Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Time to Pay for One’s Actions
"One hundred thousand?" Nora Northwood couldn’t believe it.
Spencer Ford was completely clueless and actually willing to compensate so much.
Another person was also shocked that May Lawrence could be so unreasonable, having just asked her for a hundred thousand, now wanting more money.
Thinking of the scene she saw last time, Nora couldn’t help but wonder if Quentin Ford had gambled it away again.
"I don’t have it. I just gave you a hundred thousand. I have no money left now." She refused without even thinking.
Spencer couldn’t be where he is today without their help.
Who knew that upon hearing she had no money, May Lawrence was immediately displeased.
"Nora, we’re family. You can’t just stand by and watch. They say if we don’t pay, they’ll send your Uncle Ford inside. He is the pillar of this house. If he goes in, we are finished."
"Oh really? Did he ever think of that when he took the hundred thousand to gamble?"
Too tired to listen to May’s endless crying, she made up her mind. Even if May was sobbing on the other end, she felt nothing inside.
"Nora, what nonsense are you spouting?" May couldn’t believe it, perhaps surprised she found out.
But Nora didn’t give her a chance to speak further and hung up the phone immediately.
After hanging up, she contacted a previous neighbor to find out what big deal Spencer had gotten into.
Upon hearing, her jaw nearly dropped in shock.
Spencer found someone’s car attractive and insisted on getting inside. When refused, he scratched the car and even smashed it with a rock.
Chortling, Spencer wasn’t a kid anymore; he should take responsibility for his actions.
After hanging up, Vincent Morgan’s message just happened to come in.
At the end of the previous banquet, Vincent left his contact info voluntarily, saying the master saw potential in her and could contact the master through him if she had any questions.
However, seeing the message he sent now, Nora was somewhat incredulous.
"Ms. Northwood, though it may be presumptuous, I wanted to ask if you could accompany me to an auction tomorrow? There will be a banquet afterward, and as thanks, I can help you learn about various perfumers."
Vincent’s words were sincere, his request coming with a respectful attitude.
Aware that he’s inconveniencing her, he promptly offers compensation.
Thinking about it, getting more acquainted with perfumers isn’t a bad thing. Since tomorrow holds no other plans, she decided to accept.
Seeing the reply on his phone, Vincent smiled faintly.
Then, coincidentally, Yuna Hughes’s call came in. He sighed, having no choice but to answer: "Hello."
"Brother, did you get the invitation to tomorrow’s auction? Can you take me to check it out?" Yuna’s crisp voice came through.
But she didn’t know that the moment she spoke, Vincent’s expression momentarily turned sour.
"Yes, I did. But unfortunately, I already have a companion." His tone was calm, utterly indifferent to Yuna’s reaction on the other end.
"You already have a companion? Who is it?"
Yuna immediately got worked up upon hearing, wondering how her brother could have a companion. Vincent always attended previous banquets alone, so she thought of a way to have him take her this time to show those women he wasn’t someone they could dream about.
"Sorry, Yuna. I don’t feel the need to explain myself to you. I’m busy, so I’ll hang up now."
After speaking, he hung up the phone directly.
On the other end, Yuna was stunned, a hint of embarrassment on her face.
