Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Still Most Comfortable With Her
"All right, two thousand it is." She frowned as she accepted the money and watched the man leave with a smug look, while Lily was so furious next to her that she was about to grind her teeth to bits.
"The Sinclair Family has such a big business, yet they are stingy with spending."
The joy of receiving the big order initially was gone; now Lily utterly loathed everyone with the surname Sinclair!
"Okay, okay, at least we have two thousand, right? It’s better than nothing. Next time we’ll learn from this and make sure to collect payment when we take orders."
They weren’t afraid of not getting business; they were just worried about customers who played tricks like this.
Pouting her lips, Lily Sloan leaned against her shoulder without saying anything. To comfort Lily, she used the money to treat Lily to her favorite barbecue, making her much happier.
The banquet on this side had already started, the Sinclair Family’s cocktail party drew people from all circles to attend.
The Quinn Family had managed to get an invitation too. Christian Quinn’s mother brought him to the event, intending to introduce her son to more business big shots.
She also hoped to better squeeze into the business circle to develop her own business.
Her calculations were well thought out, but she forgot that with the Quinn Family’s capabilities, the people present didn’t take her seriously.
The banquet began.
Jasper Sinclair made a round and was about to return to the main seat when he overheard the Quinn family mother and son’s conversation.
"Mom, Nora Northwood is really too much!"
"She definitely is. To dare humiliate my son like that, that old blind fool actually fancies such a girl. Don’t worry, I’ll get revenge for you!"
"What can we do to her? She’s already married."
"Who said there’s nothing we can do? Find a few people to disgrace her, and spread those photos around — her life would be over!"
"..."
The mother and son continued their vile planning, while Jasper Sinclair’s face had already turned dark.
Him, an old fool? Blind?
Aside from that, Jasper was genuinely astonished that the Quinn family mother and son could come up with such a vicious plan.
Thinking about how these two were scheming against Nora Northwood stirred an inexplicable anger in him.
"Isn’t this rising Quinn Family cooperating with one of our subsidiaries?"
Feeling the tension in his wrist, he asked Louis Hayes beside him.
"Yes, the subsidiary has a share from the Quinn Family as a supplier."
"Then find a reason to cancel the cooperation." As for the Quinn Family woman, "Investigate her."
After saying this, he continued to walk forward with Louis Hayes.
The Quinn Family mother and son were still unaware of the trouble they had stirred while laughing boldly.
As he returned to the main seat, Annie appeared in a cocktail dress, hurried over: "Jasper, how about you dance with me?"
Even though Jasper Sinclair had made himself clear last time, she was still not giving up.
Loving someone was not wrong, she thought, Jasper had yet to notice her qualities. Once he did, he’d find that she’s the most suitable person!
Jasper Sinclair simply leaned on his arm, looked at her indifferently: "Not interested."
After saying this, he ignored her and raised his glass, taking a small sip.
"But..."
She wanted to say more, but Mr. Anson quickly came over and pulled her away.
"Sorry to bother President Sinclair." Ethan Anson’s heart almost jumped.
This girl really has guts; he made it so clear last time, and she still dared to approach President Sinclair. Does she not want to live?
Without getting a response, he dragged his daughter away.
Things quieted down around him, and Jasper Sinclair finally felt more comfortable.
The remaining time was mostly spent with families exchanging pleasantries and talking business, sometimes marked by veiled mockeries.
Looking at the variety of people, he suddenly thought of the little woman Nora Northwood.
Wondered what she was doing right now; being around these people is not as comforting as being with her in that small house.
