Chapter 276: Chapter 276: She Told My Mom to Get Lost, But Never Called Her Grandma
Julia followed Aunt Kane’s finger and caught sight of Ivana. At first, she didn’t quite understand why Aunt Kane disliked Ivana so much, until she saw Ivana holding a little boy who looked exactly like Ian. Her pupils shrank sharply. Was this woman the mother of two children?
Julia felt thoroughly aggrieved, seething with jealousy. She had known Leon since high school. If it hadn’t been for Aunt Kane’s interference back then, the woman standing next to Leon now would have been her... Julia Sinclair.
What Julia was most jealous of was this woman’s face, untouched by makeup, with skin so dazzlingly good it was like a freshly graduated college student. You couldn’t tell at all that she was already the mother of two five- or six-year-old kids.
Having studied medicine, Julia was adept at skincare. She had just turned thirty, only to discover a serious issue: women at thirty have far less abundant skin collagen than those in their twenties. She had resorted to getting water light injections, yet her skin still wasn’t as radiant as Ivana’s naturally flawless complexion.
The difference between skin that had received such injections and skin that hadn’t wasn’t apparent to a layperson, but as an insider, Julia could tell at a glance.
Julia watched Ivana turn awkwardly, taking the little boy out of Aunt Kane’s line of sight.
Mocking laughter flickered in Julia’s eyes. So what if that woman was married to Leon and had kids? It was only because she hadn’t returned and wasn’t by Leon’s side.
Now that she was back, that woman ought to return Leon to her.
Besides, Aunt Kane really didn’t like that woman; otherwise, she wouldn’t have called her back.
Leon turned his head, seeing Ivana leaving with the child, and chased after them without a second thought: "Honey, wait..."
The term "Honey" infuriated Julia enough.
Julia told herself not to get angry. Leon hadn’t seen her yet. If he did, he’d surely ignore that woman.
Aunt Kane was also furious: "Leon... get back here."
Aunt Kane was truly upset, speaking with quite some spirit, unlike earlier when she seemed so weak.
Julia noticed Aunt Kane’s excitement, worried she would let something slip, and gently reminded her: "Aunt Kane, you just had heart bypass surgery, it’s not wise to get worked up; it’s bad for your health."
Aunt Kane realized her previous impropriety and immediately pretended to be weak again: "Oh dear! I’m truly angered by this unfilial son."
Ian hesitated, had he heard wrong just now? Grandma seemed full of vigor.
After all, Ian was just a child, not thinking too much or doubting his grandmother’s feigned illness. Hearing Julia’s words, he also nodded: "Grandma, you shouldn’t be angry!"
Seeing Ian being so sensible, Aunt Kane’s eyes turned red: "Still, my darling grandson cares for me the most. Ian, this is my surgeon, the one who saved Grandma—call her Aunt Julia."
Ian looked up and glanced at Julia, calling out indifferently: "Auntie."
Julia’s gentle smile froze, finding Ian impolite. She didn’t like this little boy but didn’t show it outwardly.
Aunt Kane added to Julia: "Julia, this is my darling grandson... Ian Keane. He’s a pitiful child; his mommy abandoned him at birth and died elsewhere."
Julia was highly surprised; Ian wasn’t that woman’s child? But the little boy Ivana was holding looked exactly like Ian! Including their age, weren’t they twins?
Things seemed a bit complicated!
No matter!
She would find it out eventually.
Ian’s eyes flashed with darkness, Aunt Kane’s words provoked him.
He struggled to control his burgeoning emotions, repeatedly telling himself that Grandma was now lying in the hospital bed and he couldn’t be disobedient anymore.
Noticing Ian’s anomaly, Aunt Kane suddenly became uneasy: "Ian, what’s wrong? Don’t scare Grandma."
Aunt Kane was afraid Ian’s illness would flare up again.
Aunt Kane became instantly flustered.
"I have a mommy; she will love me like she loves Timmy, and she will never abandon me." Ian thought of Ivana’s gentle face, hugging her, her warm embrace, and the darkness in his eyes gradually receded.
Aunt Kane’s lips quivered, not daring to continue speaking ill of Ivana, fearing to provoke Ian.
Julia observed Ian’s dark expression and the finger-pinching motion, slightly surprised. At such a young age, did he already have "emotional disorder"?
However, this might be related to Ian’s growing environment.
Julia’s lips curled into a peculiar smile; she had a way to make Ian dislike Ivana and like her instead.
Leon caught up with Ivana.
He grabbed Ivana’s hand, pulling her to a halt, apologizing deeply, "Honey, I’m sorry, I wasn’t considerate."
Ivana paused, shaking her head: "I don’t blame you."
Ivana continued, "I’m fine. Your mom just came out of surgery; you should go and take care of her first. I’ll take Timmy home."
Ivana’s magnanimity deepened Leon’s guilt; he didn’t want Ivana to suffer any harm.
Timmy suddenly spoke angrily: "She told my mom to get lost. I’ll never call her Grandma again and will never appear in front of her. Someone who just had surgery should be very weak, but she shouted so loudly just now, nothing like someone who just had surgery, more like she wanted to devour my mom."
Timmy was indignant.
Julia pushed Aunt Kane’s hospital bed, deliberately passing by Ivana.
Timmy’s voice wasn’t quiet; Aunt Kane heard everything.
Aunt Kane was trembling with anger: "I don’t have a grandson like you. Speaking to Grandma like that, do you have any manners? Your mom is an ill-mannered woman, raising an ill-mannered child like you."
After scolding Timmy, Aunt Kane saw Leon’s displeased face; she weakly cried again for sympathy: "What kind of misfortune have I carried? Just had heart bypass surgery, then bullied by this insolent mother and son, boohoohoo..."
People around, clueless about the situation, criticized Ivana and Timmy, accusing them of being disrespectful to the elderly, bullying right after surgery—certainly a shrew at home.
Some impulsive men even suggested Leon hit Ivana.
This kind of woman deserves a beating.
Leon shot a cold glare at the man suggesting hitting Ivana, scaring him into silence and retreating to the back.
Julia saw people blaming Ivana, her eyes filled with satirical laughter.
Aunt Kane had many tactics; if she disliked someone, she would definitely ruin them.
Back then, she too couldn’t withstand Aunt Kane’s torment, leaving Leon heartbrokenly. Otherwise, Aunt Kane would have tormented her brother to death.
Now, the tables had turned; Aunt Kane had set her sights on her again, and the one suffering was Leon’s current wife.
This was too interesting.
