Chapter 152: Chapter 152: She Thinks She Can Challenge Me?

Leon’s mother waited until evening. Ian came home from school, finished dinner, yet Leon hadn’t returned. Even when Ian went to bed, Leon still wasn’t back.

During this time, Leon’s mother asked Auntie Chamberlain to call Leon’s cell phone from the old house’s phone, but it went unanswered.

Leon’s mother was so angry she nearly had a heart attack, "He’s definitely gone to that witch’s house again."

Auntie Chamberlain was attending to Leon’s mother and, seeing her so angry, deliberately said, "Ma’am, please don’t get upset, ruining your health. That witch Ivana would be thrilled."

"Ma’am, I have to say, you can’t blame President Kane. He’s a man, young and full of energy, and Ivana uses all her tricks to seduce him. Any man would fall for it."

"If there’s blame to be placed, blame Ivana. I think she’s doing this on purpose, knowing little Ian was hospitalized, and you returned. She’s still causing trouble, taking over President Kane. What is she trying to do? She wants to disrupt your relationship with President Kane, and she’s showing off to you!"

Showing off to her?

Auntie Chamberlain’s words made Leon’s mother tremble with rage, her eyes reddened, anger reaching its climax.

"Does she dare to show off to me?"

"Leon is my son, whom I bore for ten months. If she wants to possess him, she needs my consent as his mother."

"Keep calling Leon’s cell phone until he answers and comes home."

"If he turns off his phone again, call Derrick Stern, have him bring this old woman to confront that witch Ivana. I want to see how you’re bewitching my son."

Leon’s mother was determined not to rest until Leon returned to the old house tonight.

Auntie Chamberlain went to make the call but secretly dialed Kiki instead of Leon.

Auntie Chamberlain told Kiki about Leon’s mother almost being driven insane with anger. Kiki grinned on the other end, extremely pleased, but feigned concern for Leon’s mother.

Auntie Chamberlain gave a few perfunctory responses. What kind of person was Kiki? She saw right through her but betrayed her conscience for money, joining forces with Kiki. Now she wasn’t much of a decent person herself.

Before hanging up, Kiki gave Auntie Chamberlain another instruction.

"When you call Leon’s phone, hang up the instant it starts ringing, so his phone won’t actually ring."

"I understand, Miss Kiki."

Kiki had reminded her of this before. Initially, Auntie Chamberlain was skeptical, but experiments proved Kiki right. The reason President Kane hadn’t answered any calls all day was right here.

Because Leon’s phone hadn’t rung.

Auntie Chamberlain wasn’t worried Leon would confront her on this because she did dial his number, and the old house’s phone could show it.

But Leon’s explanation to his mother would be useless because she would only think Leon was defending that witch Ivana and making excuses.

Auntie Chamberlain had to admit that Kiki, despite her age, was very clever and extremely ruthless.

She hung up the phone.

Kiki set her phone aside, lips curling, and leaned over her desk to continue poking at a photo with a steel needle for removing blackheads. Who else could the photo be of but Ivana?

At that moment, Ivana’s once smooth and fair face on the photo was full of tiny puncture marks from Kiki’s needle.

Kiki venomously muttered, "Bitch, slut, trying to seduce my Leon. Go to hell."

When joyful events arrive, one feels buoyant.

This was Leon’s state now. Returning to the office in the afternoon, he dove into work, with his thin lips sometimes curling slightly upwards.

Secretary Sullivan trembled as she carried a folder into Leon’s executive office. She had made a mistake that morning and was scared to death that Leon would scold her.

But, to her surprise, when President Kane found out, he didn’t lose his temper and gently reminded her, "Be more careful next time."

Secretary Sullivan was astonished. It was as if seven-colored beams appeared before her eyes. President Kane’s expression, usually so daunting and severe, was now gentle, lips seemingly lifted in a slight smile.

Oh my God!

Could President Kane have won a billion-dollar lottery?

No, even signing a billion-dollar deal never made him this happy, and he would scold her for mistakes as usual.

Could it be...

A beautiful woman suddenly crossed Secretary Sullivan’s mind. Did President Kane perhaps win over a beauty, making him so joyous?

"Why are you still standing here? Get back to work," Leon frowned, unaccustomed to such a gaze, especially from his secretary. Was this little secretary perhaps infatuated with his handsome face?

Leon frowned even more deeply. No, he had to reassign Secretary Sullivan. Ivana was a lemon, having just finished being jealous of Kiki; he couldn’t let her get jealous of Secretary Sullivan as well.

Less than an hour later,

Secretary Sullivan received a call from the human resources department, transferring her to logistics to answer phones.

Secretary Sullivan was dumbfounded, tears welled up, and she cried. What had she done wrong for President Kane to treat her this way? Was it because of her mistake that morning? But President Kane had clearly told her to just be more careful next time, not that he would transfer her.

She wanted desperately to run to Leon’s office and ask why he was doing this.

But she lacked the courage. She called Derrick Stern, and as soon as he picked up, her tears flowed like a flood, crying out loud.

Derrick Stern was shocked by Secretary Sullivan’s crying, "Susie, don’t cry! Did someone bully you? Tell your brother Derrick."

Normally, she found Derrick’s endearing "Susie" nauseating, but today, it felt comforting.

Secretary Sullivan tearfully shared her grievances with Derrick, choking up, "Derrick, could you ask President Kane for me what’s wrong? If I made a mistake, I can change. Just don’t transfer me to logistics to answer phones."

"My parents proudly tell relatives and friends that I work as the president’s secretary at Kane Group. They take pride in me. Now, suddenly transferring me to logistics is hard to accept, and my parents won’t accept it either. I’m scared they won’t feel proud in front of relatives and friends."

The gap between logistics and being a president’s secretary is vast!

Derrick didn’t dare to ask Leon. He had just been transferred back from a godforsaken place abroad and didn’t want to be sent back to such a place again.

Thinking of a solution, Derrick suddenly thought of someone.

"Susie, I have a suggestion. Go find Ivana."
