Chapter 68: Turmoil in the Bathroom

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Turmoil in the Bathroom

Sovereign Bay.

Leon Keane carried Ivana Monroe directly to the second floor, to his bedroom, not considering whether it was appropriate. He put her down and turned towards the bathroom, opening the bathtub faucet.

Moments passed.

Leon Keane emerged, his distinct fingers dripping with sparkling water. Perhaps due to the high temperature in the bathroom, his dark, tousled hair was mostly wet, disordered and sticking to his forehead.

"The water is ready, go take a bath."

A bath...?

What was he planning to do?

Ivana Monroe was startled.

She quickly shook her head: "No... no need... I’ll bathe at home."

Leon Keane saw Ivana Monroe looking as though she was afraid he’d devour her; he twitched the corner of his mouth, his gaze playful: "Are you scared I’ll eat you?"

Ivana Monroe was taken aback, twisting her fingers into the soft blanket, denying: "No."

Leon Keane scoffed: "I’m not that desperate. Hurry up and bathe; I don’t want Timmy to come home and smell the scent of alcohol on his mommy."

Ivana Monroe became embarrassed immediately, blushing profusely; he wasn’t interested in her like that, only concerned about Timmy.

Ivana Monroe bowed her head, quickened her steps into the bathroom. The large porcelain bathtub was filled eight-tenths with warm water. She locked the bathroom door, took off her little cocktail dress, and stepped into the tub.

The water temperature was moderate, and Ivana Monroe’s body relaxed immensely. The day’s fatigue began to fade.

Secretary Sullivan arrived at Sovereign Bay half an hour later.

She saw Leon Keane descending from the marble staircase on the second floor and suddenly widened her eyes, her heart racing.

Oh my God!

The President is too handsome—it’s ridiculous! He’s practically inviting women to commit a crime.

Secretary Sullivan swallowed hard, and only when Leon Keane approached her, she felt as though an arrow had pierced her heart; she was scared and began to reflect.

How could she blatantly stare at the President’s godlike appearance? If she annoyed him and got kicked out of Kane Group, she’d be finished.

Secretary Sullivan didn’t forget her task: "President Kane, here is the dress you requested. I took the liberty of buying an additional set of clothing."

Having read too many romance novels, Secretary Sullivan thought buying an extra set would be foolproof.

Leon Keane took the paper bag and was slightly startled; his handsome face felt a bit warm: "Mm, thank you for your hard work."

Secretary Sullivan was instantly overjoyed—had the President complimented her?

Oh my! Romance novels didn’t lie to her.

If Leon Keane knew Secretary Sullivan’s thoughts at this moment, she would likely not need to come to work the next day.

Secretary Sullivan didn’t leave immediately; she stretched her neck to look upstairs, only to see Leon Keane enter the bedroom without seeing tonight’s female protagonist. She felt a little disappointed.

Leon Keane placed the paper bag on the bed, walked over and knocked on the bathroom door, his voice hoarse: "Your new clothes are outside; come out and wear them after bathing. I’ll be in the study next door."

The woman in the bathroom didn’t respond.

Leon Keane reminded her again, and the woman in the bathroom faintly said, "Mm," which in the man’s ears caused ripples, as if a stone had been thrown into a lake.

Leon Keane couldn’t stay there another moment; he turned and left the bedroom, closing the door, heading next door.

Leon Keane opened the computer, intending to work, but upon opening the office software, found himself unable to concentrate, his mind filled with Ivana Monroe’s image.

The man’s mood became irritable. He lit a cigarette, stood by the window, and smoked.

After inhaling a couple of puffs, he thought that when Ivana Monroe came out later, she might feel uncomfortable smelling the smoke on him. He extinguished it, pressing the glowing orange on the ashtray.

About half an hour passed.

Ivana Monroe still hadn’t come out.

Leon Keane felt something was amiss; he quickly walked to the bedroom, and knocked on the door. Inside, Ivana didn’t respond nervously, so he directly opened the door.

The paper bag he brought in was still intact on the bed; Leon Keane frowned, ran to knock on the bathroom door.

"Ivana..."

After calling several times, the woman inside still didn’t respond; Leon Keane suddenly became anxious.

"Ivana, if you don’t respond, I’ll come in."

Still, there was no sound from the bathroom.

Leon Keane thought something was wrong; Ivana must have had an accident inside. He forcefully twisted the bathroom doorknob, finding it locked from inside.

Leon Keane decisively kicked open the bathroom door and found Ivana unconscious in the bathtub.

Disregarding gender propriety, Leon Keane carried Ivana out of the bathtub. The water had cooled; her body was as cold as the water temperature.

Leon Keane frowned deeply, suddenly fearing she was in trouble. He placed her on the bed, first checking her breath with his fingers, and noted weak respiration, letting him breathe a sigh of relief.

He pulled up the blanket, covering Ivana’s delicate body, and made a phone call for help: "Where are you? Come here now; I’ll give you ten minutes."

"What? Ten minutes? President, I’m currently in romantic Olaris on a date with a beauty; even if I could fly, I wouldn’t reach you in ten minutes!"

"President, don’t be mad. Can you tell me what happened? Maybe I can guide you remotely to keep the person alive first."

"What? Unconscious in the bathroom? That’s simple! Unconscious in the bathroom is definitely due to lack of oxygen. Provide her some oxygen; she’ll awaken."

After hanging up, Leon Keane cleared his mind, opening Ivana’s mouth and taking a deep breath.

Ivana was genuinely too exhausted, drifting into sleep unknowingly in the water. She felt something continually swaying in front of her face and faintly opened her eyes.
