Chapter 71: Ruan Chanchan : Listen To Me At Least!
Ruan Zeqiu snorted beside him; even though Sun Cao had not said a word, he knew what was going on in the head of the foolish mer. Upon seeing the greenish-white liquid, he raised his head and questioned, "Chanchan, what is this?"
"It’s a kind of medicine that will help your daughter pull," Ruan Chanchan replied. She looked at the little girl who was writhing in pain on the ground and explained, "Worms are growing inside of her intestines—I mean body." She corrected it. As soon as she finished speaking, Sun Cao’s face turned pale.
"Worms? Are there worms in the body of my daughter?" Sun Cao was stupefied. He turned and looked at his daughter, and all of a sudden burst into tears. Sun Cao had heard about a few children dying due to growing worms in their stomachs; it was found out after their corpses in the burial mound of the tribe decomposed, and a bunch of long and ugly-looking worms, different from the maggots, crawled out of their bellies.
The people of the tribe said that it happened because the parents of the children angered the beast goddess. Did he do something to make the beast goddess upset with him? If that was the case then she should punish him instead of his daughter. What had the little girl even done?
Though they didn’t understand much, Sun Cao and the others knew that those worms were the cause of the deaths of the children. Now that his daughter was unfortunate enough to catch such a disease. What was he going to do?
When Ruan Chanchan saw the mer burst into tears, she was startled, as she didn’t expect the little mer to suddenly start crying. She widened her eyes and questioned, "What happened? Why are you crying all of a sudden?"
"Chanchan, you just told me that my daughter’s stomach is infested with worms. So how can I not cry? With such a terrible thing happening to my daughter, I just know that she is going to die! No wonder Priestess Yuan told me to prepare for her funeral."

She did say it quite clearly, did she not?
"You did, darling. It’s their fault; they were not listening to you at all." Xiao Xi had been paying attention to the two mers and knew that they were not listening to a word that Ruan Chanchan had said to them because they were lost in their own thoughts. This certainly couldn’t be blamed on his dear host.
