Bai Ye watched the news with an expression that screamed, "I'm so awesome, I predicted this!" It was quite smug, completely ignoring that this wasn't a deduction, but something he had experienced in his past life, thus knowing exactly what the Batman and Commissioner Gordon were up to.
This was a trap, designed to apprehend criminals who intended to hijack the transport vehicle and rescue the Joker.
Even Commissioner Gordon had spent a considerable sum on short notice, purchasing advanced technological weaponry from an arms company called "Stark Industries."
The facts proved they were successful, apprehending seven criminals.
However, Bai Ye wasn't particularly concerned. Was the strength of the Sinister Faction weakened?
It was just seven people!
Judging by the number of Chosen Ones who entered the City of Sin, three hundred people divided into two factions meant one hundred and fifty each. With only seven captured, it wouldn't affect the overall situation.
But hijacking the transport vehicle was indeed a bad idea. Firstly, one would have to contend with the plans of Batman and Commissioner Gordon. Secondly, even if the Joker were successfully rescued, one would have to face attacks from the Order Faction and backstabbing from within the Sinister Faction.
Those one hundred Sinister Points and the Joker's playing cards weren't easily obtained. Only one person succeeded in rescuing the Joker. Thus, the Chosen Ones within the Sinister Faction were actually in a state of mutual opposition.
Of course, the Order Faction wasn't peaceful either, as only one of them could obtain the Order Points and the Bat-suit.
This was somewhat difficult to comprehend. The Order Faction's mission was to prevent the Joker from escaping. If the Joker failed to escape, it would mean all Chosen Ones of the Order Faction had succeeded.
But Bai Ye knew this wasn't the case. The Joker would inevitably escape, even if no Chosen One from the Sinister Faction intervened. The Joker himself could escape from the holding cell. Therefore, while the Order Faction's mission was to prevent the Joker's escape, it should actually be to recapture the Joker after he escaped, not simply to prevent someone from rescuing him.
Thus, whoever successfully escorted the Joker back would be considered to have completed the mission.
Time trickled by. Looking outside through the window, there was little to see that was out of the ordinary, yet the atmosphere was incredibly heavy.
A low pressure permeated the air…
It felt like the calm before a storm.
Bai Ye lay in his rocking chair, gently swaying, appearing to be resting with his eyes closed, or perhaps even asleep.
"Help, help, help."
When the red capsule opened, Bai Ye was presented with a massive stone.
The stone resembled a greatsword, about Bai Ye's height, nearly half a meter thick. It had a hilt at the top, made of black iron, very rough with numerous scratches. Simultaneously, rusted chains were wrapped around the stone.
On the front of the stone, four large characters were carved, with red lacquer as the base.
