Chapter 310: The True Identity
Gui Xiaoxu stared at Gui Sihong for a long moment before asking, "Why did you torture Yong Yan? What did you want to know?"
At the mention of Yong Yan, Gui Sihong’s eyes flickered coldly for an instant. ’Damn it! Those useless bastards couldn’t even kill one man!’
Although he was thinking about how to deal with his men later, he feigned confusion on the surface and asked, "What are you talking about? I don’t know anyone by that name."
Too lazy to waste time with him, Gui Xiaoxu shot Gui Sihong in the other thigh.
Bang!
Gui Sihong screamed as the bullet pierced his other thigh, "Ah!"
"Mhmph!" Watching from the side, his wife, daughter, and son screamed as well, their voices muffled by gags as tears streamed down their faces.
Lowering the gun, Gui Xiaoxu coldly said, "Answer my questions."
Clenching his teeth, Gui Sihong endured the pain. With his back and forehead drenched in cold sweat, he raised his eyes to look at Gui Xiaoxu and weakly said, "I don’t know anyone named Yong Yan."
Sneering at his answer, Gui Xiaoxu responded, "Stubborn, but courageous. You are indeed the best candidate to be the next head of the second branch. Unfortunately, you forgot who the real master of the Gui Clan is."
The second his words fell, Gui Xiaoxu shot Gui Sihong’s right arm.
Bang!
"Ah!"
Now with only his left arm unharmed, Gui Sihong collapsed heavily onto the ground.
Thud!
Gasping for air, he closed his eyes and clenched his jaw. ’Endure! He won’t dare to kill me. I must endure until my father arrives!’
Watching Gui Sihong panting heavily on the floor as his blood staining the cold ground red, the middle-aged woman, the young woman, and the teenage boy no longer dared to make a sound.
Looking at Gui Sihong’s half-dead state, Gui Xiaoxu finally stood up from his seat. Taking a puff of his cigar, he squatted beside Gui Sihong and blew the smoke directly into his face.
"Cough! Cough!"
Watching Gui Sihong choke while writhing in pain, Gui Xiaoxu’s eyes gleamed with interest. He took another puff and blew again.
"Cough! Ugh!"
After repeating this several times, Gui Xiaoxu noticed his cigar was finished. He pressed the burning end against Gui Sihong’s cheek.
Phsh~
"Argh!"
Using Gui Sihong’s cheek as an ashtray, Gui Xiaoxu then tapped the wounded skin with his gun and coldly said, "Speak. What do you want from Yong Yan?"
Noticing the stubbornness still in Gui Sihong’s eyes, Gui Xiaoxu’s gaze darkened. The next second, he aimed at the middle-aged woman’s thigh.
Bang!
"Mhmph!" The middle-aged woman’s muffled screams echoed in the silent sitting room, while the smell of blood in the air thickened.
Thud!
"No!" Gui Sihong screamed hoarsely as his wife collapsed to the ground, blood spilling from her thigh.
Turning to Gui Xiaoxu, Gui Sihong glared with hatred and shouted, "Gui Xiaoxu! I won’t let you off easily!"
Hearing this, Gui Xiaoxu sneered. "Looks like you won’t speak until I kill them."
The instant Gui Xiaoxu raised his gun toward his son’s forehead, Gui Sihong panicked. "Don’t hurt my son! I will tell you everything you want to know!"
Satisfied with his answer, Gui Xiaoxu stood up and stepped on Gui Sihong’s left arm.
Crack!
"Ugh!" Gui Sihong groaned as the sound of bone breaking echoed through the silent room.
"Speak. What did you want from Yong Yan?" Gui Xiaoxu asked coldly.
Knowing his father wouldn’t arrive in time, Gui Sihong had no choice but to confess. Grinding his teeth, he endured the pain and weakly said, "I’m looking for the Gui Clan’s heirloom."
Gui Xiaoxu’s eyes flickered dangerously at the answer.
Increasing the pressure on Gui Sihong’s broken bone, he pressed further. "Why are you looking for the heirloom? What are you planning to do?"
"I... I accidentally learned about the curse of the Gui Clan. I plan to replace the first branch and become the patriarch of the Gui Clan."
The moment the words left his mouth, the double doors of the sitting room suddenly swung open.
Bam!
"Stop it right now!" an old, hoarse voice sounded the second the door was kicked open.
Gui Xiaoxu paused at the familiar yet unfamiliar voice. Raising his eyes, his brows arched slightly when he saw an old man stride in with his cane.
Lying on the cold floor, Gui Sihong looked at his father and silently exhaled in relief. ’Father finally came. A few minutes later, and I would be dead.’
Seeing his son’s bloodied body pinned under Gui Xiaoxu’s shoes, Gui Zongji slammed his cane on the floor and shouted furiously, "Gui Xiaoxu! Release your uncle this instant!"
Gui Xiaoxu chuckled at his words. "Granduncle, you are still alive? I thought you had died long ago."
Seeing Gui Xiaoxu’s blatant disrespect, Gui Zongji slammed his cane again. "Presumptuous! Is this how you speak to your elder?!"
Gui Xiaoxu’s eyes turned icy when he heard that. "Elder? Your second branch is nothing but descendants of a slave. Who do you think you are to dare to raise your voice at me? After generations living in luxury under my Gui Clan, have you forgotten your identity?"
"You—!" Gui Zongji’s face flushed with shame and fury when he heard Gui Xiaoxu’s words.
Although the second and third branches were acknowledged as Gui Clan members in public, only the members of the first branch and the elders of the second and third branches knew that only the first branch was the master of the Gui Clan, while they were only slaves and servants.
The first branch consisted of the legitimate heirs, whose bloodlines carried the heritage of the Gui Clan.
The second and third branches, however, descended from servants and slaves of the ancestors. If not for the first branch’s mercy, they would still be serving the Gui Clan to this very day.
Forcing down his anger, Gui Zongji tightened his grip on his cane and softened his tone. "Xiaoxu... if you have something to say, can’t we discuss it calmly? Why not release your uncle first?"
