Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Beyond My Grasp
After tidying up the belongings left by Gu Lei, Agular returned to the Nelson Wizard Tower.
"Knock knock knock—"
Upon entering the Wizard Tower, he immediately went to the door of Lor’s laboratory and gently knocked.
Inside the laboratory, Lor, still immersed in the simulation of the Elemental Molecule Intersection, was slightly startled.
He remembered giving Kateya and Levan the day off today, and all the other wizards knew he disliked being disturbed. Why would someone come uninvited?
"I might as well check it out." Lor shook his head, stopped the simulation, and walked out of the inner laboratory to open the door.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw Agular outside with a gentle smile, wearing a Third Ring Wizard Robe.
"Mentor, you’ve reached the Third Ring?" Lor feigned a surprised expression and congratulated with a smile, "Congratulations on achieving your heart’s desire."
Actually, this was within his expectations, though slightly earlier by about half a year.
However, considering Agular’s eagerness to break through the bottleneck, it was understandable.
"Yes." Agular nodded warmly, "Let’s go inside first, I have something to tell you."
"Alright, Mentor." Lor immediately led Agular into the inner laboratory, curious about what he might say.
"I killed Gu Lei." As soon as they entered the inner laboratory, Agular spoke words of stunning impact.
"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Lor felt his mind go blank.
He killed Gu Lei?
Isn’t the mentor just breaking through?
How did he kill Gu Lei?
"I became a Third Ring today, and after becoming one, I utilized the ten-year assignment... in the end, he died under that forest." Agular flatly recounted what he had just done.
"I..." Lor opened his mouth, wanting to say something but found himself unable to articulate anything.
He was readying the Small Meteor Witchcraft to the last step, and now the target was gone?
It’s really...
But truth be told, beyond speechlessness, he felt moved.
He offered a direction for a breakthrough without expecting anything from Agular in return.
Yet, the mentor just broke through to the Third Ring, and the first thing he did was kill his enemy, showing he truly cares about him.
Receiving a return when not expecting it stirred a long-lost warmth within him.
After a moment of silence, Lor looked at Agular, who always had a gentle smile, and softly said, "Thank you, Mentor."
"I’m not like Speaker Yasen, who can silently shield you from all dirty things." Agular said slowly, "But I can still handle some small matters."
"Now Gu Lei’s laboratory is vacant; if you’re interested, you can move up there, and no one will say anything."
"And the Earth and Fire Faction’s apprentice quota, the Tower Master will take 90%, and we will keep 10%."
"Of that 10%, 20% is allocated to the First Ring Wizards below; the remaining 80% you can use first. Since I just broke through to the Third Ring, I’m not in a rush to start new experimental topics."
Actually, not being in a rush to start new experimental topics is a lie; wizards who have just broken through often need the apprentice quota the most.
This is when inspiration is at its peak, the best time to find the future path, but Agular knows Lor is in a difficult situation now.
Previously, he was trying to break through and couldn’t spare the quota.
And now that he has broken through, he is not in as much of a rush, so he might as well give the resources to Lor; anyway, he has plenty of time in the future.
"No need, Mentor." Lor shook his head, smiling, "I won’t be long before I leave Murphy Continent for Betula Continent; with your breakthrough to the Third Ring, you should also..."
He was pondering what reason to persuade Agular to leave Murphy Continent too, but was interrupted halfway through.
"You’re leaving Murphy Continent? Decided already?" Agular frowned, not asking for the reason, only if Lor was sure.
"Yes." Lor nodded, "I’ve decided; I find the volcanoes there interesting and want to find some inspiration."
He used the same rationale he conjured for Nelson, a reasonable excuse, just perfect.
"Then take me with you; otherwise, it might be dangerous." Agular didn’t persuade, instead first considering the danger of crossing the sea.
Lor, as a First Ring Wizard, even with a Third-order Spaceship, has great limitations.
For instance, what to do when the Magic Crystals run out?
Activating a Third-order Magic Array consumes a lot of Magic Crystals, and both he and Lor are poor.
Unable to provide resources, yet worrying about his student, he had no choice but to personally come along.
"Thank you, Mentor." Lor’s expression became peculiar.
Goodness, he hadn’t started persuading yet, but this mentor was worried about his safety and wanted to come along.
This indeed...
Lor didn’t know how to describe his current feelings.
"Yes, let me know when you’re leaving; I’ll head back now." Agular nodded, turned, and left Lor’s laboratory.
He wanted to go to the other continent, needing to arrange many things.
Lor said he’d be leaving soon, so naturally, he had to hurry to set things in order.
"This really is..." Lor watched Agular leave, rubbing his temples, feeling a bit muddled.
Agular did many things today, all outside his expectations.
Bringing a trace of warmth to his originally cold heart.
"This feeling isn’t so bad." Lor unknowingly wore a smile at the corner of his mouth, his thoughts drifting.
When he first arrived in the Wizard World, he was alone, his only support was order.
Then, order was an umbrella, protecting him within.
Before the Divine Kingdom match started, he felt order was a shackle, a cage.
Despite having a charge point to become a First Ring Wizard immediately, he dared not allocate points.
But it also provided protection, preventing him from being wiped out without cause.
Now, he perceives order as a sword.
Agular utilized order as a sword to expel and kill Gu Lei outside the Wizard Tower.
As a beneficiary of this action, he touched the sword’s hilt.
If not for the Faith Wizards’ chaos and the Abyss invasion, he would rely on Yasen’s favor and Agular’s care to fare well, smoothly.
Unfortunately, there’s no if.
He couldn’t stop or dare get involved in the madness of the Faith Wizards.
Their madness would cost Murphy Continent’s shattering, Abyss Lord’s invasion.
By then, Yasen would be severely injured, and the twelve... no, eleven continents would be divided.
"Order..." Lor raised his palm, fingers closing as if trying to grasp something, but ultimately let go.
Because he knew he was still very weak, unable to grasp anything.
"Order’s final Chapter nears its end, the drumbeat of chaos is about to begin."
Lor murmured to himself, "I must truly rise in the chaos and find the key to unlocking the grand era interwoven with chaos and order."
He no longer wanted to feel the powerlessness of failing to grasp order and beauty.
