Chapter 561 Sister Tian

The female doctor saw that Jia Yao had closed the door, so she reached out, picked up the dark blue wool material on the desk, felt it with her hand, and then put it into the drawer of her desk.

Then she opened her mouth and said, "Director Huang's mother suffered too much when she was young. Now she is almost at the end of her life and needs good things to nourish her year-round. In this day and age, there isn't enough food at home, so where can she get good things to supplement her mother's health! So, there's nothing she can do but watch her slowly fade away. It's truly a sin!"

Chen Lan said without thinking, "Sister, to be honest, I do have a way to get fine rice, enriched flour, meat, and eggs. I also have a hundred-year-old ginseng here. I'd trouble you to introduce me. As long as Director Huang can do his best to cure my nephew's leg, there will naturally be benefits for him and for you!"

At this moment, Wei Dang suddenly spoke up, "Auntie, forget it! Don't spend any more money! It's all the same if other doctors treat him."

Chen Lan put on a stern face and said, "You child, what's this about spending money? Money is earned to be spent. Do you know how important a person's leg is? You definitely need to find a more reliable doctor to perform surgery!"

Jia Yao and Jia Xing also chimed in, "That's right, Brother Wei Dang, don't worry! Mother really has a way. This small matter is nothing to Mother."

Seeing that Chen Lan agreed so readily and hearing what Jia Yao and Jia Xing said, and observing Chen Lan's demeanor and the way Jia Yao and his brothers were dressed, the female doctor knew they were not from an ordinary family, and she felt a desire to get to know them better.

However, she couldn't help but ask with some doubt, "Sister, aren't you afraid I'm tricking you? You dare to agree so easily!"

Chen Lan smiled with absolute confidence and said, "I'm not afraid, because those who dare to trick me are living miserably now."

The female doctor was taken aback by Chen Lan's words. After a long pause, she said, "Sister, I'll arrange a hospital bed for your nephew first. I'll take you to Director Huang's home later, and we can discuss the specific conditions then, okay?"

Chen Lan smiled and thanked her, "Then I'll trouble you, sister! Does your hospital have single rooms? I guess it's hot now and not many people are hospitalized, right? I can pay extra for a single room, or even rent a whole ward, is that possible?"

The female doctor quickly waved her hand, "Sister, you don't need to pay extra. As you said, it's hot now, and there aren't many patients. Many rooms are empty. I'll just inform them! Oh, by the way, my surname is Tian. I should be a few years older than you! You can call me Sister Tian!"

Chen Lan immediately and politely called out, "Sister Tian, then I'll trouble you."

With Sister Tian, the female doctor personally taking charge, Wei Dang's hospitalization procedures were handled exceptionally quickly! After Jia Yao stylishly paid the 500 yuan deposit, they didn't ask any more questions. With very enthusiastic attitudes, they followed Chen Lan's request and had Wei Dang admitted to a single room with a private bathroom.

As soon as they entered the room, Chen Lan and Jia Yao got busy. Chen Lan instructed Jia Yao to make the bed, and she helped him. She then sent Jia Xing to the water room to fetch a thermos of hot water and to clean the washbasin and the enamel mug.

After everything was tidied up and Wei Dang was settled in bed, Chen Lan, as if by magic, took out several large red apples, a few large pears, and a bunch of bananas from her cloth bag and put them into another small washbasin.

Finally, she took out four novels from her cloth bag: "Behind Enemy Lines," "Fighting the Ancient City with Spring Wind and Wildfire," "How the Steel Was Tempered," and "Red Crag."

Chen Lan placed the basin of fruit directly on the long table beside the hospital bed, then casually picked a banana, peeled it, and handed it to Wei Dang.

Wei Dang was so overwhelmed by Chen Lan's actions that he hadn't fully reacted. He reflexively reached out and took the banana! When he came to his senses, he felt a bit embarrassed and quickly said, "Auntie, I'm not a child. I don't like eating these things. Please take them back for Jia Yao and his brothers to eat!"

Chen Lan smiled and replied, "You have to eat them even if you don't like them. You're not a child, and they're not much younger than you. You're all adults now; just eat them with confidence! They have plenty left at home. These were specifically brought for you. Eat them well. Do you hear me? Replenish your nutrition well, and your wound will heal faster, so you won't suffer as much."

When Jia Xing returned with the water, Chen Lan gave him a few instructions to take good care of Wei Dang. Jia Xing nodded and agreed, "Mother, you can rest assured leaving Brother Wei Dang to me! You and Big Brother should go and tend to your business."

Chen Lan then took Jia Yao and left the ward, leaving Jia Xing to stay with Wei Dang.

As Chen Lan walked forward with Jia Yao, she mentally opened her system inventory and looked for cloth bags without any characters on them. After a long search, she found several coffee-colored cloth bags with no writing.

Chen Lan immediately mentally put ten apples into each of two cloth bags. Then, she took them out of the cloth bag she was carrying, and she and Jia Yao each took one bag.

The mother and son, still carrying the bags, went to the outpatient department on the first floor. Sister Tian was waiting at the entrance of the outpatient department. Without a word, Chen Lan handed the cloth bag she was carrying to Sister Tian and said softly, "I've troubled you today, Sister Tian. These are a few apples. Please take them home for the children to enjoy."

Sister Tian didn't refuse and happily accepted the cloth bag from Chen Lan. She was surprised by its weight, estimating it to be at least six or seven jin.

The three of them walked to where the bicycles were parked. Sister Tian had also ridden her bicycle to work. So, the mother and son only took one bicycle, with Chen Lan sitting in the back seat and starting to inquire about Director Huang's specific situation.

Chen Lan asked, "Sister Tian, does Director Huang live far from the hospital?"

Sister Tian replied while riding, "Not far. It's about a ten-minute bike ride. Our hospital has a dormitory for staff families, and both Director Huang and I live in the communal buildings built by the unit. My home is on the floor above his. Director Huang's mother is old and lives on the first floor, with a yard to move around. My home is on the third floor above theirs."

Chatting along the way, they quickly arrived at the staff family compound of their unit, as Sister Tian had described. Several communal buildings, as Sister Tian called them, stood in the courtyard.

Sister Tian led Chen Lan and Jia Yao, making several turns, and stopped in front of a small courtyard.

Sister Tian asked Chen Lan and her son to wait outside the courtyard for a moment, then reached out and pushed open the fence gate of the courtyard.
