Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Another Reason to Meet
Jasper Sinclair was about to return to his seat, intending to leave the situation to Louis Hayes after sitting for a while longer.
Unexpectedly, Aaron Lowell came over on his own.
Looking at the man in front of him, Jasper let out a mocking laugh.
"Rare to see President Sinclair. I dared to come over today to say hello." Aaron lowered his stance.
Even though he didn’t like Jasper Sinclair’s superior demeanor, he knew in his heart that he had no other choice.
To survive in this circle, he had to maintain a good relationship with the Sinclair Family.
For once, Jasper gave him an extra look.
"There’s nothing rare about it. With Oceanic Inc.’s capability, it can’t collaborate with the Sinclair Family for now. Not seeing each other is normal, isn’t it?"
He squinted his eyes, looking at Aaron with disdain.
So, does Nora Northwood like this type of man?
Unconsciously, he gently stroked the cup beside him, which Louis could see that President Sinclair was starting to get a bit agitated.
But Jasper himself didn’t even realize that just thinking about the day Nora and Aaron exchanged smiles felt like a splash of vinegar in his heart, unbearably painful.
He just felt that this was a man’s possessiveness at play.
No matter if Nora was a vain woman or not, she was married to him; how could his belonging be eyed by others?
With this thought, he looked at Aaron with even more hostility.
"Oceanic indeed still has some fight, hope President Sinclair can give some face in the future."
Aaron laughed dryly, not flaring up on the spot, though he couldn’t understand why Jasper harbored so much animosity towards him.
After downing the drink in his cup, he turned around and left awkwardly.
Watching him leave, Jasper snorted, "This kind of loser thinks they can compete with me."
After finishing the drink in his cup, he no longer felt like staying, handed the venue over to Louis, and prepared to go home.
His long legs strode towards the exit, and imagining that little woman obediently waiting for him at home—perhaps even having prepared some hangover soup—caused the corners of his lips to lift unconsciously.
He even quickened his pace considerably.
Arriving home full of anticipation, he pressed the fingerprint lock, only to look up and see a room in darkness.
"Not home?" He frowned as he spoke.
So late and still not back, he pursed his thin lips tightly, changed out of his shoes, and entered the house.
Glancing at her usual slippers still in place, he confirmed that she indeed wasn’t home.
Sitting on the couch, he checked the time—it was just after seven, still early.
But after this fuss, none of the previous excitement remained. He leaned back on the couch, feeling that without her nagging presence, nothing felt right at home.
"Just not used to not having someone care for me at home," he muttered to himself, pulling off his tie in frustration.
Those usually calm, composed eyes were now filled with displeasure, and an anxiousness that even he didn’t notice.
Half an hour later, he really couldn’t sit still anymore.
He took out his phone and called Nora Northwood. It only rang two or three times before she picked it up.
"Mr. Sinclair?"
The woman’s gentle voice came through the phone, and miraculously, hearing her voice eased Jasper’s irritability significantly.
"Where are you?" he asked in a deep voice.
Nora on the other end paused, thinking something must have happened.
"I’m out having dinner with friends. I’ll be back soon. Is there something you need, Mr. Sinclair?" she asked curiously.
"Nothing." Jasper’s mood wasn’t great, and even his casual tone wasn’t very pleasant: "If there’s nothing, come back early."
"Okay, I’ll hang up then." After Nora finished speaking, she prepared to hang up.
