Chapter 39: Emilia’s Worry

Chapter 39: Emilia’s Worry

For a second Nellie just stared from the car seat, as she took the concrete stone, and place it on the break, her chest began tightening, as the cold rain hammering her face.

But for this to work she need to align the car just right, to crash, and drive off far into the distance, as such, she crash the block on the breaks, and the sound hit her, the raw, mechanical roar of her engine went off with the incoming sirens choking infront as she ran over several people, mostly cops.

"Chase that psycho down!" Someone yelled, and just as quick Flashing blues dove into motion. "Eat skid fuck bags." Nellie said with a satisfied smirk, as the entire block’s attention snapped to the runaway car the second it barreled past the curb, a flying loose cannon on two bald tires. People pointed and turn to chaos, as predicted they took out their phones snapping and taking pictures and videos. As the cops cursed into radios, as shouts cut the puddle-slick air. That metal beast of a distraction was everything Nellie needed to divert the attention of her friends captors.

She pushed up off the pavement after jumping out at the best time to prevent being seen, which was during the chaos when alot of people where around, every joint began screaming in pain, as it feel like her muscle where tearing, and stretching. Pain flared all over, in her leg, arms, back, neck, literally everywhere "Ahhh!!" She groaned in pain. But adrenaline help her to a degree. "The things I do for this bitch, I swear." She commented.

As proceeded to move, her head down, while crutching from car to car, moving like a burglar in the night, fast but trying not to be seen.

She crossed the street in the shallow blur lurching forward until she heard a loud crash up the block, finally her vehicle crash and began grinding to a death rattle against a parked van, and it sat there, huffing steam into the sky. "Well there goes, my extended time, I need to hurry."

The cruiser doors popped behind, as officers spilled out, sprinting toward the wreck. Everyone’s eyes glued to the mess, and the cops where angry a lot of them got ran over, so it goes without saying the person inside is not about to have a good time.

That’s when Nellie saw her chance. She hurried to the car, glancing over her shoulder the whole way. Cops were corralling, pointing, kneeling near the smoking hood. The nearest cop barked orders, radio in one hand, torchlight in the other. He wasn’t looking at the backseat.

She flicked her hood up and slipped a hand between her breast where she kept the tiny metal case. One closer look one could see that what she now had in her hand was lock pick set, three cheap blades, a couple of hairpins, and other weird metal picks was inside it.

After all, she always keep this thing hidden in there because pockets are for suckers and the safest place is usually the worst place to look.

She crouched by the cruiser, her heart knocking as she was nervous. "I hope she is ok!?" Nellie said to herself, and tapped the back window. The glass was half-fogged with condensation and the smell of old cigarette smoke and hand sanitizer. Emilia within the vehicle turned pale at the sight of Nellie, her expression was tired, and annoyed but glad to see her.

Nellie rapped again, harder. Emilia’s breath fogged the glass. Her lips moved, a silent prayer. Relief crashed over Nellie in a hot pulse that almost made her laugh. She mouthed. "Hold on." And then pressed her forehead to the cold car window like it was a prayer stone.

Of course the car was locked, but nothing she can’t fix, and snapped it open with a wet thumb.

"C’mon, c’mon." She hissed, her fingers clumsy from the shakes of her tired body, but she eventually worked the pick into the frame.

She focused like she had never focused before, thankfully the process was quick with power of her mutant ability of x-ray vision, as she could easily see what was going on inside.

One, two, click... Then the door popped right open. "Good that should do it." She then shoved the handle and the back door flung open, and Emilia slumped out in a tangle of limbs and seatbelts, landing on the wet pavement in a heap. Her red hair was plastered across her face.

And her skin showed signs of bruises, but above all she seems ok. "Emi!" Nellie dropped to her knees beside her, breath tearing. "Emi, are you... Emilia’s lips curled into a smile. "Mija...what the hell, you actually came back for me?" She said out loudly. "Rude, I will never leave my sister behind, still, are you ok!?" She asked.

"That motherfucker, before he split us up, he chase me down, but quickly catch me. Still, I figured you would be able to get away better than me, as matter of fact, his partner called in suddenly, and he leave me here in a rush, I thought they also caught you as well in that moment, but I am glad I was so fucking wrong." Said Emilia, as began laughing in joy. But the Nellie looked at her and commented.

"Did they really have to chain you up to this extent though?" Emilia pushed to her feet, wobbling. "The dumb fuck with the braid did this to, and went off somewhere." She flinched, mostly annoyed.

Nellie’s hands moved before she thought. She ripped at Emilia’s restraints, metal cuffs clamped to legs, something that looked like handcuffs twisted around wrists and fastened to the seat, like a dog chain to a tree. "Just giving me a minute let me take the ones off your legs."

But then, a cop came behind Nellie, and shout, taking her by suprise. "Hey! The hell, both of you stop right there!"

"Shit." Nellie said turning around, one of the cops had spotted her, and Nellie’s hand froze for a sliver of a breath. The world shrank to the distance to the nearest cuff and the speed in which she could rip it. She dove forward, pliers between her teeth, strength leeching away.

"Move!" A uniformed officer barked. His gunhand grazed his holster as if it was first instinct. Then suddenly a stone hit the cop’s head.

SMASH!!

"AWWW!!" He screamed in pain, dropping his gun, and holding his bloody nose.

It was Emilia, she grabbed the object last, minute, and at the same time the chains in her feet fell off.

"Run." Emilia said, grabbing Nellie’s hand. The two of them moved quickly, one step, then another, there feet slapping wet pavement, breathing hard and hot, as they rush from the scene, losing them quickly in the alley way. Till eventually both of them where far away from the sight where the incident happened.

"Mija, do you think we lost them!?" Emilia asked Nellie who sighed and commented. "Hard to say, but I think we did." She admitted bluntly, and Emilia exhaled a breathe of pure relief. "Thank the Greats, honestly Mija, I can’t afford to go to jail again, last time I was there, I almost got my face ride by an entire ward."

"Too much information woman, still I am glad your ok." Said Nellie. "He just knocked me out after kicking me off my feet, when I came to was when I heard him talking to his partner over the radio, she seems very injured, and that got me worried, still are you ok Mija... After all, if she is injured you must have done something crazy right!?" Asked Emilia, which caused Nellie to turn her head while rubbing it, confuse, and unsure how to answer, but decided to be honest. "To be honest, that bitch was going to kill me, or rather turn into one of her so call shadow puppets, my is this, I shouldn’t even be alive or present right now."

"W-What, those bastards, sigh either way I glad your ok, but you got tell me how you even survive." Asked Emilia, and Nellie replied to her saying as such. "I got save by a Spirit."

"Save by a spirit, you mean another Spirit Warrior!?" She questioned. "No, I mean, a literal Negative Spirit, this one was intelligent, and borderline broken, you should have seen what that thing did to her when I agree for it to posses my body. He sent that bitch flying through mul...

"Hold up, hold up, the fuck you mean when he possess your body, Mija, don’t tell me did you!?" Emilia looked at Nellie worriedly, as she avert her gaze from her, seeing this Emilia rush to her so called older sister and commented. "Nellie answer me, did you made contract with that thing!?" A loud sigh left Nellie’s mouth as she answered honestly. "Yes, I did, but you have to understand, it was either that or be killed, so I chose the obvious."

"Fuck Mija, spirit don’t help for free, especially powerful ones, what did he took from you in return." Emilia asked, but the answer Nellie gave, took her off guard. "That’s the thing, I don’t know."

"What do you mean you don’t know!?" She asked, shouting now more than talking. "Look, all he said he will help me, if I agree to play a game with him, I don’t know what kind of game, but I had no choice ok." She tried to explain as causing Emilia to hold her head. "Of fuck, from one fuckery to another, looked I don’t blame you Mija, but Negative Spirit’s are no good, fuck, don’t worry, I will get you out of this, call him out."

But again the answer Emilia got suprise her. "Sorry but I can’t, he won’t even answer me, I don’t even know if he is here, if he was I could have gotten you away from those cops easily with his power."
