Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Yelena, you’re wearing too much!
The chaos from Victor’s arrest quickly spread through the Genius Training Camp.
The trainees in the valley added fuel to the fire, spicing up the story and making lots of different versions.
"Did you hear? Victor was sleeping with several male instructors at the same time and got sick. The people who came to take him weren’t the military—they were doctors from the infectious disease center."
"That’s not right! I saw it myself—Victor pulled out a ring to propose to a male instructor. He got rejected, lost his temper, and the instructor called the cops to take him away."
"But why did I hear Victor shouting Logan, Yelena, and Sawako’s names?"
"You don’t get it. Victor must like Logan, but Logan is messing around with Yelena and Sawako. That broke Victor’s heart. Sometimes when a man’s heart breaks, it really tears him apart."
"Oh, that makes sense!"
Jessica sat at her computer, watching the forum posts get more and more ridiculous. She was grinning ear to ear. "Heh, making up rumors and smearing people? Jessica’s a pro."
Soon, the whole camp’s mood turned strange and murky.
Even though the story of Victor being taken away had lots of versions, almost all of them said the same thing: Victor is gay, super jealous, and sick.
Victor sat in the army truck and finally got permission to use his phone.
He was about to call the Tattalia family’s lawyer when a forum post from the Genius Training Camp popped up.
Staring at the long list of gossip about him—and seeing his latest nickname was "Ass-Up"—Victor’s face went green with rage.
"Fuck! Who did this!" Victor shouted, then smashed his phone hard.
The soldier guarding Victor was stunned. "Dude, are you that bold? You’re about to face a military court and you won’t even call a lawyer?"
The driver up front also froze for a moment. Seeing Victor’s angry face, he muttered, "First time I’ve seen someone get phone access just to smash it."
While Victor was stuck in trouble, Logan and the others were in Sophia’s office, poring over the reward list until their eyes hurt.
Even though Yelena and Sawako had 300,000 points sitting in their accounts, they knew those points were Logan’s, so they didn’t touch them without asking.
Now that it was time to redeem rewards, both of them were looking at Logan with hopeful eyes.
Seeing sparks almost shoot from the girls’ eyes, Sophia gave a small cough and said, "Only Logan can redeem the items on this list. But you two did help, so I can approve one A-level familiar for each of you."
An A-level familiar costs at least 50,000 points in the Genius Training Camp system.
Sophia’s gift was exactly what Yelena and Sawako wanted.
For a familiar tamer, the strength and number of their familiars are what really decide how strong they are.
Yelena and Sawako still didn’t have an A-level familiar. Going after other things would be missing the point.
"We’ll go pick our familiars first. We’ll wait for you at the camp tonight," Sawako said, excited. She gave Logan a quick kiss on the cheek and hurried out of Sophia’s office.
"You... come back early. And thank you!" Yelena blushed at Sawako’s bold move. After a moment’s thought, she left a lipstick mark on the other side of Logan’s face.
Seeing two bright lipstick marks on Logan’s cheeks, Sophia covered her mouth and joked, "If you get scared tonight, you can hide in my office. Sometimes boys need to learn to protect themselves too."
Logan rolled his eyes at Sophia and went back to studying the list.
Even though any one of these prizes could make top experts fight over it, Logan knew the best choice is the one that truly fits him.
He gathered the info on each prize and sent it to Kerparos.
Kerparos had lived a long time and had served for years at The Black Church guarding the Sacred Beast. Logan believed this old hound would give him the best advice.
Kerparos didn’t let him down.
From the whole list, it picked the one most suited to Logan: an incomplete cultivation method for familiar tamers.
[Soul Crystal Body Forging Method (Incomplete, Advanced): Lets you forge a soul crystal body inside a familiar. Through this soul crystal body, a familiar can pass 1% of its cultivation gains to the familiar tamer. The more familiars you have, the more you get. Price: 50,000 points.]
Logan’s eyes lit up when he saw it.
For other familiar tamers, this method is kind of pointless.
Most of them can’t bond with even ten familiars in their whole lives.
Even top people like Principal Mark and Principal Charles only have seven or eight.
For them, the gains from this method would be small.
But for Logan, it’s not a problem at all, because the dark-gold familiar space gives him unlimited potential.
As long as Logan keeps bonding with more familiars, the effect of this Soul Crystal Body Forging Method will keep growing, with no cap.
You could say this is a key base for Logan to build power and break through to the Master realm, the Legend realm, and even higher stages.
Seeing Logan pick up a pen and circle his first choice on the list, Sophia raised an eyebrow and leaned over. "What good stuff did you pick?"
When she saw he chose an incomplete cultivation method, she was stunned. "There are so many top-tier methods and you didn’t pick any of them? You chose an Advanced one? You’re really that thrifty?"
Logan shrugged and smiled. "I only pick what suits me."
Realizing he wasn’t joking, Sophia read the Soul Crystal Body method’s description carefully.
After learning its effect depends on the number of familiars, she frowned. "How many familiars do you have now?"
"Not many. Six," Logan answered honestly while moving on to the next rewards.
"Six!" Sophia was shocked at the number.
She grabbed Logan’s wrist and forced soul power into his body, triggering his familiar space.
Through the opening into his familiar space, Sophia caught a glimpse of its full size and froze in fear.
"This... this big?" Her eyes went unsteady, and she quickly understood why Logan chose the [Soul Crystal Body Forging Method].
But then she remembered it was only a fragment, so she warned him, "The other two parts of this method are held by the Temple and The Black Church. If you pick this, you’ll end up tangled with the Temple and The Black Church in the future."
At this point, Sophia picked up a pen and added two new rewards to the list that weren’t there before.
[Virtual Space Simulation Method (Top-tier): Lets you spend resources to create a virtual familiar space and simulate familiar-space waves of different levels, to hide a familiar tamer’s true strength. Price: 100,000 points.]
[Dual-Beast Possession Combat Method (Top-tier): Lets two familiars possess the familiar tamer at the same time, giving the tamer both familiars’ stat boosts and skill talents. Price: 100,000 points.]
Logan took the list from Sophia, his eyelids twitching. "You’re trying to help me hide better?"
"Right." Sophia nodded, then warned him, "You must never let anyone know how big your familiar space is. I know Natalia put a gray-white seal on it, but that’s nowhere near enough. Who disguises their familiar space as gray-white? That’s basically telling everyone something’s fishy.
As she said this, a sudden thought hit her. Her face darkened. "Damn! That woman Natalia did it on purpose! She set me up!"
Seeing Sophia’s reaction, Logan instantly understood Natalia’s plan.
Natalia was baiting Sophia into bringing out her best treasures.
"She really put in the effort." Logan said with a small smile, impressed by Natalia’s scheming.
Soon he looked up at Sophia. "From the way you talked about the City Lord, are you two close?"
"That’s none of your business!" Sophia clearly didn’t want to discuss Natalia. She switched topics at once. "There are ten days left before the internal competition. Get ready. I want you to take first place."
Hearing first place, Logan remembered his deal with Natalia and nodded.
With the remaining 400,000 points, Logan chose A-level familiars and materials for building Rune Arrays.
For the A-level familiars, he picked the [Titan Giant Ape] and the [Abyssal Troll]—both are outstanding in physical stats and melee power.
They’ll be Logan’s main familiars for [Dual-Beast Possession], giving him huge boosts to stamina, power, and agility.
Once both familiars possess him at the same time, anyone trying to ambush Logan will probably end up in tears.
Because the rewards on the list were so important, Sophia watched over the whole process as Logan claimed them.
Only after Logan fully contracted both familiars and memorized all the cultivation and combat methods did Sophia toss him a space ring. "Everything you asked for—the Rune Arrays materials—are inside. It’s enough to upgrade all your basic arrays to intermediate ones."
Logan took the ring and smiled with a nod. "Don’t worry, Instructor, I’ll take first place."
With that, he turned and left Sophia’s office.
By the time he got back to camp, it was already late at night.
Moving quietly, Logan lifted the flap of his tent.
Before he could go in, he heard Yelena and Sawako whispering inside.
"Sawako, do we really have to dress like this? Does Logan really like it?"
"Yelena, trust me. Take off two more pieces—you’re wearing too much!"
