Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Systemic Differences, Rune Formation
Time flies like a shuttle, and a month passed in the blink of an eye.
Lor woke up from meditation and checked the progress of piecing together the Abyssal Energy Rune in his conjecture.
"I originally thought it would take half a year to complete, but it only took a month to get to this point?!" Lor looked at the Abyssal Energy Rune, already 99% complete, with some surprise in his heart.
Of course, this is definitely a good thing.
Lor curiously scrolled down, wanting to see from the comments what had transpired over the past few months.
[I used this incomplete basic rune to combine into a Minor Witchcraft with a constant output energy of only 1.5 rings and found it could also have an additional effect on Tier 3 demons.]
[I have a premonition that this basic energy rune definitely touches the essence of the cultivation system of Abyss creatures.]
[Confirmed, using this rune as a base to make an energy beam type magic artifact can slow down the operation of Abyssal energy in Abyssal Demons. If it were complete, the effect might be even better.]
[If nothing unexpected happens, the turning point in the war is about to appear.]
[The Meteor Mage is truly remarkable; in just one year of research, they put forward such a great conjecture.]
[Indeed, incredible...]
...
In just one month, all the doubts under this conjecture turned into exclamations and praise.
The main reason is that a wizard used the incomplete rune to create a 1.5-ring magic artifact, yet it could have some effect on a Tier 3 Abyssal Demon.
This is an extremely incredible thing; 1.5-ring witchcraft in the Abyssal System has not even reached the second-tier level and still counts as first-tier.
The gap between a first-tier life and a third-tier life is a world apart, as the saying goes.
Attempting to influence a third-tier life with a first-tier level attack, even if the third-tier life does not use any defense, is impossible, including those Elemental Mages who don’t care much about physical strength.
Each time they advance, the baptism of the body by Elemental Power alone can make the physique of the Elemental Mage frighteningly strong.
Yet now, with a small basic rune’s assistance, a first-tier attack can influence a third-tier life, which illustrates how strongly this rune restrains Abyssal life.
"Lifeforms that rely on instincts to strengthen themselves, as long as they haven’t reached the fourth tier, once a weakness is found, they are finished."
Lor looked at these comments, feeling some emotion in his heart, "Being inherently strong is both a good thing and a bad thing."
"Even when reaching the fourth tier, compared to life that evolves step by step according to the cultivation system, the disadvantage is still significant."
Creatures like Abyssal Demons do not have a cultivation system.
They generally start absorbing Abyssal energy from birth and gradually grow stronger step by step.
When they can no longer grow stronger, they will seek to fight others of the same tier to find a slim chance of breakthrough in life and death, completing a metamorphosis of life.
Their paths and limits are set in stone from birth, with no room for change, and are extremely easy to target.
But the Wizard System that rises from common mortals is completely different.
First, one must have Meditation Talent, then discover various laws among all things and summarize them into various basic runes.
Then these runes are constructed into a Meditation Rune that can attract Elemental Energy, becoming a Wizard Apprentice.
After that, slowly use this Meditation Rune as the core to enhance Spiritual Power and build various Witchcraft Models.
When the Spiritual Power reaches its limit, then link other Witchcraft Models to progress.
There are various choices to make, able to carve out different paths, and even to open a new path entirely.
And as understanding changes, the entire civilization becomes stronger and stronger.
Other civilizations wanting to target it face enormous difficulty.
"The Wizard System is not without flaws." Lor mused, "Catching a narrow chance of breakthrough in life and death and breaking through on the spot to defeat the enemy is a joke to a wizard."
Just achieving resonance between Witchcraft Rune Models and Meditation Rune Models takes several days.
If a breakthrough is not achieved, it just isn’t, with no way around it.
Lor shook his head slightly, gathered his thoughts, and turned his attention to the Abyssal Energy Rune nearing completion.
In the mere span of a moment, some wizards had made slight improvements to the Abyssal Energy Rune.
At this pace, in another hour or two, it is estimated the Abyssal Rune Model will be fully formed.
"The formation of the Abyssal Rune does not merely signify a turning point in the Abyssal Wars."
Lor’s eyes flashed with a hint of longing, "The title of the creator of the Abyssal Wizard might be mine in the future?"
Unlike Faith Wizards, the Abyssal Wizard is a system with tremendous potential to be mined.
However, the emergence of this system might take some time, because Faith Wizards have caused fear in the Wizard Alliance.
...
An hour and a half later.
Beitun Wizard Tower, 89th floor.
"You two, the rune has been completed." Alicia, with a pretty face and golden hair, looked up excitedly at her two colleagues still busy.
Knowing the purpose of the rune named ’Abyssal Energy Rune’ by the Meteor Mage, she was very much looking forward to its effects once fully formed.
At the same time, she felt some regret, knowing in hindsight she should have supported Bernard’s suggestion to price it at twenty million contribution points initially.
Although it might have been met with more skepticism at the time, it now would earn better renown.
"It’s completed already?"
The Elder Wizard Bernard’s eyes brightened, immediately pulling out three green spherical objects of varying sizes from five centimeters to two decimeters in diameter from the Space Ring, handing two to his colleagues:
"Each take one. Let’s quickly integrate the Abyssal Energy Rune and start the experiment."
"Okay."
"Alright."
Alicia and Hayes took the green spheres, memorized all the details of the Abyssal Energy Rune, and constructed the runes in their Sea of Consciousness, moving them into the green spheres.
As they filled the runes, a tinge of dark red appeared in the green spheres.
About twenty minutes later, the three finished engraving the runes, turning the green spheres into red and green bicolor spheres.
They then proceeded together to the ground floor to move a Tier 3 Horned Demon to the dissection room for the experiment.
"Let me go first. Does anyone have a Memory Ball? Remember to record the image." Hayes greeted, holding the five-centimeter red and green bicolor sphere, and flew above the Horned Demon’s head.
"I have." Alicia took out a blue ball and tossed it into the air. "Begin."
Hayes used Spiritual Power to activate the stone platform covered in runes, removing all the rune chains from the Horned Demon.
"Roar—"
The Horned Demon immediately let out an ear-splitting roar, with its spiked horns gathering intense Abyssal energy waves.
"Whoosh—"
Hayes immediately injected some Spiritual Power into the red and green bicolor sphere in his hand, and a red and green bicolor beam shot out from the sphere, instantly hitting the Horned Demon’s long horn.
