Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Please, Save My Husband
Dragon and Samuel Lockwood got into a fight. Dragon was clearly no match for Samuel, so his underlings left one person to watch over Ivy Linden while the others went to help Dragon.
"Stop fighting, stop fighting, I’m begging you, please stop..."
So many people were bullying Samuel Lockwood. He took quite a few punches. Watching her husband being beaten by a group, Ivy cried out heart-wrenchingly.
Howard Yeats heard Ivy’s voice, shuddered all over, and sprinted towards the direction of the sound.
When he arrived, he saw Ivy, tears streaming down her face, being held by a man, with a group of people beating another man. Seeing that the man’s clothing didn’t match his friend’s, he turned his head to rescue Ivy.
"Let her go."
Howard Yeats, standing tall at a standard height of over six feet, grew up in a military family. Shedding all playfulness, he exuded a formidable soldier’s aura.
The small-time thug, with his shifty eyes, was most afraid of someone like Howard Yeats, who was akin to a cat confronting a mouse.
"You... don’t come over..."
Howard raised his hand, the cracking sound of his fist audible: "I’ll give you one more chance, let her go."
The thug hesitated for two seconds, then suddenly pushed Ivy towards Howard: "She’s yours."
The thug ran faster than a rabbit.
Howard caught Ivy.
"Are you..." alright?
"Samuel..."
Ivy pushed away from Howard, crying as she ran towards Samuel who was being beaten by the group.
Howard was stunned for a moment, then frowned, hearing her call "Samuel," why did it sound so jarring?
Howard turned, crossing his arms, not intending to help Samuel. A man who couldn’t even handle a few thugs—useless, such a man couldn’t protect his own woman.
Ivy really was blind to choose such a useless man.
The group of thugs, seeing red as they beat Samuel, didn’t notice Ivy rushing over, and one of them threw a punch, knocking Ivy to the ground, blood oozing from her mouth.
Howard’s expression turned icy as he reprimanded, "Brute."
He strode over, picked Ivy up, and took her to Lionel, who was getting up.
Ivy’s cheek and mouth were swollen, and she cried, "Please, save my husband."
Howard’s face turned cold, but seeing her in such a state, he didn’t argue with her, merely murmured indifferently, "Mm." He turned and charged towards the thugs, his iron fists knocking them down one by one.
Howard, being well-trained, hit extremely hard. The thugs were no match for him, and it wasn’t long before he had them fleeing in panic.
Dragon had already been knocked out by Samuel.
Samuel raised his head, his face bruised, yet he didn’t utter a word of pain. After glancing at Howard, he said, "Thank you."
Howard ignored Samuel; he wasn’t familiar with him. He had only helped because of Ivy.
"Samuel."
Ivy ran to Samuel crying, seeing the severity of his wounds, her heart felt twisted, and tears fell uncontrollably.
Samuel pulled Ivy into his arms. Though he had been kicked numerous times by the thugs, holding Ivy close, the pain was worth it, and he wouldn’t let go.
"Ivy... Please, don’t leave me again."
It would be a lie to say Ivy wasn’t touched. She cried even louder, "You fool, you can’t beat them. Why didn’t you call the police?"
Samuel replied, "Yes, I’m a fool. Seeing them with knives against you, my brain stopped working. I just wanted to kill all those scum to save my darling wife."
Ivy cried even harder, "Samuel Lockwood... You’re such an idiot."
Howard smirked, "Darling wife?" Gross~ It’s so nauseating.
What do they say? Flaunt your love, die fast.
They flaunt like this out here, probably not far from divorce.
Ken Mercer was the last one to arrive. Seeing two buddies there, Lionel’s face bruised, then noticing Samuel and Ivy embracing, he decided not to interrupt.
Ken patted Lionel’s shoulder, "Lionel, are you alright?"
Lionel shook his head, "I’m fine."
Ken glanced at Dragon, who lay unconscious on the ground, a chill passed through his eyes, walking up to kick Dragon a few times, "Damn scum, dare to touch my buddy?"
Seeing this, Lionel ran to Ken’s side, "Ken, stop hitting him. If he dies, it’ll be troublesome. Have Howard call someone to lock this scum up."
Ken nodded, ready to tell Howard about it.
Howard turned, "Not my problem."
Howard walked away.
Ken, Lionel stood in shock, wondering who pissed Howard off?
After separating from Ivy, Ken was taken aback seeing Samuel’s beaten face.
"Holy shit, you got beaten so severely?"
"Thank you, Ken."
Samuel’s bruised face gave Ken a grateful smile.
Ken: Boss, don’t smile, that’s terrifying.
Ken, concerned, said, "No need to thank me. Since you’re so badly hurt, let me take you to the hospital!"
Samuel didn’t refuse.
Ken took Lionel to the hospital as well. Lionel hadn’t driven, and his injuries were light, after getting some medicine, he received a call. After hanging up, his expression turned uneasy. He thanked Ken and said he had to leave first.
Ken nodded.
Samuel’s injuries weren’t too serious, but not light either. With bruises and swelling on his face and multiple soft tissue damages on his body, but all superficial, the doctor prescribed some anti-swelling topical medicine and some antibiotics.
Ken then drove them both back home.
Ivy helped Samuel out of the car and thanked Ken. But turning around, she saw Samuel’s mother standing at the door.
Ivy was startled.
Ken had intended to leave but seeing Samuel’s mother, felt it rude to leave without saying a word.
Ken got out of the car.
"Mom." Samuel smiled, "I brought Ivy back."
Samuel’s mother looked displeased, seeing the injuries on Samuel’s face, her heart ached deeply: "Sam, what happened to your face? Who beat you like this?"
Samuel smiled and said, "It’s nothing, just ran into some hooligans..."
Samuel’s mother suddenly sharper, "What? Ran into hooligans?"
She turned, angrily glaring at Ivy: "Why would hooligans beat my son? Did you provoke them? You’re really a troublemaker."
Ivy’s face turned pale, tears welled in her eyes.
Ken: "..."
Samuel: "Mom, don’t blame Ivy. It’s not her fault."
Samuel’s mother retorted, "How is it not related? If she hadn’t thrown a tantrum and left, you wouldn’t have had to find her? If she wasn’t out fooling around, attracting thugs, thugs wouldn’t have beaten you."
Samuel’s mother sniffed the strong alcohol smell on Ivy and gave Ivy a murderous look, unable to control her hand from slapping Ivy: "Drinking so much, making Sam cover for you? You can’t fool me, you disaster, you unlucky star, do you want to kill Samuel before you’re satisfied?"
