Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Sending You a Little Toy_1
"What?!"
"Our flagship store is on fire?"
"Who set the fire?"
Daniel was so shocked by his assistant’s words over the phone that he almost jumped to his feet. Caranda’s flagship store had the highest level of fire protection; how could it possibly catch fire?
The assistant said, "Mr. President, you misheard. It’s not *on fire*, it’s *gone viral*! It’s blowing up on social media!"
The assistant quickly filled him in on the details, then added, "If you don’t believe me, sir, you can pull up the flagship store’s surveillance footage and watch the replay yourself."
"Alright!" Daniel immediately took out his cellphone, remotely connected to the flagship store’s surveillance system, and carefully watched everything that had happened that evening. Soon after, he received several social media posts forwarded by his assistant.
Good news! This is incredible news! Caranda has actually blown up overnight!
Daniel’s hands trembled with excitement, and he could barely hold his phone.
What Mr. Su did at the flagship store tonight was brilliant! How did he even think of a way to create buzz for Caranda like this? Were those people he hired also actors? Daniel murmured to himself in awe.
The whole thing was so incredible that he refused to believe it was a coincidence. He was convinced it was a deliberate operation orchestrated by Su Xuan to help Caranda break into the Huaxia market.
But regardless of whether that was true, Su Xuan had clearly succeeded. With a single snip, he had cut an opening into the Huaxia market.
Now, it was up to him, the President for the Huaxia Region, to seize this opportunity and rip that opening wide.
Daniel immediately issued an order to his assistant, instructing her to mobilize marketing funds overnight and stoke the flames on social media and across the internet.
Let this blaze burn even fiercer! Caranda will have a meteoric rise!
Besides, with Su Xuan setting such a brilliant precedent, if he, as the President for the Huaxia Region, still couldn’t succeed, then he didn’t deserve his position. He also had to thank Su Xuan again. That pen simply wasn’t enough to express his sincerity.
Then, he made a phone call to Brooke, Caranda’s head designer.
Daniel said, "Brooke, I need you to tailor an outfit for a Mr. Su."
Brooke replied, "For Mr. Daniel to personally call about a custom outfit, this Mr. Su must be quite remarkable. What does he do for a living?"
Daniel said, "Well, his profession is... a courier."
Brooke exclaimed, "What? A courier? Are you joking with me, Mr. Daniel? I am Caranda’s head designer! I win international fashion design awards every year, and a host of international tycoons and celebrities are waiting for me to design their clothes. I have my dignity. You want me to tailor clothes for a courier? I refuse!"
Daniel said, "Mr. Su is our second-largest shareholder. Haven’t you heard?"
Brooke’s tone instantly changed. "Ah! So the Mr. Su you’re referring to is our shareholder, Mr. Su! He’s incredible! The company’s stock price soared the moment he became a shareholder. I, Brooke, would be delighted to be of service to Mr. Su!"
Daniel was speechless.
Brooke, oh Brooke! You change your tune so fast! What happened to that so-called dignity of yours?
Brooke asked, "What kind of outfit does Mr. Su want tailored?"
Daniel replied, "He didn’t make any requests; this was my idea. Hmm... it’s hot out now. If he’s delivering packages in a regular courier uniform, it must be uncomfortable. How about you design a special courier uniform for him?"
Brooke said, "Wow, what a creative idea! I’ve never tackled a design challenge like this before. I’m already fired up! Leave it to me!"
Daniel said, "I’ll provide you with Mr. Su’s measurements as soon as possible."
After hanging up, Daniel thought for a moment before sending a message to Su Xuan to ask for his address. He explained that he wanted to send someone over in the morning to take his measurements for a custom-tailored outfit.
It took a while before Su Xuan replied with an address: No. 88 Guanhai Street.
"Oh my God!" Daniel couldn’t help but clutch his head in admiration.
Guanhai Street was a place where everyone in high society dreamed of living, yet very few ever achieved that dream.
For Mr. Su to live there... he’s truly no ordinary man!
「The next morning.」
Su Xuan let out a long sigh as he stretched lazily in bed. He had practiced Tai Chi with the butler for two hours the previous night, and his muscles and bones were a little sore.
"Hm?"
Suddenly, he blinked in surprise.
At his bedside, a neatly folded set of clothes was lying there—the very same set that had been drenched in the downpour last night. He instinctively assumed his senior sister, Wang Xuehan, had washed, dried, and placed them there. But on second thought, that seemed unlikely. Wang Xuehan had gone to bed very early.
Moreover, on top of the clothes was another item, with a note tucked underneath it:
> Su Xuan,
> Thank you for shopping with me last night and for playing in the rain. As a token of my gratitude, here’s a little toy. Now you can stop fussing over the money for your clothes.
>
> Signed, Alice.
A smiley face was drawn on the paper.
Trying to trade a little toy for all my expensive clothes? Alice, you really know how to drive a bargain!
Su Xuan picked up the item and put it on his wrist, examining it closely. It was, indeed, a mechanical watch. The dial was very intricate; it even had features like a perpetual calendar and a split-seconds chronograph.
CLICK!
Having no real knowledge of watches, Su Xuan took a photo with his phone and did an image search to check the price.
Then, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Vacheron Constantin, model 57260. Price: 56,000,000!
It was a highly complex mechanical pocket watch with an astounding 57 complications, comprised of 2,800 parts, with its buttons ingeniously integrated into the white gold case. The watch was crafted by a top artisan using traditional methods, including techniques like chamfering, circular graining, and Côtes de Genève! This watch was one of Vacheron Constantin’s most complex and magnificent masterpieces ever created.
"Hehe! Hehe!"
Su Xuan scratched his head, grinning foolishly.
That Alice is really something else, giving him a watch worth 56 million! That’s way more than what her clothes cost. How embarrassing! It looks like I’ll have to hang out with her more often in the future!
(Alice: Aww, don’t be like that! I’ve got even better toys than that watch!)
Next, Su Xuan got dressed and went to wash up.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!
A sudden knock came at the door.
"Master, someone is here for you. She says she’s the assistant to the President of Caranda’s Huaxia Region and has an appointment with you," the butler’s voice sounded from outside.
"Oh, let her in," Su Xuan said. He vaguely recalled Daniel mentioning something about this last night—that he would send someone over to take his measurements for a custom-made outfit. With that, he opened the door.
"Mr. Su, hello."
Daniel’s assistant walked into Su Xuan’s room, looking as timid as a child who had never seen the world. But she wasn’t truly sheltered. As Daniel’s assistant, she had seen her fair share of grand occasions.
It was simply that Su Xuan’s mansion had left her utterly stunned.
From the moment she stepped through the gates, the courtyard overwhelmed her senses and shook her to her core, forcing her to tread carefully. She finally understood the feeling of Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden.
It was as if she had stepped into another dimension.
「Meanwhile.」
Su Zimo was sitting in an interview van, heading toward a mountainous area in the west.
The cameraman asked, "Zi Mo, shouldn’t you call Su Xuan and ask if he’s going?"
Su Zimo shook her head with certainty.
"No need. He’ll definitely be there."
