Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Don’t Let Her Get Away

Auntie Chamberlain’s eyes darted around as she took out her phone, activated the camera, and filmed the two little boys running hand in hand. She shouted loudly, "Timmy Monroe, stop right there! You’re pulling young master Ian too fast. What if he falls? Do you hear me? Stop right there!"

Auntie Chamberlain’s cries certainly couldn’t halt the two little boys, desperate to save their mother.

Auntie Chamberlain flashed a sly smile and followed them while pretending to chase after them, sounding worried. "Oh no, oh no, I can’t stop Timmy. If young master Ian gets hurt, I’ll never forgive myself."

Auntie Chamberlain intentionally recorded the video intending to show it to Ian’s mother back in the ward, lest Ian return late or get hurt somewhere and she gets blamed again.

After all, it wasn’t her fault for not keeping up with Ian. It was Timmy Monroe who suddenly appeared and whisked Ian away.

If Ian’s mother were to place blame, it should be on Timmy Monroe.

Operating Room.

After Evan Reed entered, he saw Leo Griffin and hurriedly asked, "Dr. Griffin, where did you take the kid’s mommy? That child is almost going crazy looking for her. Please return his mommy to him!"

At this moment, Evan Reed was solely focused on bringing Ivana Monroe back to Timmy, seemingly forgetting a critical detail: Shelton Hale had called him here for a surgery.

Leo Griffin frowned; Evan Reed’s reaction was unexpected.

Leo Griffin calmly stated, "The child’s mommy is right here."

Evan Reed was taken aback, seeing Ivana Monroe lying on the cold operating table with her eyes closed.

Ivana’s appearance didn’t resemble a patient, giving Evan Reed the illusion she was a lamb prepared for slaughter.

Evan Reed was baffled: "How... how could she be here?"

Leo Griffin’s expression turned grim, coldly questioning Evan, "What do you think? What did Shelton Hale ask you to do?"

Evan Reed suddenly realized, filled with incredulity; Shelton Hale had asked him to assist in the surgery room, to help out.

But he hadn’t anticipated that the surgery’s subject would be Ivana Monroe.

"No... impossible... how could it be her?"

Evan Reed instinctively shook his head.

"She didn’t consent to the surgery."

Leo Griffin, slightly impatient, replied: "How do you know she didn’t consent?"

Leo Griffin took out the "surgery consent form" and extended it for Evan to see.

"During the examination, she asked me to proceed with the surgery as soon as possible. This is her signed surgery consent form."

"Due to time constraints, she couldn’t explain too much to the child outside. Besides, what would a few years old kid understand? Instead of letting him worry, it’s better to make him think his mommy is undergoing an examination, waiting peacefully while we complete the surgery for Ivana. This minor surgery won’t take much time."

Evan took the "surgery consent form" and noted the fingerprint instead of a signature.

"She didn’t sign it."

Evan said with doubt, sensing something amiss about the "surgery consent form," but...

"Reed, you talk too much. Are you suggesting the fingerprint isn’t hers but mine? Do you want to compare my finger to hers for confirmation?"

Leo Griffin spread his fingers with no red ink.

Evan did check Ivana’s thumb and saw red ink, confirming Leo Griffin’s claim, although he felt something was still off.

But what exactly wasn’t right, Evan couldn’t pinpoint.

Leo Griffin rolled his eyes at Evan.

"I’ve never seen someone distrustful of a fellow doctor like you. Stop wasting time. Let’s start the surgery now! Otherwise, her son will get anxious waiting, and we can return Ivana to him sooner, preventing his continuous cries outside."

Evan thought Leo Griffin made a valid point. When returning the "surgery consent form" to Leo, Leo didn’t take it.

"Why are you giving it to me? Can’t you put the surgery consent form in the work cabinet yourself?"

Leo Griffin had donned transparent medical gloves and picked up the scalpel after speaking.

Evan’s gaze held on Leo’s hands for a few moments. Dr. Griffin seemed to have shown him the "surgery consent form" while wearing medical gloves. Why hadn’t Dr. Griffin changed them? The "surgery consent form," with black ink on white paper, could be germ-laden.

Or did Evan see it wrong?

"Dr. Griffin, aren’t you changing your gloves?"

Evan raised the "surgery consent form," implying Leo had just held it.

Leo Griffin found Evan’s inquiries tiresome.

"I forgot."

Leo Griffin removed the medical gloves and turned to replace them with a new pair.

Returning to the operating table, he picked up the cold scalpel, aiming at Ivana’s injured ankle, seizing the moment while Evan was placing the "surgery consent form," to make the incision.

Leo Griffin took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with coldness: Ivana, if you end up limping, don’t blame me. You shouldn’t have pushed Julia Sinclair down the stairs, angering Shelton Hale.

If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for courting trouble.

Leo Griffin’s scalpel stabbed into Ivana’s wound.

Instantly, the person on the operating table opened her eyes.

The excruciating pain made Ivana’s face pale. She bit her lips, suppressing her cries of pain, as a furious layer of cold sweat emerged, drenching her back.

Leo Griffin was so absorbed in "performing surgery" that he hadn’t noticed Ivana had awakened.

The scalpel cut the incision open, and blood instantly gushed from the white ankle. Beads of cold sweat appeared on his forehead, and his fingers holding the scalpel slightly trembled. It was his first time doing something wrong, harming someone.

Leo Griffin’s mental fortitude wasn’t as robust as imagined.

"Reed, come assist, use the equipment to suction the blood."

When Evan turned after placing the "surgery consent form," he saw Ivana awaken, reaching for the surgical scissors on the instrument beside her operating table.

Evan was stunned: "You..."

Before he could finish, Ivana shot a sharp, pain-laden glare at him, startling Evan.

Ivana grabbed the surgical scissors firmly, aiming them at Leo Griffin’s arm holding the scalpel, stabbing fiercely.

"Ah~"

The sudden agony made Leo Griffin cry out miserably, dropping the scalpel. He clutched the arm stabbed by the scissors, turning to see the awakened Ivana.

Leo Griffin was utterly shocked. How could this be? How could she wake so soon?

A sedative injection could knock someone out for two to three hours.

He had administered half the dose to Ivana, which should last over an hour; it hadn’t even been half an hour. How was Ivana awake?

Leo Griffin couldn’t comprehend it at all.

Seeing Ivana struggle to sit up on the operating table, Leo swiftly turned, shouting at the stunned Evan, "What are you standing there for? Help restrain her, don’t let her escape."
