Chapter 251 Handed Over to Lin Feng

"I wasn't this infuriating before," Lin Feng glanced at him, denying it.

He wasn't this infuriating.

"Heh, you'll only be more infuriating than him," Peng Tao snorted. "Who was it who got injured on a mission, told to rest properly, but refused to listen and insisted on going out?"

"Are those the same thing?" Lin Feng disagreed. That was a mission; how could he retreat just because he was injured? He felt he could still hold on and continue fighting.

"They are the same," Fu Wenwen and Peng Tao said in unison.

"See? Even sister-in-law agrees! What else do you have to refute?" Peng Tao, hearing Fu Wenwen's agreement, immediately lifted his chin and glared.

"..." Lin Feng looked at Fu Wenwen, who narrowed her eyes dangerously.

"Still want to fight when you're injured, so brave?" Fu Wenwen's words made Lin Feng stiffen.

"Let's eat, let's eat. Your cooking is truly delicious," Lin Feng quickly said, serving Fu Wenwen some food.

Beside them, Peng Tao happily picked up his bowl again, finding every dish delicious. He had a particularly good appetite today.

After Fu Wenwen and Lin An finished eating, Lin Feng and Peng Tao entered the true "eating competition" mode, finishing all six servings of food that Fu Wenwen had prepared.

Fu Wenwen looked at the empty plates and bowls. They had eaten very cleanly; there wasn't even any soup left.

"I'll wash the dishes today! You haven't finished talking, have you?" Fu Wenwen volunteered to clear the dishes. Lin Feng immediately grabbed them, and Peng Tao also tried to persuade her. "Sister-in-law, don't bother. Let him do it. We're always talking anyway. You shouldn't tire your hands."

Lin Feng took the dishes to wash, and Peng Tao followed him. Peng Tao originally wanted to help Lin Feng, but Lin Feng slapped his hand away.

"Regarding Fu Liqun's matter, you can handle it first. You are the deputy captain and have the authority to deal with him. The division commander said you can proceed with confidence. Whatever happens, he'll back you up," Peng Tao told Lin Feng. "However, the transportation mission cannot be interrupted; don't delay it."

"The division commander can make decisions?" Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "The division commander has already interrogated Chen Long and found some clues. Chen Long said the transportation team's vehicles delivered the goods to him. There was no direct contact; one party delivered, and the other received."

"They must be involved in more than this," Lin Feng said heavily. "Every time we investigate a lead, it goes cold. Has the division commander never suspected that there might be their people within the army?"

"The division commander has also suspected that, but he couldn't pry any more clues from Chen Long. The division commander is preparing to use a 'cast a brick to attract jade' strategy; eventually, the person will be lured out!" Peng Tao said seriously.

"Since that's the case, I understand. I'll handle it! Can I promote and re-employ people from the second team?" Lin Feng asked Peng Tao. He couldn't handle the transportation alone; he needed legitimate manpower.

"The division commander said that the people from the second team have been investigated, and there are no problems. You can use them," Peng Tao nodded. "As for Fu Liqun, let him cause trouble for a few more days. Once enough evidence is collected, none of them will escape."

"What about Captain Zou?" Lin Feng asked.

"You decide. If it comes down to it, he won't escape charges of negligence," Peng Tao said slowly. "He could have reported it, but he didn't. Although it was because Fu Liqun suppressed him, many documents required his signature. Even if he didn't sign them, he wouldn't escape responsibility."

"Understood," Lin Feng nodded in realization.

"Alright, then I'm leaving," Peng Tao said. Lin Feng stopped him. "Don't rush off. Come to the unit with me tomorrow. I need you to lend me some of your authority."

"...You're quite good at dragging me down with you," Peng Tao glared at him and then huffed before turning around.

"Xiao He, go to the nearest guesthouse."

"Yes."

Peng Tao and Xiao He's voices faded. Lin Feng chuckled and continued washing the dishes.

That night, after Lin Feng had bathed Lin An and handed him to Fu Wenwen, he put on his clothes and was preparing to go find Peng Tao. Not long after stepping out, he discovered he was being followed.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow and feigned a move, disappearing into an alley.

The person behind him, not expecting Lin Feng to disappear so suddenly, quickly pursued him.

Lin Feng used the space between two buildings, propped himself up, and hovered in mid-air. Watching the pursuer come up, Lin Feng leaped down. Just as he was about to pin the person down, Wang Hu, sensing movement behind him, instantly turned around.

Lin Feng saw it was Wang Hu and raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you from that marketplace..."

"Before that, we've met," Wang Hu looked at Lin Feng and reminded him.

Lin Feng was stunned. They had met before the marketplace.

Suddenly, a figure appeared in Lin Feng's mind. That... mysterious woman. There was a man beside her. He overlapped the man's figure with the one before him, and Lin Feng paused.

"You are someone who was following... her," Lin Feng said.

... If you knew she was your wife, would you be even more surprised?

Wang Hu thought to himself.

However, since Lin Feng had recognized him, Wang Hu had skipped a step.

"Why are you here?" Lin Feng looked at Wang Hu, raising an eyebrow. "Did you take over everything Chen Long had?"

It was truly good to deal with smart people; you didn't need to explain; they figured it out themselves.

"Something like that," Wang Hu nodded.

"Are you looking for me?" Lin Feng asked Wang Hu. "I shouldn't have any dealings with you, or is she the one looking for me?"

... It's your wife who sent me to find you.

Wang Hu grumbled inwardly.

"We found some good stuff in Chen Long's territory. She asked me to give it to you," Wang Hu raised an eyebrow and tossed a ledger at Lin Feng.

Lin Feng caught the ledger, took out his flashlight, and opened it. He was shocked. "This is... Chen Long's ledger!"

Evidence!

"Whatever your conditions are, just name them!" Lin Feng stared at Wang Hu and said seriously. "In exchange, give me all the other ledgers."

Wang Hu raised an eyebrow. "She told me to give it to you unconditionally, but I think! It's fair to have give and take! Giving you such important items without getting anything in return feels like a loss, doesn't it."

"What do you want?" Lin Feng gestured for him to speak.

Wang Hu thought for a moment. This was a rare opportunity; why not secure a guarantee for his brothers? "If any of us from the black market are caught, you have to ensure we're safe!"

Lin Feng had expected him to make an exorbitant demand, but he only wanted protection? Yet, thinking about it, it also gave Lin Feng a different perspective on Wang Hu.

"Alright," Lin Feng nodded directly. Compared to Chen Long's matter, this was incredibly easy.

"Can you represent the people behind you? Do you not need to report it? I'm not talking about one or two... I mean the entire black market!" Wang Hu raised an eyebrow. Lin Feng's prompt agreement made him uneasy.

Lin Feng thought for a moment and said to him, "Then you'll have to wait for me to report to my superior. I need to see him now."
