Chapter 158: Chapter 158: See How Good Your Wife Is!

Hugo Young lifted his pudgy face, his reddened eyes startling Bella Young.

"Hugo..."

Hugo Young suddenly raised his hand and slapped Bella Young hard: "Shut up, my mother was right, you’re a jinx. If I hadn’t married you, how would I have ended up like this?"

Hugo Young’s slap was forceful, and Bella Young’s mouth started bleeding from the corner. Her head buzzed, and a fiery pain spread across her face.

Her eyes turned red, tears silently streamed down as she saw Hugo Young’s ferocious look. She felt a bit scared, extremely wronged, thinking it was Old Madam Young causing trouble again, making Hugo Young suddenly act insane.

If Hugo Young hadn’t slapped her, Bella Young might have clapped inside her mind, hoping Old Madam Young’s condition would worsen, never to wake again.

However, Hugo Young’s slap was too vicious; it left her with no joy, only curses. She wished Old Madam Young would die immediately.

Crying, Bella Young gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, you should have listened to your mother and never married me, the jinx."

After hitting Bella Young, Hugo Young saw the blood at the corner of her mouth, feeling a momentary regret. But Bella Young’s backtalk made his little remorse vanish entirely.

"You dare talk back?"

Hugo Young stretched out his snarling face and grabbed Bella Young. As she resisted, he pinned her down on the ground, swinging his fists relentlessly at her frail body.

Bella Young screamed incessantly until nurses and doctors outside heard the cries and came to pull Hugo Young away.

The doctor rebuked Hugo Young: "This is a hospital, how can you, as a man, beat your wife in the ward?"

Hugo Young glared fiercely at the doctor: "I’m hitting my wife, what’s it to you?"

The doctor, somewhat afraid of Hugo Young, stepped back and said, "It’s illegal to hit your wife; the police can deal with you."

Bella Young escaped Hugo Young’s punches. She was helped up by the nurses, her eyes and cheeks bruised, showing how terribly she had been hit.

She trembled in the nurse’s arms, filled with extreme hatred: "Call the police, I want to report him for domestic violence."

An incident like this in the hospital had already prompted someone to call the police even before Bella Young uttered those words.

The police arrived in the hospital ward within a quarter of an hour.

When Hugo Young was about to be taken away, he sat in a chair, clutching his head, and cried bitterly: "It’s over, everything is over. The Young Group no longer exists..."

Bella Young returned to the ward after getting an X-ray and medication, hearing Hugo Young’s cries. Her heart chilled, she pushed past the police, ran to Hugo Young, and shoved him, her voice trembling: "Hugo Young, what do you mean by that? The Young Group no longer exists? Do you mean the Young Group has gone bankrupt?"

Hugo Young, immersed in his sorrow, wept uncontrollably, completely oblivious to anyone’s words.

Seeing this, Bella Young had a realization, her body swayed and her eyes turned red as if she had suffered a severe blow. She had stayed with Hugo Young all this time just because he could provide her with a rich life? She endured being meek in the Young family for this?

Bella Young suddenly felt all her past suffering had been for nothing.

Bella Young’s tears trickled to her mouth, her lips moved, thoughts flashing through her mind, she longed to hurl vile words at Hugo Young and wanted to rush to Old Madam Young’s sickbed to give her several fierce slaps.

She wanted all her grievances to be returned to Hugo Young and Old Madam Young, but with the police there, she couldn’t do it.

As the police reached out to pull Hugo Young up, a thought struck her. She wiped away her tears and, unusually, pleaded on Hugo Young’s behalf.

"Don’t take my husband away. My husband’s company went bankrupt, and he was under severe stress when he argued with me. This doesn’t count as domestic violence, I’ve forgiven him, please don’t take him away, he’s already pitiful enough."

The police, seeing the victim pleading, said, "Are you sure you’ve forgiven your husband?"

Bella Young nodded.

The police nodded and patted Hugo Young’s shoulder: "See how good your wife is? The company might have failed, but you can start over. If you chase away such a good wife by hitting her, you’ll regret it for a lifetime."

After speaking, the police left the ward.

Hugo Young raised his reddened eyes, looked at Bella Young, and saw the bruises on her beaten face. He suddenly felt a tinge of guilt, his voice hoarse: "Bella, I have nothing now, do you really still want to stay by my side?"

"Hugo, I don’t care, I’m willing."

"Bella, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have hit you. I, Hugo Young, swear, I’ll never lay hands on you again. If I do, I’m no human."

Seeing Bella Young still willing to stay, Hugo Young was deeply moved.

Bella Young coldly laughed inside. Her willingness to stay wasn’t to suffer along with Hugo Young or take care of that old hag Old Madam Young. She had endured grievance from the Young family for so many years, and been beaten several times by Hugo Young. This suffering couldn’t be for nothing. If she didn’t take advantage of Hugo Young’s current downfall to exact revenge, she’d feel she’d let herself down.

Bella Young suddenly hoped Old Madam Young would wake up soon. Without the Young Group, Hugo Young was nothing. What was Old Madam Young? If Bella Young didn’t piss off Old Madam Young until she was spitting blood, Bella Young could spell her name backward.

Bella Young’s heart was filled with the desire for revenge.

Not long after the Young Group declared bankruptcy, Derrick Stern, assistant to Leon Keane, appeared before several shareholders of the Young Group, purchasing the Young Group at a low price.

However, there was a clause: all shareholders of the Young Group had to stay as employees, with a contract spanning five years and a yearly salary of one million paid by the Kanes.

Although this million annual salary seemed much smaller than the dividends they once received, with the Young Group bankrupt, their average age being fifty-sixty, only Hugo Young, taking over from his father, being the youngest.

These shareholders weren’t likely to find the energy they had when they were young or another way to earn a million annually, so they might as well stay and coast until retirement, accumulating at least five million.

The shareholders quickly signed; they signed a contract, and Derrick Stern asked them to include Hugo Young’s name, finding someone among them who could imitate Hugo Young’s handwriting, they signed for him.

After all, they all had to stay, it was the same whether Hugo Young signed himself or not.
