Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Single Dogs Are Suffering, Aren’t They?
That suck-up Manager Hamilton finally hit the mark this time.
Leon Keane just got his marriage certificate with Ivana Monroe, making them a legal couple.
Ivana’s fair face flushed slightly, and she said nothing.
Leon smiled and said, "Oh, and you’re right, from now on, she’ll be your Lady Kane. Announce it at tomorrow’s morning meeting: I’ve just gotten the certificate with Lady Kane, and we’ll hold the wedding in a few days."
Ivana didn’t expect Leon to announce it in front of the staff.
Manager Hamilton was surprised and exaggeratedly said, "Wow~ Congratulations, congratulations! Wishing President Kane and Lady Kane eternal happiness and many children."
Ivana felt so embarrassed.
Leon, on the other hand, was very pleased and, stroking his chin, said, "Many children? Hmm! I already have two sons. What I lack is a daughter. Honey, will you give me a daughter next?"
Ivana: "..."
Ivana gave Leon a glare as if to say, "Don’t you know ours is a marriage of convenience? How could I give you another daughter?"
The dishes arrived swiftly. Ten top-grade sea urchins were split open, revealing the golden, tender meat, which looked appetizing.
Fearing the new server might not properly attend to President Kane and Ivana, Manager Hamilton personally carried the plates to serve them.
The Buddha Jumps Over the Wall soup was served to the lady first, handed to Ivana, then to Leon.
After serving the dishes, Manager Hamilton stepped aside.
Leon picked up a pair of chopsticks with his long fingers and grabbed a fresh sea urchin for Ivana, "Try it."
He held the chopsticks in position, as if inviting her to take it directly with her mouth.
Ivana’s cheeks turned a bright red, like a blooming crabapple, pink over white, particularly alluring. She held a small porcelain bowl with golden rims, extending it, "Thank you."
Leon’s breath hitched, and he couldn’t take his eyes off her charming, beautiful face.
He placed the sea urchin into her small bowl, not once pulling his gaze away, as he watched her take it into her mouth in three small bites.
Watching her eat was delightful. Her small lips moved, lips glistening faintly; Leon lost his appetite, instead overwhelmed with a desire to capture her small lips with his own.
Under Leon’s intense gaze, Ivana felt thoroughly uncomfortable.
"You should eat too!"
Ivana raised her head, only to meet Leon’s hungry eyes. She was startled—did he have to stare at her like a wolf eyeing prey?
"Feed me."
Leon’s voice was hoarse.
Ivana’s face turned even redder, swearing to herself never to dine alone with Leon again, as he was too dangerous.
She randomly placed some food on his plate.
Intending to place it in Leon’s bowl, she was caught by surprise when he leaned in and captured it with his mouth directly from her chopsticks.
Ivana was left speechless.
"It’s delicious," Leon said with a satisfied smile.
Watching from the side, Manager Hamilton had a taste of their PDA, feeling unshed tears. President Kane, do you think about the single folks when you’re showering PDA?
Isn’t it too cruel for the singles?
At a nearby table, someone secretly took a picture of the scene and quickly sent it to Kiki Jennings.
Kiki was getting her hair done at a salon, planning to visit the Kane family residence afterward to gain Mother Kane’s favor. Lately, she had been studying how to make cordyceps soup at home, bringing a box of cordyceps to personally cook and nourish Mother Kane.
Suddenly, WeChat pinged.
Kiki, engaged in flirtatious banter with the young man doing her hair, was in a good mood and smiling when she picked up the phone. But as she took a look, her smiling face instantly froze and slightly twisted.
The young man, sensitive to others’ moods, noticing Kiki’s expression, asked, "Kylie love, what’s wrong? Did I hurt you?"
He was coloring Kiki’s hair, handling it gently, and his comment carried a suggestive undertone.
After all, Kiki was a regular client, and they weren’t strangers to flirtation.
"It’s not your fault."
Kiki gritted her teeth as she deleted a picture of Leon eating food from Ivana’s chopsticks.
More gloating messages popped up from the other end.
"Kiki, did you see the picture? Your dear Leon is having dinner with a vixen! They seem quite cozy together. Do you know this vixen?"
The message was from one of Kiki’s classmates, who was there when Kiki had a private belated birthday celebration and accidentally ran into Leon and Ivana.
To avoid Leon seeking out Ivana, Kiki deliberately paraded him in front of her two classmates.
Coincidentally, those two were at The Sovereign, invited by a wealthy young man, and unexpectedly spotted Leon with a woman.
The two classmates were unsettled, but refrained from expressing it in front of the rich guy. Instead, they secretly took a picture, sending it to Kiki.
It should be Kiki who was the most infuriated by this.
Furious, Kiki didn’t respond, refusing to let them laugh at her.
But the classmates had no intention of sparing Kiki; they took turns messaging her when she didn’t respond.
Hearing the continuous pinging of Kiki’s WeChat, the young guy commented playfully, "Your phone keeps buzzing. Could it be a guy pursuing you?"
"In which case, I should be worried."
In her irritability, Kiki chuckled at his remark, "What are you worried about?"
He leaned in close, whispering into her ear playfully, "I like you! Why wouldn’t I be worried?"
Sensitized by his flirtation, Kiki felt a shiver run through her; even her voice softened, "There’s no future for us. I’m a socialite in Ravenswood, and you’re just a stylist; my parents wouldn’t approve."
He adopted a heartbroken expression, "Then what should I do with this raging, uncontainable heart?"
Kiki glanced at his handsome, sorrowful face with a sigh—if only dear Leon felt the same way about her.
Alas! She pined for someone who didn’t reciprocate her feelings, while the ones she didn’t care for were deeply infatuated.
The young stylist completed Kiki’s hair treatment, applying nourishing essence to style it, and worked a natural curl into her dry hair, presenting a pure, girlish reflection in the mirror.
Kiki was very pleased.
With his hands on Kiki’s shoulders, the young man’s handsome face nearly touched hers as they both gazed into the opposite mirror.
Kiki’s breath hitched, and her ears turned red.
He softly blew into her ear, "Kylie, you’re the source of my life. Without you, I’d suffer to death. I know we don’t fit together by status. I don’t hope for marriage with you, for forever. I just want a moment with you."
"Kylie, please give me that chance!"
