Chapter 160: Chapter 160: I Want to Marry Her
Leon’s mother slowly calmed her emotions, came down from the second floor, and saw Ian sitting at the dining table, waiting for her to come down and dine together. Her heart softened.
Look at her grandson, how sensible and well-behaved he is, waiting to eat with his grandmother.
Leon’s mother felt very guilty. She wasn’t a competent grandmother; she had let Ian go hungry with her in order to make Leon come back.
"Auntie Chamberlain, serve a bowl of soup to Ian to stave off his hunger."
Auntie Chamberlain responded, walked over to Ian, picked up the small soup bowl on his table with great care, filled it with the fish and egg soup, and placed it in front of Ian.
Ian didn’t take it, so Auntie Chamberlain set the soup on the dining table.
Ian asked, "Aren’t we starting the meal? Are we waiting for someone?"
With affection, Leon’s mother said, "Your daddy is on his way home; shall we wait for him to have dinner together?"
Ian frowned, a flicker of surprise in his dark eyes. Wasn’t Daddy at that woman’s house? How could he be coming back at this time?
Ian gave a faint "Hmm."
Half an hour passed quickly.
Leon drove to the old house, parked his car, opened the door, and strode into the Kane family’s luxurious villa.
In the dining room, Leon looked at his mother and Ian.
"President Kane, you’re finally back. Madam and the young master have been waiting for you to have dinner!" Auntie Chamberlain said fawningly to Leon, then instructed the servants reheating the dishes: "President Kane is back, hurry up. Madam and the young master are hungry, and so is President Kane!"
The two servants who were heating the dishes, both about the same age as Auntie Chamberlain, were somewhat disgruntled with her. Why did she think she had the right to order them around when they were all servants?
Auntie Chamberlain was simply a sycophant fawning over the master.
Leon looked at his mother’s stern face, frowned, pulled out a chair, and sat next to Ian.
Auntie Chamberlain quickly moved the utensils from another seat in front of Leon, standing by like a high-class butler, ready to serve the three masters at any time.
The dishes were reheated and brought to the table.
Ian’s stomach growled audibly.
Leon heard it and, glancing at Ian, expressed concern: "Hungry? Go ahead and start eating."
Ian’s usually cool face blushed slightly; he was hungry. He had never eaten this late before, so how could he not be hungry?
The bowl of soup Grandma had served him wasn’t enough to stave off hunger!
Leon’s mother also heard Ian’s stomach growl and felt a pang for her grandson. She quickly asked Auntie Chamberlain to serve Ian rice and dishes.
Leon’s mother glanced at Leon reproachfully. Isn’t it because they were waiting for him? She also felt filled with loathing and resentment towards Ivana. It was that shameless vixen who seduced Leon, which is why Ian was hungry until now.
"You don’t have to serve me; I have my own hands and can serve myself."
Ian decisively refused Auntie Chamberlain. Back when Timmy was around, he had scared her into submission, and she wouldn’t dare to serve this little master proactively.
Ian had become accustomed to serving himself after swapping back with Timmy, so he found it uncomfortable when Leon’s mother instructed Auntie Chamberlain to serve him. Her actions made him feel like a cripple.
Leon’s mother would never force Ian to do something he didn’t want to do.
Watching Ian serve himself, Leon’s mother felt nothing but heartache. Look at this child, forced to be so self-reliant around Leon?
Ian is only six! Who’s encouraging Leon to treat Ian this way behind the scenes?
Leon’s mother blamed Ivana for it.
She was furious but restrained herself, bearing it until Ian and Leon finished dinner. Then she called Leon to the study to talk privately.
She didn’t want Ian to hear, to prevent hurting her precious grandson.
After eating, Leon’s mother, filled with anger, felt with no appetite, casually ate a few bites just to deal with her hunger.
Leon noticed and frowned: "Mom, you’re eating too little, have more."
Leon’s mother replied with irritation: "Do you still remember to care for this mother of yours?"
Leon put down his chopsticks and stopped eating: "Mom, I have always been concerned about you."
Ian paused his eating to watch Leon’s mother and Leon.
Auntie Chamberlain immediately advised from Leon’s mother’s side: "Madam, President Kane is your son; surely he’s the one who cares about you most in this world. Please eat a bit more! If you stop, President Kane and the young master won’t eat either."
Seeing Ian stop, Leon’s mother, feeling for her grandson, picked up her chopsticks again and began eating.
That dinner was uncomfortable for Leon’s mother.
Holding onto a grudge, how could she not feel uncomfortable?
After dinner.
Ian went upstairs to his room to study.
Leon’s mother called Leon to the study, instructing him to close the door.
She didn’t want Ian hearing this and being hurt.
Leon closed the door and turned around, startled by the anger he saw in his mother’s eyes.
Despite her anger, Leon’s mother targeted Ivana with her wrath. She wouldn’t genuinely resent Leon, only blame him for being blind and mesmerized by that despicable vixen Ivana.
Leon’s mother took a deep breath and spoke: "Leon, I have already selected a few suitable heiresses for you. These heiresses are not only talented and beautiful but, more importantly, virtuous. They will treat Ian as their own."
Leon frowned and said: "Mom, I don’t want to marry anyone else. I’ve told you, I already have someone I love, and I want to marry her. She will be better to Ian than anyone else."
Leon didn’t believe a stepmother could be better than a biological mother to her own child.
Even though Ivana didn’t know Ian was her biological child, from her attitude towards Ian and Ian’s attitude towards her, it was evident that the magic and greatness of blood ties were undeniable.
Leon’s mother furiously replied: "Leon, have you been bewitched by that vixen outside? Do you want to marry her to anger me to death? Fine, you still insist on marrying Ivana, don’t you? Unless I’m dead, and your red carpet is the road paved with my corpse."
Seeing his mother so agitated and angry, Leon frowned tightly: "Mom, calm down; the situation isn’t what you think. Ivana isn’t the kind of woman you say she is. She’s a good person, will be wonderful to Ian, and will also respect and be filial to you."
Leon’s mother was almost infuriated to death by Leon. She raised a good son, huh, constantly defending that vixen. Did he even have a shred of regard for her as his mother?
Leon’s mother angrily exclaimed: "Come on! She’s going to respect me? She wishes I were dead; otherwise, why would she let you stay in her vixen’s lair when she knew Ian was hospitalized and unwell, but I had returned?"
"She didn’t, you’ve wronged her. It’s your son who couldn’t endure the loneliness of the night, willingly went to her place, shamelessly begging her to take him in." Leon was a bit regretful. He should not have craved Ivana’s body at that time, causing his mother to misunderstand Ivana.
