Chapter 42: Hidden Psyche

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Hidden Psyche

"The arrangement is excellent. Going forward, if there are any events, we can have you handle them." He said with a half-joking smile.

However, Nora didn’t take it to heart.

After all, Aaron was Lily’s uncle, so it wasn’t appropriate to charge him the original price; Lily’s face wouldn’t allow it either.

Once she left the venue, she had the person in charge do a final inspection again, and with no issues, she received her payment and was ready to head back.

Just as she was about to leave, Aaron rushed up from behind and stopped her.

"Since it’s such a coincidence, why don’t we have a meal together? Didn’t you owe me a dinner from last time?" Aaron was still slightly out of breath.

He looked at Nora with a gentle face.

She felt something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it; it was just a momentary awkwardness.

Shaking off the thoughts in her head, maybe she was overthinking things.

"Sure, what would you like to eat, uncle?" She invited Fernanda to join them.

However, Fernanda had a good sense. Watching the man’s ambiguous attitude towards Nora, she instantly understood; she wouldn’t be the third wheel.

"I’m about to take an exam, so I want to go back to study while managing the store." She waved her hand and rejected, then drove off.

Nora looked a bit embarrassed at Aaron.

"Come on, take my car. Since you asked what I want to eat, I’ll take you to my favorite restaurant."

And so, she got into Aaron’s car, and they headed to the restaurant together.

Throughout the journey, she seemed a bit tense; after all, she rarely spent time alone with Aaron.

Like a little rabbit, her eyes were round, with a hint of nervousness. She kept her gaze on the window, feeling shy to look in Aaron’s direction.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, looking at the high-end French establishment in front of her, her mouth twitched slightly, and her heart felt a sting.

She coughed lightly to adjust her emotions, then followed him inside.

Sitting by the window, the waiter brought the menu for them to order.

"Uncle, you know I don’t understand French. I can’t read this menu. You order whatever you like, I’m not picky—except I don’t eat raw food."

She spread her hands, admitting she couldn’t read it.

The waiter beside her, seeing such a beautiful woman, blushed slightly too, not thinking much of her inability to read a menu in a French restaurant.

After placing the order, he left somewhat disappointed.

While waiting for the food, there was a slight awkwardness between Noah and Aaron.

Aaron seemed to want to say something but didn’t know how, while Nora simply didn’t know what to talk about with her friend’s uncle.

"I heard from Lily that due to your family’s situation, you got married?" He spoke diplomatically, but Nora wasn’t bothered.

"Yes, my stepfather wanted me to pay 188,000 to leave that home, so I simply got married." She didn’t mind it, as it was a fact.

"Actually, if you needed money, you could have borrowed from me. I’ve watched you grow up, there’s no need to put yourself through such discomfort." He hesitated to explain what he meant with his odd words from that day.

Nora paused: "Thank you, uncle. It’s not too uncomfortable; my husband treats me well, and his family is nice too. It’s been a blessing in disguise."

While she spoke, she thought of Mr. Sinclair standing up for her, unconsciously becoming more gentle.

This expression pierced Aaron. He thought Nora wouldn’t be happy, and he could naturally become the man to save her.

Yet, she wasn’t living the way he imagined.

His gaze immediately darkened, continuously reminding himself not to be impatient.
