Chapter 216: Chapter 216: We’re Legally Married
Leon Keane appeared in Oscar Olsen’s field of vision. He walked to Ivana Monroe’s side and naturally extended his arm, wrapping it around Ivana’s shoulder, drawing the delicate woman into his embrace.
Leon Keane’s dark eyes held a smile, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. He was declaring to Oscar Olsen that this woman was his wife, and no other man should even think about touching her.
Oscar, a macho man, was stunned by Leon Keane’s handsome looks. How could there be a man more handsome than him in this world?
Oscar felt very uncomfortable. Silas Joyce is one thing; that guy had good grades in college, academically crushing him. But with his unrivaled good looks, he could easily outshine Silas in attracting women.
However, in facing Leon Keane, Oscar felt like his own good looks were being overshadowed.
"Don’t do this." Ivana frowned, trying to escape from his embrace.
She and Oscar were partners; Oscar helped her find a store and even personally brought her here. She already felt a bit embarrassed. But Leon Keane suddenly came running over doing this—what did it mean? Was he suspecting something between her and Oscar?
Ivana really disliked this feeling of being misunderstood.
"I don’t care who you are. Do you hear me? She asked you to let her go. Also, everyone agrees Ivana is beautiful, but just because you like her and want to pursue her doesn’t mean you can casually call her your wife. Calling someone ’wife’ without a marriage certificate is just being a rogue."
Seeing Leon Keane’s arm tightly around Ivana, Oscar had an impulse to forcefully wrench that arm away. He hadn’t been this intimate with Ivana before.
This man, what right did he have?
Leon Keane hugged her tighter, not giving Ivana a chance to break free. He lowered his dark eyes, looking at the woman in his arms, his thin lips smiling: "Wife, tell him, am I being a rogue?"
Ivana: "..."
This man was always domineering. Unable to struggle free, Ivana decided not to confront him head-on. The mall was bustling with people; making a scene would be too shameful.
Ivana told Oscar: "We’ve already registered our marriage."
After Ivana said this, the smile on Leon Keane’s face gained warmth.
He looked at Oscar, like a victorious peacock flaunting its beautiful feathers, proudly saying: "Did you hear that? We have a certificate; we’re legally married."
This news was very shocking to Oscar.
His mouth formed an ’o’ shape, his face stiff: "You... you guys... are really married?"
Leon Keane laughed: "Want me to show you the marriage certificate?"
Oscar, not believing, said: "Show it to me."
Who would’ve thought.
Leon Keane actually took out the marriage certificate in front of Oscar, intentionally opening it to show him. The bright red marriage certificate bore a seal, with a couple in white shirts, a perfect match, a union made in heaven.
Ivana saw this and was incredulous; Leon Keane actually carried their marriage certificate in his pocket?
After viewing the certificate, Oscar’s expression was a bit dejected; this was the person he admired, and this man had beaten him to it.
Oscar, disappointed, said: "You better treat her well."
Leon Keane, treating the marriage certificate like a treasure, tucked it back into his suit pocket, patting Oscar on the shoulder: "Absolutely, with my wife being so beautiful, if I don’t treat her well and she gets lured away by a man like you, what would I do?"
Oscar frowned, thinking this man’s tongue was too sharp.
A man like him? What kind of man was he? A beast? Seducing a married woman?
Oscar only blamed himself for meeting Ivana too late. If they had met earlier, it wouldn’t necessarily be this man gloating in front of him—who knows whose wife Ivana would be!
"Ivana, I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving first." Oscar no longer wanted to speak with Leon Keane.
"Mm." Ivana replied.
As soon as Oscar left, Ivana pushed Leon Keane’s arm away. Could he not cling to her like this in public?
After driving Oscar away, Leon Keane wasn’t angry when Ivana pushed his arm down: "Wife, about those two stores you just looked at, are you happy with them? If not, the stores at Century Plaza and Mansa Plaza are yours to choose. If you like any, I’ll secure them for you."
Ivana was deeply shocked: "Century Plaza and Mansa Plaza are your properties?"
Leon Keane laughed: "Yes!"
Ivana wasn’t familiar with the Kane family’s development history. She didn’t know that the Kane Group originally started in retail and later moved into real estate, with Century Plaza and Mansa Plaza being projects developed by the Kane family. In those days, large shopping centers like Century Plaza and Mansa Plaza were rare, and they inevitably became the most high-end malls in Ravenswood.
Ivana took a moment to process this and then asked Leon Keane: "How did you know I was looking at stores here? Did you have someone following me?"
While talking with Q at Century Plaza, she found it odd when the mall manager suddenly wanted that spot. It turned out the CEO of Century Plaza was Leon Keane.
Then how did Leon Keane know of her whereabouts? Apart from following her, she couldn’t think of another explanation.
Ivana’s little face showed signs of anger.
Leon Keane immediately shook his head: "How could I have someone follow you?"
Ivana frowned: "Give me a reasonable explanation."
Leon Keane said: "I knew you needed a store for your own brand, so a while ago, I asked Derrick Stern to keep an eye out for stores. It so happened that when Derrick was looking, he ran into that pretty boy who just left. So, he mentioned it to the mall manager, and that’s the whole story."
Oscar is the pretty boy?
Ivana was utterly speechless.
Ivana looked at Leon Keane suspiciously; why did she feel like there was more he wasn’t telling her?
Leon Keane indeed hadn’t told Ivana everything; he only mentioned half. He didn’t tell her that the one being followed was Oscar.
He also knew all about her cooperation with Oscar, that pretty boy was an insatiable playboy, dating girls as if he were eating fruit, one after another.
This time, he dared to lay eyes on his woman?
Leon Keane, upon learning that Oscar and Ivana were meeting at Century Plaza, dropped everything to rush over.
That guy thought he could use a store to win Ivana’s favor? No chance, Leon Keane wouldn’t give him that opportunity.
Ivana had more questions, but at this moment, her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the unfamiliar number, Ivana swiped the answer button.
"Hello?"
"Ivana, you little bitch, who gave you the right to decide to donate all of the old man’s property? Come back right now and explain this in front of everyone. Is the old man’s donation a trick of yours? Did you actually embezzle all of his assets?"
Jean Shaw’s explosive voice came over the phone.
Jean Shaw had just learned of this news and was so furious that she was about to explode. She originally planned to confront the old man, but Butler Chaucer, that old dog, forcibly pushed her out.
