Chapter 404: Chapter 240: Gu Qiye: Wenyu, I Am Actually Blue Arc
Gu Qiye asked himself, but he wasn’t sure, he just knew he was really tired.
After a moment of silence, Su Zimai said, "Are you very tired?"
"What?" Gu Qiye was taken aback and looked up at her.
"It’s good...you finally admit you’re tired, wanting to give up." Su Zimai said softly with her head down, "I won’t meddle in your decision, whether you want to give up or join Rainbow Wings, it’s up to you."
She paused, "But no matter what decision you make, I will support you."
Saying that, she closed the door, cutting off the twilight outside. At that moment, Gu Qiye’s stunned expression was swallowed by darkness, silence engulfing the entrance.
"Thank you, Xiaomai." Gu Qiye chuckled self-mockingly, "I thought you’d say how useless this brother is, chickening out at the last step. I was pondering all the way home how to bring this up to you..."
"Are you stupid?" Su Zimai interrupted with red eyes, "I’m heartbroken for you, why should you keep pushing on? Be happy instead."
Gu Qiye blinked, then raised his hand to touch her head.
"Is our little Xiaomai going to cry? If Wenyu finds out, he’ll laugh at you later." He said with a smile.
"He...he’s not home."
"He hasn’t come back yet? I texted him at noon to come back."
"Should be soon."
"That’s good," Gu Qiye thought for a moment, "Oh right, has Black Cocoon told you anything these days?"
"Actually, it was Black Cocoon who told us to rescue you."
"So that’s how it is, I guessed it." Gu Qiye said blandly, "I really should thank him this time, but knowing Black Cocoon’s style, maybe even the thing with Mu Long trying to kill me was arranged by him in advance."
"No way, is that moth really that shady?" Su Zimai said suspiciously, "I think he’s nasty and cheeky, but he should...probably might still be a good person, right? Would he really do something so wicked?"
Just as she finished speaking, with a "click," the door was pushed open again, and the twilight shone into the room, illuminating the siblings’ faces.
Gu Wenyu, playing on his phone, pulled out the key from the keyhole and looked up at the two people in the entrance, stunned.
"What are you two doing here?" Gu Wenyu squinted, "You’re not talking bad about me behind my back, are you?"
"You’re back?"
Gu Qiye smirked at him, "We’ve been waiting for you."
"Speak of the devil." Su Zimai said lightly, "We were just talking about whether you got yourself killed somewhere."
"Hold on, what’s going on?" Gu Wenyu looked between Gu Qiye and Su Zimai, "Didn’t you tell me yesterday that our big brother was caught stealing manhole covers and got thrown in jail?"
"Big brother isn’t from Hunan."
"Then where did brother go yesterday?"
Su Zimai put her hands behind her back, pondered, then suddenly turned to Gu Qiye, seemingly asking him silently with her eyes, "Should we tell second brother the truth?"
"Uh..." Gu Qiye crossed his arms, quietly thinking.
After being stared at by Su Zimai for a while, he finally rubbed his forehead and said:
"Wenyu, let’s talk in the living room, I have something to tell you."
"Sure, but why so serious?" Gu Wenyu guessed suspiciously, "Our family’s not going bankrupt, right? Or, did dad get hit by a car drunk?"
"Neither." Gu Qiye shook his head.
"Could you not say such ominous things?" Su Zimai rolled her eyes at him.
Gu Wenyu, taking off his shoes, changed the subject: "By the way, did you see the news? That new Mutant ’Mu Long’ half-killed ’Blue Arc’ yesterday, and then Black Cocoon rescued Mu Long."
"Didn’t see it." Gu Qiye said.
"I did." Su Zimai said.
The three talked as they walked into the living room.
"Mu Long even said Blue Arc killed his father, now Blue Arc’s anti-fans are having a field day." Gu Wenyu said, "Except for Blue Arc’s fans who are still mourning, the whole internet is watching the spectacle."
"It’s fine...anyway, Blue Arc is dead." Gu Qiye smiled, "Let them say whatever."
"Blue Arc is dead?"
Gu Wenyu was stunned.
"Yeah...Blue Arc won’t be coming back." Gu Qiye said quietly.
Not having time to mourn Blue Arc’s death, Gu Wenyu suddenly covered his mouth, his voice muffled:
"Wait a minute, if Blue Arc is dead and Mu Long’s a wanted criminal, doesn’t that mean..."
"Mean what?"
Su Zimai turned her head, looking at him with disdain but also curiosity.
"It means our Swallowing Silver rat is going to dominate the association and become Li Jing’s poster boy!" Gu Wenyu couldn’t hold it anymore and cheered, raising his arm, "Who would’ve thought, our Swallowing Silver fans are on top today too."
Su Zimai sighed, "Great, promoting a comedian, what will become of our Li Jing?"
"It’s fine." Gu Qiye defended Swallowing Silver, "Swallowing Silver may have a bad temper, but he’s responsible, much better than Blue Arc."
He looked out at the twilight and casually asked, "Where’s dad?"
"Still not back...I called him with my phone." Gu Wenyu said, "By the way, what did you want to tell me just now?" He turned to look at Gu Qiye.
"Wenyu, actually I am..." Gu Qiye crossed his arms, paused, "Blue Arc."
"Eh, you’d be better off saying you’re Swallowing Silver, that would surprise me more."
Gu Wenyu nonchalantly waved his hand, silently opening his phone’s drawing app, adding a new sketch.
In the sketch, the Swallowing Silver rat stood atop a high mountain holding a broken Blue Arc battery, with a determined expression, shedding tears while murmuring:
"Being invincible is so, so lonely."
Just then, Su Zimai suddenly coughed seriously, walked to the wall of the living room, and turned off the light.
Suddenly the surroundings dimmed, leaving only the twilight shining on the floor by the window, casting flickering shadows, as the rumble of a train came from a distant overpass.
She looked expectantly at Gu Wenyu’s back, then at Gu Qiye.
Gu Qiye sighed, smiled wryly, thinking his sister was not leaving any retreat for him, recreating the scene when he confessed to her.
"Is it my birthday today?" Gu Wenyu asked, "Why’d you turn off the lights, going to bring out a cake?"
"Wenyu, actually I am...Blue Arc."
As the words fell, suddenly a bundle of black lightning jumped on Gu Qiye’s right hand, illuminating the surroundings, then slowly changing color into a cluster of deep blue.
"I knew it early on..."
Before Su Zimai’s triumphant mocking could sound, Gu Wenyu suddenly let go of his phone, slumped backward, tilting his head onto the sofa, one hand hanging toward the floor.
He had passed out.
