Chapter 221: Who Is Your In-Law?

Chapter 221: Chapter 221: Who Is Your In-Law?

She didn’t believe in any hocus-pocus, and now life was unlivable. Wasn’t this pushing her to the brink?

If they don’t give her money, then they can forget about Leon Keane marrying Ivana. At worst, she would just ruin Ivana’s engagement. Honestly, she didn’t want that little bitch Ivana to marry into the Kane family and enjoy life.

Jean Shaw was a woman of action, and that very evening, she rushed to the old mansion of the Kane family.

She had it all figured out: this was the time Leon Keane got off work and the little prince of the Kane family finished school. It was perfect to demand her dowry gift. Even if Leon’s mother didn’t want to give it to her, Leon wouldn’t dare turn against her in front of his mother and his own son.

No matter what, she still wasn’t divorced from Caleb Monroe. She was technically Ivana’s stepmother, and even if Leon didn’t care for her face, he’d have to consider Ivana’s.

Jean Shaw was gobsmacked when she saw the luxurious mansion of the Kane family; her eyes almost bulged out.

Oh my God! It’s not just that it’s located in Ravenswood’s prime area; the sheer size of this mansion is more extravagant than anything on TV depicting rich kids’ homes.

Jean Shaw was insanely jealous. How did Leon’s mother have such good fortune to marry a wealthy man like Leon’s father? And that little bitch Ivana also hit the jackpot, being a second-hand woman with a kid and still catching Leon Keane’s eye.

But she and Michelle had the worst luck, their husbands cheated, and Michelle’s life was ruined.

Once inside, she’d shamelessly demand a billion dollars from Leon’s mother by way of compensation.

"Who are you? What do you want?" The Kane family gate wasn’t open to just anyone; especially after Leon’s mother came, the rules became stricter. The servant looked at the unknown old woman outside and asked.

"I’m your future daughter-in-law’s old mother. Open the gate for me," Jean Shaw demanded haughtily. She always looked down on the poor, and when speaking to the Kane family servant, she felt superior, looking up to the sky with disdain.

"Future daughter-in-law? Are you out of your mind, or have you lost your way?" The servant hadn’t heard of any future daughter-in-law, and seeing Jean Shaw’s attitude, she was sure that Shaw was nuts.

The servant had no intention of dealing with Jean Shaw, so Shaw started screaming outside the gate.

"You damned guard dog! How dare you insult me? Let me tell you, I’m Ivana’s mother, and Ivana will soon marry Leon Keane. Then I’ll have Ivana fire you!"

The servant’s expression changed at the mention of Ivana. Recently, she’d heard that President Kane argued with his wife about Ivana.

Not daring to let Shaw in without authorization, she ran to report to Leon’s mother.

Leon’s mother had invited Kiki Jennings to their home, and the two were having a pleasant conversation when Shaw’s appearance spoiled the mood.

"So shameless! Running here even before things are confirmed? With the gall to call herself the future daughter-in-law’s mother? This made Leon’s mother even more disgusted with Ivana. What kind of family are they?"

"Since she’s Ivana’s mother, let’s let her in and see what she wants. Know your enemy and know yourself, it’s always a good idea." Kiki’s pure face flashed an incongruously shadowy look.

The gates of the Kane family opened, and Jean Shaw entered. She spat viciously at the servant: "Damn guard dog! Made me wait outside forever."

The servant was disgusted. After Shaw went inside, the servant headed to the kitchen to wipe off the spit.

When other servants asked what happened,

tThe servant said with hatred, "Bitten by a bitch."

"What? A bitch?"

"Ugh, couldn’t believe the low quality of Ivana’s mom, looking down on people and being so treacherous and insidious."

"Ivana’s mom? Why on earth is she here now? Ivana hasn’t even married into the Kane family yet! Coming at this time is just too shameless, isn’t it?"

"..."

The servants didn’t know that Jean was Ivana’s stepmother, and thanks to Shaw, they mistakenly thought she was Ivana’s birth mother. With such a mother, everyone looked down on Ivana.

Jean Shaw stepped into the Kane house, feeling like every step was on money, not tiles, as expensive furnishings and decor surrounded her.

Upon seeing Leon’s mother, she missed the displeasure on her face; Shaw cheerfully greeted her, "Oh dear, my in-law..."

Leon’s mother’s eyes flashed with disgust and scorn. She coldly said, "Who is your in-law? Speak correctly, not just anything that comes to mind."

Jean Shaw’s smile froze. Noticing Leon’s mother’s unpleasant expression, her heart fluttered. Could it be that Leon’s mom didn’t approve of Leon and Ivana’s marriage?

That bitch Ivana, even Leon’s mom wouldn’t think highly of her.

Shaw put on a fake smile, "What are you saying? Maybe not now, but soon you will be. Your son Leon Keane has already come to my house, speaking with my husband about marrying Ivana. So, my husband asked me to discuss the dowry with you."

Leon’s mother’s face turned dark immediately, disgusted by Shaw’s money-grubbing face.

Kiki remained unperturbed, her mouth curled with a mocking smile. Initially, she thought Ivana was a strong opponent, but seeing Jean, she realized Ivana wasn’t worthy.

At this moment.

Leon Keane had picked up Ivana, and then went to Wellbright Kindergarten to pick up two kids after school.

"Mommy, Daddy." The little Timmy spoke in a sweet voice, coupled with an angelic smile, which made anyone fall for him.

Leon responded warmly, while Ivana gently ruffled Timmy’s little head, "Good boy."

Leon turned to the cool little boy, "Say hello."

"Daddy." Ian Keane nervously wrung his shirt, not daring to look at Ivana, and muttered in a mosquito-like voice, "Mommy."

Leon frowned, wanting Ian to say it louder.

Ivana bent down, affectionately holding Ian’s little waist, lifting the cool little boy up and kissing his cheek, "Good boy."

Ian’s cool little face flushed immediately.

He felt the warmth where Ivana kissed him, as if it was burning. He should wipe Ivana’s spit and escape her embrace, but for some reason, Ian couldn’t refuse the warmth she offered; instead, he instinctively wrapped his arms around her neck, resting his flushed face on her shoulder.

Leon was quite surprised to see Ian’s behavior and knitted his brows. Was this kid a romantic at heart?

If Ian knew his father thought of him this way, he would probably explode in anger.

Ivana shot Leon a reproachful glance. This man was so strict with the kids, not an ounce of fatherly warmth. No wonder Ian was so timid and reluctant to call anyone.

Ivana felt much affection for the little boy in her arms. Holding him felt like she was holding Timmy. She suddenly had a delusion that this child was also a piece of her own flesh.

Seeing Ivana holding Ian, Timmy also wanted to be held. With his outgoing personality, he turned to Leon, with outstretched arms, and ran to Leon’s legs, "Daddy, hug me."
