Chapter 258: Chapter 258: Swearing on One’s Life
Susan Heston looked at Isaac Heston expectantly, regardless of whether Ivana Monroe had slept with Isaac or not. No man could tolerate a woman spreading such rumors, using it as a tactic.
Isaac’s personality? Susan knew it well.
Susan expected a contemptuous look from Isaac, expected him to be furious, ideally, to insult Ivana harshly, and maybe even slap Ivana in public. That would be a great scene.
Isaac paused for a moment, then turned his head, animatedly looking at Ivana: "Ivana, is that what you said to her?"
Susan felt that Isaac’s expression seemed a bit off, as if he was somewhat pleased. This was impossible; Isaac would never be interested in a woman abandoned by relatives who had also had a child.
She must be overthinking it.
Susan shook her head, grinned sinisterly, and instigated, "Yes, cousin, that’s exactly what she said."
Isaac suddenly said coldly, "I wasn’t asking you."
Susan was stunned, feeling deeply wronged, wanting to say: Cousin, why are you being so harsh?
Susan saw the vein throbbing on Isaac’s temple, she shrank her neck back, swallowing the words she almost blurted out.
Isaac glanced back at Ivana, seemingly waiting for her answer.
Ivana, seeing this, looked speechless: "Do you think it’s possible?"
Ivana couldn’t gauge Isaac’s attitude, but she believed Isaac wasn’t a fool. If Isaac were a fool, she wouldn’t be afraid; an honest person fears no crooked shadow.
If Isaac misunderstood her, she’d call Allen.
Allen was Isaac’s friend, not Susan’s relative; she believed Allen could give her justice.
If it required Allen to step in.
Ivana vowed she’d never want to see Isaac again.
Isaac shrugged, a look of disappointment swiftly flashing through his dark eyes: "I don’t think so either."
Sister Zhao and Director Arnold both sighed in relief.
Susan’s eyes nearly popped out; Isaac... how could he say such a thing?
Susan was unwilling: "Cousin, don’t be fooled by Ivana’s appearance..."
Isaac suddenly turned his head, looking at her with cold eyes, uttering two words: "Apologize."
Susan felt as if she were struck by lightning, doubting her ears were hearing things, what? Apologize? Isaac asked her to apologize? To apologize to Ivana?
Susan gradually clenched her fingers, her nails digging into the flesh of her palm, feeling a slight pain. She suppressed the raging anger in her heart, tears starting to well up in her eyes, quickly falling like rain, her voice trembling: "Cousin, I’m your cousin! You’d rather believe an outsider than your cousin?"
Susan made herself seem pitiful enough, reflecting Ivana’s scheming and malice.
Director Arnold almost wanted to applaud Susan’s acting.
If he hadn’t seen the whole situation himself, he might have believed Susan’s "excellent" acting and felt Ivana was a scheming and malicious woman.
"Oh dear... look, whose dear cousin is this? How pitiful," Allen’s mocking voice came through.
Everyone turned their heads and saw two men walking in, one being Allen, the other very handsome, wearing a white T-shirt with a guitar pattern, straight jeans, a golden metal chain hanging from his pocket to his belt. Even with such casual attire, it couldn’t hide his innate superstar charisma.
"Sean Vaughn." Director Arnold was very surprised.
Sean Vaughn had left two hours ago after finishing shooting the music video. His expression wasn’t very good when he left.
Director Arnold knew the reason; Susan was a forced addition as the MV’s female lead. Sean Vaughn was averse to such things and, combined with Susan’s poor acting skills, Sean and Susan’s scenes had to be repeatedly redone. Sean had long been impatient with Susan.
Focus on the important point.
Sean had left in a bad mood in the morning, so there was no way he’d come back.
Now... what on earth is happening?
Director Arnold looked again at Allen beside Sean Vaughn. Could it be because of that man?
Susan’s tear-blurred eyes saw Sean Vaughn and another man entering, her heart experiencing a special flutter, not hearing Allen’s mockery.
Susan thought Allen was sympathizing with her, so she put effort into her performance: "Cousin, I can swear, I definitely didn’t tell you one lie, sob sob sob..."
Susan really raised both her hands.
Talking about swearing, but she wasn’t really swearing, so it didn’t count.
Susan played her little tricks, feeling smug inside. Ivana, you can’t beat me, in a while, everyone will support me, Sister Zhao standing on your side is useless!
This is Sean Vaughn’s MV, no one will side with Sister Zhao; everyone will only believe her.
Ivana felt Susan was very childish. Apart from Isaac not being foolish enough to believe Susan, now that Allen was here, did Susan think Allen would believe her?
Allen glanced over.
Ivana nodded slightly to him, not rushing to greet him.
Since Susan swore, she’d let Susan fulfill her oath.
Ivana said to Susan, "Are you sure you want to swear? What are you swearing on? Your honor? Health? Or life?"
Sister Zhao and Director Arnold looked at Ivana with bright eyes, this move was ruthless, they appreciated it.
Sean Vaughn lazily lifted his gaze, glanced at Ivana, and his eyes suddenly lit up. This woman’s temperament was perfect for his MV’s female lead.
Sean originally didn’t plan to help Ivana because he was reluctant to get involved in women’s squabbles; they annoyed him.
He came, dragged by a call from Allen.
Sean changed his mind now; he said, "Oaths are generally made on one’s life, because to a person who lies, honor no longer matters, as for health, life is more severe. Susan, are you sure you want to swear on your life?"
Allen looked over at Sean, surprised—Sean was helping Ivana? Didn’t Sean say he wouldn’t participate in women’s fights? What was he doing now?
Sister Zhao and Director Arnold were thrilled to hear Sean’s words!
They regarded Sean as a righteous emissary.
Isaac frowned, a strange man suddenly helping a woman, there could be only one reason...
Susan was stunned, looking at Sean with pity, tears rolling in her eyes. What did Sean mean? She was his MV’s female lead!
How could Sean help Ivana and make her swear on her life?
Sean was so hateful.
Susan’s tears flowed continuously; she was genuinely sad this time. Her heart hurt; she liked Sean, why wasn’t the man she liked helping her but helping Ivana?
Sob sob sob...
Susan bit her lip; she absolutely couldn’t lose, or she’d become everyone’s joke. Isaac and Sean would regard her with disdain, maybe even disgust.
