Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Sudden Collision (Part 1)
The boisterous noise that had filled the living room abruptly ceased. Everyone exchanged glances and then collectively dropped the cards in their hands, hurrying in unison toward the windowsill.
On the street, a red and white ambulance had crashed squarely into a roadside utility pole. The front of the vehicle was deeply dented from the violent impact, and wisps of white smoke were lazily rising from under the hood.
Apart from that, the severe crash also triggered nearby private cars to sound their "beep beep beep" alarm sirens.
Tang Xiaoquan stared intently at the ambulance dozens of meters away, trying to identify the name of the hospital to which it belonged from the large text on its body. Unfortunately, chaotic and horrifying blood smears covered the vehicle’s body, making it impossible to read any words.
"Hey! Look, there seems to be movement inside the car!" Wang Qiang suddenly exclaimed in a low voice, pointing with his right hand at the shattered windshield of the ambulance.
There was no need for his reminder; the others, eyes fixed, also noticed the movement inside the vehicle.
It was a person sitting in the front passenger seat, whose long flowing hair revealed her gender.
"It’s a woman!" Wang Qiang added again, as if worried others couldn’t see clearly.
Hu Xiaodong wore a stony expression. As a professional archer, his eyesight was far sharper than Wang Qiang’s, so not only did he see that the person was a woman, but he also judged that she was not very old.
The woman struggled to get out of the car, her unsteady steps causing her figure to stagger slightly, clearly still dazed from the violent impact just moments ago.
After disembarking, without any pause, she shuffled and limped alongside the car, seemingly trying to aid the middle-aged man trapped in the driver’s seat.
She failed to notice, however, that the earlier loud noise and the persistent "alarm" buzz had already attracted zombies lurking nearby.
The woman continued moving toward the other side, unaware, and with every step, her figure seemed to sink slightly, almost like a crab scuttling sideways, both ludicrous and ridiculous.
Finally, with relentless effort, she managed to reach her destination, but to her surprise, the driver’s compartment door had been severely twisted from the impact.
So, faced with such a twisted and deformed car door, opening it without specialized tools would be impossible with just human strength, achievable only by a superhero wearing a cape.
The woman tugged the car door unwillingly, pulling while shouting, trying to awaken the unconscious man lying inside the vehicle.
However...
Blood flowed like a stream, dying one side of the man’s face red.
He did not respond to the woman’s cries. On the contrary, were it not for the subtle rise and fall of his chest, one might have thought he was dead.
"Dad! Dad!"
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Her screams grew increasingly intense, and even the vehicle trembled faintly under her forceful pounding.
Undoubtedly, her current actions were extremely perilous, as her rising shouts might as well have been declaring a "feast" to the approaching zombies.
"Hey!" Wang Qiang involuntarily shouted, pressing his hands tightly against the window, but before he could say more, a hand suddenly covered his mouth from behind.
"Mmph~" Struggling to free himself, Wang Qiang angrily turned around, only to find Tang Xiaoquan glaring at him with a similarly furrowed brow.
Almost simultaneously, they both shouted, "What are you doing!?"
Wang Qiang immediately followed up, "I mean, what the hell! Why are you stopping me!?"
"I... you!" Tang Xiaoquan, momentarily stunned by the reprimand, found himself at a loss for words.
But just then, Wu Chao’s slightly hollow voice abruptly interrupted their argument:
"Hehehe, I say you two stop fighting and look—the guy in the driver’s seat seems to have woken up!"
Sure enough, when Tang Xiaoquan looked again, the middle-aged man who had been lying back in the driver’s seat was now sitting up, staring at the woman outside the vehicle.
Excessive blood loss left him looking extremely weak, his ashen face devoid of any color.
The man’s lips moved faintly, but the words were like the buzzing of flies, impossible to comprehend.
However, the woman managed to glean his meaning from his lip movements. He was urging her to leave, but as his daughter, how could she abandon her father?
"Dad! Don’t say that, I won’t leave you! We’ll go together! I’ll get you out right now!"
Fueled by unwavering resolve, she raised her hand once more to grasp the handle.
But many things in this world cannot be accomplished by sheer determination alone.
Take this stubborn car door, like a "Gate of Hell" dividing two worlds. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t budge it an inch.
Tears blurred her vision, yet she continued her futile effort, remaining unfazed by the increasingly close growls of the zombies around her.
Survive together! Or die together! The woman seemed to have made up her mind!
Undoubtedly, her fearless actions were clearly witnessed by a few pairs of closely watching eyes from a nearby building.
"Damn! What’s she doing? Has she lost her mind? Doesn’t she see the zombies closing in? If she doesn’t leave now..."
Before he could finish, Wang Qiang indifferently turned around, grabbed the long spear on the table, and stepped towards the living room exit.
But...
"Stop!" Tang Xiaoquan’s stern shout suddenly rang out, his face stern with anger: "What do you think you’re doing?"
"Nonsense! What do you think? I’m going to save someone! What, should I just watch that ’idiot’ sacrifice herself?" Wang Qiang, even more furious, seemed ready to burst into flames.
Tang Xiaoquan knew his brother’s stubborn streak had resurfaced inappropriately, but he couldn’t relent. He must stop his brother’s reckless actions: "Qiang! Listen to me, calm down! If you go out now, you’ll only..."
"Enough with the bullshit! I’m telling you—any man with guts will come with me to save her! Otherwise, just stay here quietly!"
Wang Qiang swept his gaze over everyone, standing authoritatively, firm as a mountain!
