Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Does President Sinclair Also Buy Clothes for Vases?
When Jasper Sinclair got up in the morning, Nora Northwood was no longer in the house.
There was no breakfast left on the table either, which made him somewhat perplexed for a moment, so he took out his phone to send her a message.
"Oh, sorry, I left in a hurry this morning and forgot. Mr. Sinclair, please grab something to eat outside."
A cold message, completely devoid of the warmth it once had. He frowned, unsure what kind of mood this woman was in now.
"Forget it, women still need to be coaxed." Jasper clicked his tongue a few times; living under the same roof, her moodiness affected him too. "So, it’s only normal to give her something to cheer her up."
Saying that, he instructed Louis Hayes to pick out a necklace of the latest design.
Women all love jewelry, and by the time the jewelry arrives, she’ll surely be in good spirits.
He was quite optimistic, but when Nora returned in the evening, she merely glanced at the necklace and then indifferently said that she didn’t like necklaces, handing it back to him.
After being rejected once, his mood didn’t improve for the next few days.
"Tell me, what does she want? She doesn’t want the necklace, says she has no appetite when invited for dinner, doesn’t like the clothes I bought her. And it wasn’t even my fault!"
Jasper complained to his friend with a dark expression.
He really couldn’t understand this woman and what else she was dissatisfied with!
Finn Linden lounged lazily on the couch, his eyes mocking Jasper: "What, President Sinclair has his mind set on her?"
"Am I interested in her? To me, she’s just like that vase my grandmother bought!"
"Then would President Sinclair also buy clothes for a vase?" Finn clicked his tongue.
"..." Jasper looked at him as if he were looking at an idiot: "Why would I buy clothes for a vase?"
"It could be because the time has come, and you need to cater to her needs, not just do things your way."
In the room, the two discussed this matter for a long while, neither noticing the figure quietly leaving outside the door.
...
The flower shop had been particularly busy these past two days, and Nora finally had a chance to catch her breath, collapsing directly onto the sofa.
"Who would’ve thought that just attending a banquet would make our business boom like this."
Lily Sloan teased, but after a moment without a response from Nora, she turned her head to look and saw Nora staring pale-faced at her phone.
"What’s wrong?" she asked curiously.
"It’s... nothing," Nora lowered her gaze.
Her long lashes cast a small shadow on her face.
The phone screen displayed Wendy Bell’s social media post.
"Thank you for giving us another chance. You once said I shone like a diamond, and now I understand your intentions."
Below was a picture, showing none other than what Mr. Sinclair had given and had been rejected by Nora yesterday.
So it turns out he never really intended to give it to her; gifts can be passed along after all.
With a bitter smile, she realized the marriage held no more illusions for her.
Just then, May Lawrence called.
"Nora, please save your brother, something huge has happened!" May’s voice was frantic over the phone.
Spencer Ford was in trouble again? She rubbed her temples, vividly recalling the last time May and Quentin Ford deceived her.
Even though May was her biological mother, being treated like an ATM felt terrible.
She made up her mind, and only slowly asked, "What happened?"
"Your brother accidentally scratched someone’s car, and now they’re saying the car is expensive and demanding compensation — ten thousand dollars!" May cried, her speech broken, but Nora still understood.
