Qiao Yuxian thought for a moment and said, "No."
Gu Yanjing tucked the hair that had fallen by her ear behind it and said softly, "Helping others ought to be praised. But first, make sure you protect yourself."
"When poor, one should guard one’s own virtues; when wealthy, one can help the world." Qiao Yuxian turned and said.
"Yes," Gu Yanjing said, "Do whatever you want, don’t overthink it. If there’s trouble, I’ll solve it."
Qiao Yuxian smiled happily.
She shifted, hugging Dou Jin, sitting sideways in his arms, with her leg resting on his, her head on his shoulder: "But I don’t know how to help her."
Gu Yanjing adjusted his arm around her, making her more comfortable.
"The news from Yuan Wei, roughly says she’s somewhat mentally unstable." Qiao Yuxian said quietly, "The police in her hometown won’t take her case because her family arranged for a proof of mental instability for her. And there’s no trace of this Gu Yao, no evidence Chen Xi has to prove Gu Yao’s existence."
"Do you believe her?" Gu Yanjing asked.
"I don’t know," Qiao Yuxian said dully, "I guess I should believe her. Her sister is gone, and she... has been hospitalized before. I think these two incidents hit her so hard for a reason. I always feel that this Gu Yao wasn’t just imagined by her. But that’s just my own feeling; the reality is hard to say."
"Investigate slowly. If there’s a mystery, it will eventually reveal itself," Gu Yanjing said.
