Chapter 33 Seeking Personnel

"But if you want to break this balance, I don't mind seeing it through to the end!"

As she spoke, Su Ling had already drawn her Tang dao from its scabbard.

The moment the saber left its sheath, its bloodthirsty, chilling glint directly intimidated everyone present.

The Tang dao's cold aura was too potent, much like the impression Su Ling herself gave everyone – bloodthirsty and cold, sending shivers down their spines.

Su Ling hadn't made a move before because she had spent the entire night killing zombies, her physical strength completely depleted. When Xu Daqiang held a gun to her forehead, it was precisely when she was at her weakest.

If she had truly fought Xu Daqiang and his men then, she would have had no chance of winning.

Although she could retreat into her personal space in a moment of crisis, she would never easily reveal her possession of such a space unless absolutely necessary.

However, now her physical strength had recovered.

If Xu Daqiang truly wanted to confront her head-on, she wouldn't mind a direct conflict.

Guns? Hmph, she had acquired a batch of them through special means before the apocalypse!

If Xu Daqiang had harbored any shred of hope of controlling or dealing with Su Ling before, that thought had completely vanished at this moment.

He had personally touched Su Ling's saber; it was so heavy he couldn't even lift it. Yet, Su Ling, a mere woman, could effortlessly wield that chilling Tang dao.

Recalling how he had accidentally looked out earlier and seen the once crowded street completely empty, he suddenly woke up. He then turned to Su Ling and asked, "The zombies outside, did you clear them?"

Su Ling raised an eyebrow, her voice ice-cold, "What do you think?"

Faced with Su Ling's rhetorical question, Xu Daqiang's answer was confirmed in his heart. After a moment of silence, he spoke, "Between you and me, we should stay out of each other's way. You can use any of the supplies in the supermarket. But I have a condition—"

"Speak."

Seeing Su Ling's straightforwardness, Xu Daqiang didn't hesitate. "You cannot continue to stay in this area."

In other words:

Su Ling had to stay away from the territory controlled by Xu Daqiang and his four companions.

"Alright." Su Ling agreed without any hesitation. "However—"

Su Ling hadn't finished speaking when she looked at Xu Daqiang. "I want two people from you."

"Two people?" Xu Daqiang grew wary. He glanced at his four teammates. "Don't get any ideas about my people."

Su Ling's face remained icy as she looked at Xu Daqiang. "I want those two."

She pointed, indicating the fat man and the skinny man who were being held captive by Xu Daqiang and his group.

The fat man and the skinny man happened to look up, surprised that Su Ling would choose them.

Xu Daqiang followed Su Ling's gaze, his eyes lingering on the fat man and the skinny man as he pondered for a moment. Then, he waved his hand. "Take them."

And so, under the envious gazes of the others, the fat man and the skinny man walked towards Su Ling.

Su Ling was equally brisk. Having secured the fat man and the skinny man, she prepared to leave. Xu Daqiang called out to her, "Wait."

Hearing this, Su Ling turned back to look at Xu Daqiang, her eyes narrowing. "What?"

"I want to know why you chose those two." Xu Daqiang felt that something was amiss, sensing a hidden motive behind Su Ling's actions, though he couldn't quite articulate it.

A slight curve formed on Su Ling's lips. "To return a favor."

After saying this, Su Ling added, "I won't set foot in your area. I want the rooftop. We'll stay out of each other's way."

"Fine." Xu Daqiang nodded and added, "As for the supplies, feel free to use them."

Because of this statement, Su Ling gave Xu Daqiang an extra glance.

This 'kindness' wouldn't last long.

After Su Ling left, Chen Youzhao, Xu Daqiang's second-in-command, approached him. "You're really letting them go? And sharing supplies with her?"
