Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Heart Fluttering
"I don’t know from what angle you saw her kiss me. But, I believe you should know, in filming there’s a term called misplacement. I am telling you very responsibly now, what you saw was misplacement, someone purposely made sure you saw it."
"Lastly, if you don’t believe me, I can take you to Kiki to clear things up. The one I, Leon Keane, like, is Ivana Monroe, and the one I want to marry is also her."
Leon Keane’s gaze was candid and honest. In that moment, Ivana Monroe was dazed. Was it misplacement? Did Kiki purposely let her see it?
Faced with Leon Keane’s sudden confession, Ivana Monroe’s heart trembled, and her cheeks flushed hot.
Leon Keane looked at her, his throat tightened, and unable to resist, he leaned down to kiss her enticing red lips.
Once again captured by his kiss, Ivana Monroe’s body tensed. She knew it was wrong, but she couldn’t bring herself to stop him from deepening the kiss.
His voice lingered in her ears. He said the one he liked was her, and the one he wanted to marry was also her.
Ivana Monroe’s heart fluttered because of his words...
Hugo Young was already troubled and exhausted due to the company’s loan application not going through. Suddenly, he received an anonymous message on WeChat—a video clip.
Had Hugo Young been in a good mood, he would’ve opened it to take a look, but now his spirits were so low he had no desire to open the video.
Frustrated, Hugo Young used his thumb to close WeChat, when something strange happened—the video suddenly played automatically.
In it appeared Bella Young hitting Old Madam Young, the scene seeming to be in a courtroom.
Hugo Young’s eyes widened immediately. After watching the video, his broad face turned incredibly grim.
Hugo Young made a phone call to Bella Young, "Which hospital are you at?"
Receiving the call from Hugo Young, Bella Young was genuinely startled. She didn’t have time to think—how did he know she was at the hospital? Did he know about Old Madam Young being hit?
Bella Young was very scared, her voice trembling slightly, "Hugo, Mom fell. It seems quite serious. Mom and I are at the Third Hospital."
Bella Young chose to lie, clinging to the hope that Hugo Young couldn’t possibly know she had hit Old Madam Young. While Old Madam Young was still unconscious and unable to tell Hugo Young the truth, she wanted to deflect the blame.
Hugo Young said nothing and directly hung up the phone, fearing that if he spoke, he wouldn’t be able to resist cursing.
"Bella Young, you even dare to hit Mom and lie to me? Just wait until I get to the Third Hospital. I’ll beat you, you unfilial bitch."
Hearing the beeping tone from the phone, Bella Young felt a bit out of sorts. Hugo seemed angry. What should she do now? Run away immediately or stay and take a gamble?
If Bella Young won the lawsuit and got the money, she wouldn’t hesitate to run faster than a rabbit. But she didn’t have any money now! If she ran away, she couldn’t survive!
Stay? What if the old lady wakes up?
That damn old lady would definitely tell Hugo and have him beat her to death.
Bella Young wished Old Madam Young would fall into a coma permanently, so Hugo would never learn the truth.
While Bella Young was plotting her evil thoughts, Old Madam Young suddenly woke up, letting out a couple of groans.
The nurse wheeled Old Madam Young out of the emergency room, saying to Bella Young, "Are you the patient’s family? If so, follow me. The elderly lady is awake but needs a few more tests. If everything’s fine, she’ll be discharged tomorrow."
Bella Young’s heart panicked, with a gleam of malice in her eyes. That damn old lady, why did she have to wake up? At such an age, she might as well have just died. Waking up now is only causing her trouble.
Bella Young followed behind the stretcher that the nurse was pushing; she saw Old Madam Young glaring upwards with angry eyes.
"Bella Young, call Hugo right now, tell him to come to the hospital." Old Madam Young, having lived so many years, couldn’t swallow the fact she’d been knocked out and hospitalized by Bella Young.
"Mom, please calm down. I’ve already called Hugo; he’s on his way to the hospital now." Bella Young knew Old Madam Young’s temper too well. When this old lady got angry, she could say anything. Bella Young feared Old Madam Young would reveal she had been knocked out in front of the nurse.
"Calm down? You dare ask me to calm down? There’s no more vicious daughter-in-law in the world than you. The way you treat me—aren’t you afraid of divine retribution, of going to hell?" Old Madam Young couldn’t hold back the fury, needing to vent it.
Old Madam Young continued, "Bella Young, just you wait. When Hugo arrives, you will suffer. How you treated me in the courtroom and how you hit me—I want Hugo to return all of it onto you."
The nurse, after hearing Old Madam Young’s words, turned to glance at Bella Young, her eyes filled with astonishment and disdain.
Bella Young quickly said, "Mom, you’re confused! It was that bitch Ivana who hit you! I merely went to break up the fight, and you fell. How can you wrongfully blame me for this?"
"Mom, if you want to blame someone, blame Ivana! She pushed you on purpose!"
Now even the nurse was confused. Seeing Bella Young’s reddened eyes, she didn’t seem to be lying. Could it be this old lady misunderstood her?
There are many elderly at this age afflicted with dementia.
"What are you saying? Bella Young, you bitch, are you cursing me for being demented?" Old Madam Young was furious, her face turning pale and then green, "Don’t think you can push the blame onto Ivana. It was you, bitch, who hit me. Hugo won’t confront Ivana; he’ll only hold you accountable."
Old Madam Young was breathless with rage. How hadn’t she noticed how vicious Bella Young was before? This bitch was too adept at pretending in the Young family, putting on a weak and sympathetic act.
"Family member of the patient, please say less. Can’t you see the elderly woman is about to be angered to death by you?" The nurse pushed the stretcher into the ward, seeing Old Madam Young gasping. She hurried to help her calm down, advising her, "Auntie, you’ve just woken up from a coma; please don’t get worked up. Don’t go against your own health, okay? If you’re harmed by this, others it won’t matter to, but it’ll only sadden those who truly care about you."
Bella Young inwardly blamed the nurse for speaking unnecessarily. It would be better if Old Madam Young was angered to death! Her home would be at peace if she were gone.
Hearing the nurse’s words, Old Madam Young gradually calmed down.
The nurse had other matters to attend to, so she left Old Madam Young to Bella Young. Upon her departure, she added, "She’s an elderly woman, after all. Be a bit more tolerant; don’t upset her any further."
Bella Young inwardly cursed, "Mind your own business!"
Outwardly, she agreed, "Hmm, I understand. Thank you for helping persuade Mom."
