Bai Shi slashed at the door with both swords, but the blood coating it suddenly shot toward his eyes.
Using a whirlwind to deflect the blood, Bai Shi brought both swords down on the door as he intended.
With a series of cracks, the door was mostly destroyed. One more strike and he would be able to break out.
But Mohg's bloodflame was already splashing toward him, and Bai Shi had no choice but to dodge.
Getting wounded without armor would be a disaster.
Unfortunately, that single dodge cost Bai Shi his chance to escape the room.
Bai Shi watched as blood completely sealed the door and walls, knowing Mohg wouldn't let him leave so easily.
"That was close. You almost got away."
Though Mohg spoke as if it were a close call, he was in no hurry, a taunting look in his eyes.
Bai Shi turned to face Mohg.He had no idea why Mohg had targeted him. After all, he had only killed one of his Bloody Nobles.
"Oh, what a fine look in your eyes. On any other day, I might have considered letting you join me to witness the rise of my dynasty."
"I noticed two other fellows in the same way, after they killed a Bloody Finger. That's how I recruited them."
"Unfortunately, there are far too many things about you that I dislike. Today, you will simply die here, nameless and forgotten, for my amusement."
Bai Shi had no time for Mohg's words. He was rapidly trying to figure a way out of this predicament.
Mohg's abilities far exceeded what was shown in the game, from his sudden appearance in the room to the blood that now coated it entirely.
These were powers he had never seen before, and this sense of the unknown was deeply unsettling.
Seeing Bai Shi remain still, Mohg slowly walked toward him, then thrust his sacred spear viciously at his position.
Bai Shi blocked Mohg's sacred spear with his two swords. The force of the blow sent him sliding backward across the wet, bloody floor.
The terrain was incredibly disadvantageous for Bai Shi. Luckily, the blood emitted a strange red glow, so he wasn't left in complete darkness.
Behind Bai Shi, the blood covering the walls shot out once more, this time aiming for his back.
A storm rose on its own, deflecting the blood with minimal mana consumption.
The Old King's voice rang in Bai Shi's mind, telling him to fight cautiously; it would handle these small tricks.
Bai Shi parried Mohg's sacred spear and charged forward.
From that brief exchange, Bai Shi had gotten a rough sense of this clone's physical strength.
It was much stronger than him, but not completely unbeatable.
If he were in full armor, he probably would have a chance to take it down on his own after a grueling battle, even without Fengling Yueying.
Of course, that was an assessment based on physical strength alone.
But right now, Bai Shi was unarmored, and Mohg was more than just a physical combatant.
Seeing Bai Shi charge, Mohg waved his left hand. Blood streamed from his fingertips, forming several curved claw marks in the air.
The claw marks burned in the air before exploding a moment later.
Bai Shi summoned a storm, broke through the flames, and slashed at Mohg with both swords crossed.
But the blood on the floor surged upward, forming a crimson wall between Bai Shi and Mohg.
Bai Shi's momentum didn't falter; he slashed onward.
The blood wall was thin and burst instantly, but Mohg was already gone from behind it.
A sense of dread washed over Bai Shi. He adjusted his stance, ready to face an attack from any direction.
A pair of bloody claws reached out from the floor, grabbing for Bai Shi's feet.
Bai Shi leaped into the air to evade the grasp.
But from the wall behind him, the sacred spear emerged, stabbing toward him.
Bai Shi used a gust of storm in mid-air to not only dodge Mohg's thrust but also to strike the spear with his swords, sending ripples through the blood.
‘Even his weapon is made of blood?’
But a safe landing wasn't going to be simple. On the ground where he was about to land, clusters of blood shot up, turning into sharp spikes. Bai Shi was forced to use his mana to summon another storm to destroy them.
Bai Shi felt his scalp tingle. Mohg's abilities were monstrous, and the terrain was completely one-sided.
Just from what he'd shown so far, Mohg's field of blood could be used to seal, attack, defend, and move freely within the area.
It was far more ferocious than Erlisa's ice, on a completely different level.
"Can I ask, why did you come to kill me?"
Hearing Bai Shi's question, the blood in the room ceased its attack.
Mohg emerged from the blood in front of Bai Shi, still wearing that same mocking, unhurried expression.
"Heh, no reason. I just felt like it, so I did it. How about that?"
"Aren't you afraid of exposing yourself, of being unable to hide in the shadows like before?"
"Crushing you is like crushing a bug. Others will only see your corpse. They won't discover a thing."
Mohg didn't think this Tarnished had any chance of escaping him, much less that he himself would be exposed.
But he wasn't going to waste any more words on Bai Shi. The game of cat and mouse was over. It was time to finish him.
With that, all the blood in the room began to writhe, lashing out at Bai Shi.
Mohg himself brandished his sacred spear and charged forward.
Bai Shi took a deep breath, squeezing out every last drop of mana in his body, and had the Old King unleash the most powerful storm yet.
A torrential storm erupted in the small room. The blood shooting at Bai Shi was scattered, and the powerful winds even began to peel the blood off the walls, drop by drop.
Seeing this, Mohg stopped his attack and, with a cold smirk, snapped his fingers.
The blood throughout the room ignited violently, and the temperature instantly rose to an unimaginable high.
The howling storm was set ablaze by the blood it carried. Before long, Bai Shi, trapped within, would be burned alive.
As his mana gradually depleted, the storm weakened, no longer able to fully protect him.
As long as this bloodflame touched an enemy's blood, supported by Mohg's power, it would ignite them from the inside out.
Starting from the blood, it would burn a person to cinders.
And Mohg could already feel the bloodflame burning that Tarnished's blood.
Mohg turned his gaze away from Bai Shi. In his eyes, Bai Shi would be dead in a matter of seconds.
He looked toward the door. The bloodflame there was gradually dying down, its flow becoming sluggish as specks of frost appeared.
It seemed the Tarnished's reinforcements were about to arrive. How perceptive. A pity they were too late.
Mohg turned back, intending to watch Bai Shi's pathetic death one last time.
But what met him was a pair of greatswords.
Mohg instantly tried to sink into the blood to dodge, but the two greatswords struck him in the face before he could teleport away.
Several of the hard, black horns on his head were severed, and blood gushed out.
Mohg reappeared on the other side. Looking at Bai Shi, the composure and mockery were gone, replaced by shock and disbelief.
"Why... are you still alive...?"
Bai Shi was completely engulfed in bloodflame. Only one of his eyes remained untouched by the fire.
But he just stood there as if nothing was wrong, and he even had the strength to land two blows on him.
Moreover, the bloodflame on Bai Shi's body was slowly receding, revealing unblemished skin underneath.
"Why? Because you can't burn me faster than I can grow back."
Bai Shi pointed a sword at Mohg:
"Come on. Now it's my turn."
