Chapter 12 Flames

She had just picked a bunch of grapes from a spot that was now beginning to sprout flower buds.

What was this?

As if struck by an idea, Su Ling looked at all the fruit trees one by one, discovering that where she had picked fruit, flower buds were now appearing.

A bold thought arose in Su Ling's mind: could it be that once the products of the space matured, they would automatically freeze and stop growing, but once reduced, they would automatically replenish?

Whether this was true or not, it remained to be verified.

Su Ling wasn't in a hurry to confirm. She approached the black soil and, with a thought, summoned some bamboo. After shaping them into strips, she divided a large patch of black soil into a separate empty area, and the rest was enclosed into rectangles of the same size.

She then retrieved the agricultural and vegetable seeds she had bought from the warehouse and scattered them into the designated black soil plots.

After planting some crops and vegetables, Su Ling stopped.

Emerging from her personal space, Su Ling stood in the room. Just as she was about to move, she heard activity downstairs.

She tiptoed to the window, lifted a corner of the curtain, and looked out. The yard was brightly lit, and someone named Sunshine, carrying items, swaggered in through the main entrance.

She had changed the password, so Sunshine couldn't possibly be resourceful enough to crack it.

This left only one conclusion: they had climbed over the wall and had inside help.

Su Ling had only changed the password lock for the yard gate, not for the villa's main door.

As the lights in the yard went out, Su Ling knew that Sunshine and the others had entered the villa. wΑp.kanshu伍.net

As if to confirm her thoughts, boisterous shouts soon echoed from downstairs, with considerable noise.

Su Ling's room was dark, and she sat cross-legged on the floor, resting her chin on her hand, gazing into the pitch-black room.

Strangely, even though the room was completely dark, her vision was unimpeded, and she could still see the cosmetics on her vanity table.

This discovery surprised Su Ling; she didn't remember having such good eyesight.

Could it be a result of her marrow cleansing and meridian purification?

Thinking this, Su Ling snapped her fingers in the darkness, and a ball of flame sprang from her fingertip with a ‘pop’.

Her vision suddenly brightened. Su Ling turned her head to look at the flame, stared at it for three seconds, and then looked bewildered.

She shook her hand, and the flame extinguished.

She snapped her fingers again, and with a ‘pop’, the flame once more danced at her fingertip.

A superpower?

The thought flashed through her mind, and Su Ling immediately dismissed it. She knew very well it wasn't.

In her past life, when the apocalypse descended, she had awakened a superpower, but it wasn't a fire-element superpower.

She remembered awakening her superpower six months after the apocalypse, and it was rather useless.

As a castle builder, she could construct mobile physical houses using house blueprints.

The energy source supporting the houses' movement was the crystal cores within the zombie brains.

So this fire… Recalling the painting of her personal space bursting into flames, Su Ling seemed to understand something.

At this moment, the commotion downstairs grew louder, interrupting Su Ling's thoughts.

The flame extinguished, and the room plunged back into darkness.

Su Ling fumbled for her phone and dialed the emergency number: "Hello, officer? I want to report a crime. Someone is trespassing on private property. The address is..."

After hanging up, Su Ling flashed into her personal space.

She could no longer wait to manipulate the flames. Standing in an open area, Su Ling closed her eyes and imagined in her mind. Then, she opened her eyes, and flames poured from her fingertips, quickly coalescing into the shape of a strawberry.

Seeing the flame transform into a strawberry, Su Ling continued to innovate, changing the flame into a mango, then grapes, and then a large drumstick, a whole roasted chicken…
