and say with a smile, "Thank you, Cui Cui."

Lu Wanqing and Wei Xingzhou entered Cui Cui's room together. They closed the door.

Lu Wanqing began to observe the child's room carefully. After looking around, she felt increasingly that Cui Cui's childhood had been a good one. At least, the Wei family had treated Cui Cui very well.

"Mom, did you have dolls in your room when you were little?" Cui Cui suddenly brought a doll from the corner and asked Lu Wanqing.

Lu Wanqing smiled and nodded, "Of course I did. Mommy had many."

"I have them too!" Cui Cui said with a slight smile, somewhat happily.

Lu Wanqing nodded with a smile, "Mm."

Lu Wanqing noticed that the room also had many photo frames. She walked over and examined them one by one, discovering that they were all childhood photos of Cui Cui. In many of the photos, Wei Xingzhou was present, and the father and daughter were smiling brightly.

"Cui Cui has been beautiful since she was little," Lu Wanqing said sincerely after looking through them all.

"Dad says I look a lot like Mommy when she was little," Cui Cui added, with a touch of pride.

Lu Wanqing was momentarily stunned, then chuckled, "Mm."

"I'm the most like Mom among all the children," Cui Cui added.

"Mm," Lu Wanqing said happily.

Lu Wanqing spent the entire day with Cui Cui in the room until Cui Cui was truly tired, and they climbed onto the bed to rest together.

Lu Wanqing told Cui Cui stories, one after another, for a whole afternoon, finally coaxing Cui Cui to sleep.

After Cui Cui fell asleep, Lu Wanqing looked at Wei Xingzhou.

Lu Wanqing turned and got out of bed.

Wei Xingzhou looked at Cui Cui on the bed, then led Lu Wanqing, and the two of them tiptoed out of the child's room.

"What happened?" Outside the room, Lu Wanqing lowered her voice and asked with concern.
