Chapter 592: +Chapter 592+
"I don’t think you’re fat," Rosie gave her answer, less tense than before. "You only put on a little. Frankly, with your appetite, I’m surprised you haven’t put on more."
Lake had to agree, he ate quite a lot these days. He patted his tummy, wondering where all the food went. Maybe if he spent some days at home, away from work, the effects of the food he ate would be more prominent.
Davian stepped out of the connecting door shortly after, "Doctor Perez is here," He announced with his entrance.
Lake rose to his feet, eager to get it over with. At first, he had been unbothered, but now he was begining to get a little anxious about the whole matter. What if Davian and Rosie was right, and the stress was truly starting to get to him?
His meal almost completely consisted of foods with spice, a little bowl of noodles couldn’t have possibly been the trigger.
Doctor Perez had been ushered into a living room on the first floor, the doctor standing stiffly in the middle of the room.
It relieved some of Lake’s growing worry; if the doctor was recieving him in such a casual setting instead of the fully outfitted clinic on the ground floor, it meant that it was likely nothing serious.
Davian and Rosie lingered at the door but they made no move to step in, relucntantly closing the door to give them some privacy.
Doctor Perez ushered him to sit, doing the same after he did. "Could you tell me exactly what happened?"
Lake knew that Davian had definitely filled the doctor in, but it was probably better he explained from the top. "A hot flash woke me up early this morning. I took a shower and I’m much better now..."
The doctor’s questions were concise and non-intrusive. It was why, even though he was an Alpha, he was comfortable with him.
He explained the best he could, sitting up straighter when Doctor Perez explained that going over his recent change in activity and diet could source out the cause of it.
And again, it was highly possible that it was just his homornes going haywire.
That was relieving because he hadn’t done anything different recently... His thoughts drifted to the greedy late-night snack he had the night before.
He made sure to mention it too. Doctor Perez already knew about his diet, and seeing as there was no immediate cause for concern the doctor had given him the go ahead to satisfy his cravings.
As Lake mentioned it, he realized something else. "I haven’t had instant noodles since I got pregnant," He murrmured, deep in thought.
There was no longer any reason to, not when he had a mate who would learn any recipe at all on the spot to feed him.
Micheal Perez meticulously took notes, "Maybe you should avoid instant noodles for the time being. Eliminating that would make it easier to figure out the cause if it happens again."
Lake deflated, the noodles had been delicious, he had been thinking up ways to ask Angelo to make him some more. Davian would be gutted but he didn’t want his mate to make it, Angelo’s cooking was perfect for his taste buds.
Bottom-lip jutting, he remembered to ask the doctor about a personal trainer.
Micheal’s eyes lit up at his words, "I was about to recommend that, but I understand that you have a busy schedule."
Still not over the instant noodles he couldn’t eat anymore, Lake sighed despondently. "Not anymore. Send your recommendations to Davian, he’ll handle it."
Doctor Perez picked up on his sulking, "If you do get another hot flash, it’ll mean the instant noodles had nothing to do with it, and you should be fine with eating it in moderation."
Lake instantly brightened up, hot flashes were awful but he was almost looking forward to another one so that he could eat more noodles.
After a few more routine checks, they were all done.
Lake just rose to his feet, "I’ll leave you to explain everything to Davian," He said in a rush, already hotfooting it back to his room.
He would soon get a personal trainer, but for today, he was free to laze in bed and watch shows.
Rosie was right behind him while Davian stepped into the room to have a conversation with the doctor.
Lake could guess what they had been gossiping about while he was getting his check-up, considering that Rosie was sticking to him like glue, it was probably something the lines of never leaving him by himself.
He was curious to see how they would both manage that, considering that they had to fill in for him when he took days off.

Jael had spoken too fast, his expression grim as he drove into the parking lot of one of Asher’s main clubs. He drove with a single hand, his other hand holding his phone to his ear.
Asher had sharp eyes on him, speaking up as soon as the call dropped. "What’s up?"
"One..." He was interrupted by another call before he could get all of his words out.
Jael had parked the car by then, so he could focus on the call, his expression not improving by a long shot.
This time, Asher wasn’t in as much of a hurry to prod for what was going on, his brow lifting when the third call came in.
Jael listened to another report that added to the creases on his brow. "Small-time gangs are attacking three..." Jael was interrupted for the second time by a call. "Four of your clubs."
He managed to report before picking up the fourth call, listening to a report that was unsurprisingly similar to the other three. He glanced over at Asher when he was done, his worries dialing up at the manic grin on the Alpha’s face.
"I’m going to contact Davian and Nikolai," He announced into the car, they might not need them to contain the attacks, but they would certainly be needed if he lost control of his Mafia King.
