Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Laughing and Chatting with Another Man Behind His Back

The two of them chatted off and on, mostly with Aaron Lowell trying to start a conversation, and Nora Northwood occasionally replying.

Little did they know, their every move was being watched by Jasper Sinclair.

Seeing them exchange smiles, he was livid, practically fuming with anger. If it weren’t for the situation being inappropriate, he would have rushed over to expose that woman!

Seeing no one was paying attention, he coldly snapped a photo.

"Let’s see how you try to explain this away." His face was dark as if it would start dripping water, and then he swiftly left.

Right as he was reaching the door, Nora looked up.

Lately, she didn’t know what was happening to her; she kept catching glimpses that looked like Mr. Sinclair’s silhouette.

"President Sinclair? Hard to believe he’d come here too." Aaron muttered, sounding somewhat surprised.

"President Sinclair?" Nora was taken aback, then lifted her hand to point at the man at the door: "Do you mean that’s the young man in charge of the Sinclair Family?"

She found it hard to believe; from his silhouette, he seemed not even thirty.

"Yeah, even though he’s younger than me, I have to admit, he’s quite capable, just foul-tempered."

Thinking of the difficulties he had faced at the previous banquet, Aaron’s expression darkened.

His Oceanic Inc. wasn’t a match for The Sinclair Group, but wasn’t it a bit much to openly humiliate him at such a grand event?

Seeing his expression, Nora knew there was likely some enmity between them.

"Uncle, don’t take it to heart, maybe you and President Sinclair just aren’t alike; after all, everyone’s personality is different."

Not sure why, but since President Sinclair was willing to investigate her underpayment issue, her instincts told her he might not be as bad as Aaron said.

Hearing Nora say this, Aaron blushed.

He cleared his throat and indicated for her to continue with the meal.

For the rest of the time, the two of them chatted intermittently.

In fact, she was somewhat unused to it; since the food had been served, she just focused on eating without the slightest intention of looking up.

Finally, the meal was over and just while she was in the restroom, she came out only to find the bill had already been taken care of.

"Already paid?" She was surprised; wasn’t it agreed that this meal would be on her?

Although the French restaurant was indeed a bit expensive, it wasn’t to the point of being unaffordable.

Outside the restaurant, Aaron explained: "I wasn’t thoughtful enough, I noticed you didn’t seem to enjoy French cuisine, so how could I let you pay for something you didn’t like?"

He found an excuse like this so there’d be a chance for another meal with Nora next time.

Forcing a smile, she nodded and agreed.

But she didn’t have the courage to say it wasn’t that she disliked French cuisine; actually, she wasn’t quite comfortable dining alone with Aaron.

"Let’s go, I’ll take you back..."

"Miss Nora? Actually, Mr. Sinclair just arranged a car for you, once you’re in, I’ll take you home." Louis spotted her and quickly opened the door to approach.

Remembering previous experience, she wasn’t too surprised, taking out her phone to see the message from Jasper Sinclair, then nodded.

"It was indeed my husband who called the car, no need to trouble Uncle." She waved goodbye to Aaron.

Once in the car, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

Louis raised an eyebrow, observing the reaction of the CEO’s wife, as if today’s meal didn’t seem very pleasant?

"Seeing you like this, anyone would think you’re fleeing from a wild beast or something." He intentionally made a joke to lighten the mood.
