Chapter 98 Unrivaled

The flash of light was blinding for a moment, so much so that Seth instinctively raised a hand to shield his eyes from the brilliance.

A moment later, the light began to fade.

When Seth looked at Bai Ye again, he was clad in a set of dark purple ancient armor. Most striking were the two extremely long plumes on his helmet, which cascaded down to his waist.

Then, in Bai Ye’s hand appeared a dark purple Guan Dao, its blade significantly larger than that of a standard halberd. It exuded an oppressive aura, laced with a palpable killing intent.

Bai Ye twisted his neck, adjusting to his new form.

With all physical attributes except intelligence tripled, Bai Ye’s raw bodily strength had surged exponentially.

And this wasn't even the most terrifying aspect.

The enhancement was multiplicative, not additive. This meant the true terror of the War God Lu Bu's embodiment lay in its scaling power: the stronger the user, the stronger the enhancement.

A threefold increase on 50 Strength was nothing compared to a threefold increase on 100 Strength.

Thinking this, Bai Ye felt that drawing this ability from the gacha machine was almost a waste of its potential.

Bai Ye grinned, saying, "This truly lives up to the name of War God!"

As he mused, Bai Ye raised his halberd and swung it forward.

*Boom!*

With that single strike, the iron bars of the cell door shattered, not cut, but blasted apart!

Under the immense force, the iron bars were reduced to a scattered mess.

Bai Ye put away the gacha machine and said to Seth, "Let's go!"

The two stepped out of the cell, and immediately, a shrill alarm blared. As they advanced down the corridor towards the stairs ahead, a group of Grim Reapers appeared at the stairwell.

Without hesitation, Bai Ye pressed forward at full speed, ready to engage.

*I'm a War God now, how can I fear these petty mooks?*

"Fang Tian Hua Zhan!"

Seeing the Grim Reapers charge, Bai Ye swung his halberd in a wide arc!

As the blade swept forward, a dark purple crescent arc appeared, accompanied by a terrifying gale that whipped around them.

With a single strike, the Grim Reapers at the forefront were sent flying. In an instant, the entire group lay in a heap.

On the other side, after the strike, Bai Ye felt a strange surge of power within him, and he quickly understood…

Enchantment state!

This was another terrifying effect.

Under this enchantment, all defensive measures—be it armor, items, magic, or abilities—became meaningless, as it allowed him to ignore all defenses.

However…

Bai Ye looked ahead, a hint of awkwardness on his face…

*They all fell down?*

Bai Ye had wanted to test the limits of the enchantment state, but he didn’t even get a second chance. With just one swing, all the Grim Reapers in front of him were incapacitated.

Bai Ye sighed, "Being too strong isn't good either. I wanted to mess around a bit, but I accidentally knocked everyone out."

Seth rolled his eyes. *That was some serious flexing, 10/10.*

The two swiftly moved past the groaning Grim Reapers and descended the stairs.

Upon reaching the next level, a new wave of Grim Reapers attacked, and then…

Bai Ye swung his halberd again!

The Grim Reapers were utterly defenseless. In fact, the Fang Tian Hua Ji in Bai Ye's hand didn't even need to truly connect with them.

With a flash of dark purple energy and a gust of wind, the halberd swept through the air without touching the Grim Reapers. They were sent flying as if struck by a heavy object, one after another.

"I told you I'd get you out of here," Bai Ye said to Seth as they left the white tower and continued forward. "About your task of placing markers, are there any restrictions?"

Seth replied, "They must be placed within five hundred meters of the four gates of the Jingling Court. Placing a marker takes five minutes, but the marker itself possesses Ghostly energy and will hide itself upon completion, making it indestructible."

Bai Ye mused, "That's quite convenient. We're heading towards the four gates anyway to break out, so you can just place the markers along the way."

"Mm!" Seth nodded, then voiced his concern, "But with all this commotion, is it really going to be okay?"

Bai Ye chuckled, "Don't worry, I haven't even started trying yet!"

As Bai Ye spoke, he continued to walk forward.

Grim Reapers were converging from all directions.

Bai Ye didn't attack immediately, simply advancing. Once they had gathered, he unleashed a sweeping strike.

"Fang Tian Hua Zhan!"

*Boom, boom, boom!*

Bai Ye’s strike shattered the ground, sending debris flying and dust billowing into the air.

Then…

As the ground exploded, the assembled Grim Reapers were instantly blown away by the single attack.

In the blink of an eye, the Grim Reapers in front of Bai Ye and Seth were scattered, groaning and writhing on the ground.

The two walked past them and continued on.

The distance from the White Tower prison to the four gates wasn't far, about two thousand meters. Bai Ye had been brought in this way, so he had a rough idea.

They continued forward, exiting the White Tower and entering a long street.

At the end of the street, a dozen Grim Reapers appeared. Simultaneously, Grim Reapers began leaping from behind the surrounding walls, standing atop them and watching Bai Ye and Seth, effectively surrounding them.

And Bai Ye…

Still only used a single strike, making no other changes!

The Fang Tian Hua Ji swung towards the side, striking the adjacent wall. Immediately, massive cracks spread from the point of impact across the wall.

A rumbling sound erupted. With that one strike, the wall on that side was pulverized. The Grim Reapers standing on it tumbled down, crushed beneath the collapsing masonry.

Bai Ye strode forward, scoffing, "Pathetic!"

Just then…

Behind Bai Ye, the sound of running footsteps echoed, followed by a figure leaping from behind him.

Without even looking, Bai Ye swung his halberd backward.

*Clang!*

A crisp metallic clang rang out.

"Hm?"

Bai Ye paused slightly. *They weren't blown away?*

Bai Ye turned to look. It was a bald man. Although sent flying backward by the strike, he managed to brace himself with his feet, sliding on the ground without falling, having managed to barely block Bai Ye's attack.

"A Vice-Captain level Grim Reaper?" Bai Ye slung the Fang Tian Hua Ji over his shoulder, looking at the man and smiling. "Finally, someone who can actually fight a bit."
